FXpansion Zildjian Digital Vault

FXpansion has announced the release of Zildjian Digital Vault, a comprehensive collection of Zildjian cymbal recordings ready to slot into your BFD2 or BFD Eco installation.

Zildjian Digital Vault features 34 classic crashes, splashes, rides, chinas and hihats hand-selected by Zildjian’s master cymbal tester Paul Francis. Recorded in intricate detail by sampling guru John Emrich, the sounds are captured with crisp direct mics and lush stereo overhead and room mic sets. Each cymbal is recorded at multiple velocities while being struck by sticks, brushes and mallets. The included cymbals feature articulations for bow, edge and bell positions while hihats feature tip and edge hits at 5 positions between open and closed.

Included are 14 A-series, 9 K-series and 11 FX cymbals from the Zildjian range as well as a series of authentic drumkit grooves.

Note: This product combines 3 previous Gen16-branded products (Z-Pack1, S-Pack1 and S-Pack2).

Platinum Samples has released Military Cadence, a collection of MIDI cadence grooves played by John Emrich.

Military Cadence is a collection of grooves in 2/4, 4/4, and 6/8 time signatures. This collection also includes common Rolls and Rudiments. Rudiments are the foundation of the drumming vocabulary. Every serious drum instructor has received a set of hand written rudiments from their teachers and continue to pass them along to new students. We have included these sheets as well.

FXpansion releases BFD2 JEX Expansion Kit

FXpansion JEX

FXpansion has released JEX, the first Expansion Kit for BFD2.

John Emrich’s XDrum kit (JEX) features a high-end, custom hand-made kit from XDrum’s Xotica line.

The drums are 6-ply Keller Maple shells with an additional ply of Sapeli Pommele running vertically, resulting in excellent, focused low-end. The finish is hand-applied tung oil, which leads to a very open tone.
