Kong Audio ChineeYangQin

Kong Audio has released ChineeYangQin, a virtual dulcimer instrument for Windows PC.

YangQin (Chinese Dulcimer) is a relatively new member of the Chinese instrument family. It was not until the late Ming Dynasty (mid-17th century) that YangQin started to show up in China.

It is well-known that dulcimer was originated from the Persian civilization, but since YangQin’s sound character fitted so well to the taste of Chinese mentalite, it soon spread widely, especially in the southern China.

Kong Audio faithfully captured and recreated YangQin for modern Chinese composers’ unfulfilled needs.

ChineeYangQin features

  • 270 MB meticulously produced sample sets.
  • Works in VSTi compatible hosts.
  • All samples are recorded in 1-bit/2.8 MHz.
  • ChineeYangQin (in C) contains various types of legato, rolls and back-striking playing techniques. The note range is from A2–A6.

ChineeYangQin is available as a VST instrument for Windows PC (no 64-bit host support) for $60 USD. For a limited time (until July 17, 2009), any new customer of the Essential China and Instant China packs can get ChineeYangQin with a 50% discount.

Kong Audio ChineeSheng

Kong Audio has released ChineeSheng, a virtual mouth organ instrument for Windows PC.

As one of the earliest and most commonly recognized Chinese instruments, Sheng, a free-reed, mouth-blown instrument, which can be traced back to at least 3,000 years ago, has withstood against time and still is a vital key piece in today’s Chinese music. Sheng is also said to have inspired the creation of Accordion and Harmonica.

Sheng is extremely versatile and expressive in its own right, with a wide note ranage, as well as much the broad tonal textures, as demonstrated in our official audio demo.

Due to its portability and the polyphony nature, Sheng is also one of the few common accompanying instruments in Chinese music. It’s a must-have piece for scoring a more comprehensive Chinese-themed music.

ChineeSheng features

  • 270 MB meticulously produced sample sets.
  • All samples are recorded in 24 bit 96 kHz.
  • ChineeSheng (in D) contains various types of long tones, vibratos, spit tongues, roll tongues, chorus, and various playing expressions.
  • The note range is from A3–F#6.

ChineeSheng is available as a VST instrument for Windows for $60 USD.

Kong Audio

Kong Audio has released updated versions of all Chinee Series plug-ins.

Changes in Kong Audio plug-ins

  • New 12-note Keyswitching Patches. All plugins (except for Chineekong V2+) now come with new presets utilizing 12-note (C1-B1) keyswitching, giving users a vastly improved live playability. Also added is a more detailedly mapped basic patch to each of the 7 plugins. The new patches breath a new life to the plugins.
  • No more abrupt notes cutting off during the keyswitching process.
  • Pitch Envelope is now added to ChineeWinds and ChineeNanxiao besides Guzheng.
  • Changes are made to keyswitching in Chineekong V2+ under the hood. Now keyswitching must be confined to MIDI channel 1, but no more abrupt notes cutting-off during the keyswitching process. It’s now practical to set up keyswitching in Chineekong V2+ and use it either for live performance or sequencing.
  • Updated Guzheng soundbank. (Installing this updated soundbank to be used with the new plugin dll is mandatory.)
