iZotope Alloy

iZotope has announced the release of Alloy, a new effect plug-in for PC and Mac featuring essential mixing tools.

The world of DAWs doesn’t need another channel strip. What it needs is a better way of working with the essential tools you need for all of your tracks and busses. That’s why we designed Alloy.

Alloy provides the key dynamics and sound shaping effects you’ll use again and again, in a self-contained and completely configurable interface. Add iZotope Alloy to your tracks and busses and bring them to life with six processors designed to add character to every element of your mix.

Alloy gives you exceptional sound quality, vintage emulation balanced with digital precision, time-saving presets and workflow features, and a forward-thinking interface that puts just the controls you need at your fingertips.

  • Six precision tools for mixing in one integrated system : Equalizer, Dynamics, Exciter, De-Esser, Transient Shaper and Limiter.
  • Load one plug-in for all of the essential EQ, dynamics and sound-shaping effects you need on your tracks and busses. Save custom presets and effect chains to suit any need.
  • Phase Tools panel includes phase invert controls, and a zero-latency phase rotation control to improve waveform symmetry.
  • Easy to navigate, forward-thinking UI with precise controls and extensive visual feedback for setting modules.
  • All modules feature useful meters that give you essential feedback for setting controls..
  • Zero-latency mode prevents sync problems in hosts like Pro Tools LE.
  • Completely user-customizable signal routing with two dynamics stages, sidechain mapping and more.
  • Dynamics, Exciter and Transient Shaper have both single and multi-band operation, giving you more simplicity or more control depending on the task at hand.
  • Includes a huge range of presets that range from simple and useful EQ and Dynamics configurations to complex chains that use all six modules.
  • MacroPresets combine key controls from any combination of Alloy’s six modules into a custom UI that shows just what you need to see.
  • Sidechaining support for VST, AU, RTAS, MAS and DirectX hosts lets you control the Dynamics section from other tracks in your mix. Affect the whole signal or zero in on just the frequency range you want with advanced multiband sidechaining.
  • Crosschaining allows you to trigger the dynamics section with another frequency band of the same input source for never-heard-before compression and gating effects.
  • Powerful workflow tools make your life simpler — the History list lets you go back in time, and the integrated preset editor lets you browse, manage and customize presets easily.
  • Simple authorization lets you choose between simple challenge-response (up to 3 machines for personal use) or iLok.

Sony Creative Software Sound Forge Pro 10

Sony Creative Software has announced the release of Sound Forge Pro 10, a professional digital audio production suite for Windows.

Sound Forge Pro 10 new features include event-based editing, disc-at-once CD burning, iZotope™ 64-bit SRC™ (sample rate conversion), MBIT+™ dither (bit-depth conversion), musical instrument file processing, and the élastique Pro timestretch/pitch shift plug-in. In addition, Sound Forge Pro 10 software provides exclusive new enhancements, including customizable window layouts, metadata editing, performance optimizations, and interactive tutorials. These new features create a powerful and flexible audio production environment, increasing workflow and efficiency while consistently delivering the pristine audio quality the recording industry has come to expect from Sound Forge software.

New in Sound Forge Pro 10

  • Event-based editing — Event-based editing is ideal for precise audio mastering, assembling project sketches, or laying out tracks for authoring disc-at-once CDs. In Sound Forge 10, users can quickly move, split, slip, and trim events, create fades, apply ASR envelopes and crossfades within in a single data window for more precise audio control.
  • Integrated Disc-at-Once (DAO) CD burning — Integrated disc-at-once CD burning results in time savings and provides a more efficient workflow when generating Red Book compliant disc-at-once premasters of music suitable for professional replication. Perform full PQ code editing, create live-style CDs, add CD text and metadata, and use high-resolution source audio with precise conversion to Red Book audio.
  • Zplane élastique Pro Timestretch DirectX® plug-in — The élastique time stretch and pitch shift plug-in provides better sounding audio when processing audio files. Users can also monitor and adjust settings while previewing in real-time, and select from various stretching methods that are tailored to their source audio including Pro, Soloist, and Efficient modes.
  • iZotope 64-bit SRC (sample rate conversion) and MBIT+ dither (bit-depth conversion) — The iZotope 64-bit SRC utilizes a hybrid low pass filter design, resulting in pristine audio with less aliasing converting material from one sampling rate to another. The iZotope MBIT+ dither employs psychoacoustic methods to distribute noise into less audible ranges, resulting in improved audio and smoother fades when converting the bit rates of audio files.
  • Musical instrument file processing (.DLS, .SF2, .GIG) — Sound Forge Pro 10 software opens, processes, and saves DLS, GigaStudio/GigaSampler, and SoundFont 2.0 musical instrument files. Users can view bank, instrument, note range, and sample information. Effects and processes can easily be added directly to samples.
  • Customizable window layouts — Customizable window layouts are designed to maximize productivity by allowing users to create and save multiple unique interface layout configurations for single and dual monitor systems, and recall a window layout for specific editing tasks such as audio editing, CD layout, and multichannel file editing.
  • Mastering Effects Bundle 2 powered by iZotope™ — The powerful bundle of audio mastering tools included with Sound Forge 10 is valued at over $200 and includes six professional plug-ins to expertly master and enhance audio production: Mastering EQ, Mastering Reverb, Multiband Compressor, Mastering Limiter, Stereo Imager, and Harmonic Exciter.
  • Interactive tutorials — Sony Creative Software’s unique interactive tutorials provide walkthrough demonstrations of common features and functionality, including DAO CD burning, vinyl recording and restoration in order to help users spend less time learning and more time editing and mastering audio projects.

Sound Forge Pro 10 is available for an MSRP of $499 USD.

iZotope releases Radius

iZotope Radius

iZotope has released Radius, a new software bringing world class time-stretching and pitch-shifting to Apple’s Logic Pro and Soundtrack Pro.

You can easily change the pitch of a single instrument, voice, or entire ensemble while preserving the timing and acoustic space of the original recording. iZotope Radius is designed to match the natural timbres even with extreme pitch shifts.

iZotope Radius allows you to change the tempo without affecting the pitch or tone of the performance. Instrument attacks, percussive hits, and the sound stage remain untouched, even at extreme stretches.

Using an advanced hybrid method, iZotope Radius is able to preserve transients and sustained material at the same time. For example, when stretching a recording with sustained brass and pizzicato strings, iZotope Radius preserves continuity of the brass notes as well as the timing and attack characteristics of the strings.

Radius features

  • Preserve transient attacks and timing accuracy.
  • Maintain the acoustic space and sound stage.
  • Unique hybrid design offers completely transparent operation.
  • Time stretching between 12.5% and 800%, pitch shifting between -36 and +36 semitones.
  • Formant correction with adjustable correction strength and correction amount for both Mix and Solo modes.
  • Preserves Dolby matrix encoding.
  • Phase coherent design preserves stereo image during processing.
  • Supports sampling rates up to 192 kHz.

Radius is available for purchase for $399.99 USD.
