KarmaFX has released version 1.15 of Synth Modular, a virtual modular synthesizer for Windows and Mac.
KarmaFX Synth Modular is an advanced and highly flexible Simulated Analog Modular Synthesizer and Effect Unit.
Now, for the first time, KarmaFX Synth is also available for the Mac / OS X (Intel) / Audio Unit platform.
Changes in Synth Modular v1.15
- Synth reverted to use the VST 2.3 interface with the 2.4 SDK under Windows.
- Bugfix: Loading .WAV with loop-points was broken. Fixed.
- Bugfix: Synth would fail to load in older hosts under Windows XP (e.g. Cubase SX 3.x.x) due to DLL dependency. Fixed.
- Bugfix: Host parameter names would not update on Mac when renaming parameters or changing patches. Fixed.
- Bugfix: Synth now handles bogus host tempos gracefully.
- Bugfix: Mouse right button double click was not mapped on Mac. Fixed.
- Added simple Alt-left click mouse option to simulate right click on Mac (undocumented).
- Mac version released.
Synth Modular is available to purchase for PC and Mac for $112 USD / 76 EUR+VAT for a single platform license. A multi-platform license is $168 USD / 114 EUR+VAT.
Registered users of the PC version can register the Mac version for $56 USD / 38 EUR+VAT (50% discount) for a limited time only. A new demo version is now also available to download (expires February, 2011).

Changes in Synth Modular v1.10
- Added recording functionality to the sampler module.
- Added copy & paste buttons to the pattern module for easier pattern duplication.
- Added “New” item to input menus that adds a new default module and automatically patches it to the respective module or knob.
- The “New Bank” menuitem has been removed from main pop-up and added to the bank selection menu instead.
- Re-enabled the non-resetting, analog-style envelope attack (was disabled in v1.07). An “Analog” option has been added to the ADSR envelope attack knob. This option is on by default.
- Added “Crossfade Sustain Loop” option to right click menu in Sampler. If sustain is enabled this will alter the sample to create a seamless sustain loop by crossfading the attack/sustain/release areas.
- The keyrange/velocity view in sampler has been extended to also show the ranges of any pressed keys.
- A sample selection region can now be resized by shift-left dragging mouse close to the borders of the region.
- Shift now has to be held down when pressing up and down arrows in sampler to autoload samples from disk.
- A modules input menu now grays out the item that makes it patch to itself.
- Shift-double clicking on sample area in sampler now selects sustain region/all of sample.
- Default ADSR curve is now set to Exp.
- Location of the output module has been changed in the Empty patch template.
- Bugfix: Amplifier did not respond correctly to all-notes-off midi events. Fixed.
- Bugfix: Playing multisamples was broken. Sustain was wrongfully enabled when loading some SFZ files. Fixed.
- Bugfix: 303Like Kybd tracking was not working in 4 pole mode. Fixed.
- Bugfix: Fixed possible threading issue when connecting modulators.
- Bugfix: Interpolation across sustain loops in sampler was broken. Fixed.
- Bugfix: Fixed denormal issue in output module.

- Speed of oscillators and unison modules has been improved significantly.
- Noise generator now also works in stereo.
- Added silent output detection to filters to reduce CPU load in polyphonic patches.
- Chorus sound has been improved: Depth and delays range have been increased from 80ms to 200ms. Max number of stages has been increased from 3 to 8. A delay modulator is allocated per stage to let LFOs run out of phase. New “phase offset” parameter added for controlling LFO phase.
- “Straight” unison is now the default mode in Unison module.
