Splurgo Audio has announced two new hard rock guitar loops sample packs.
Splurgo Audio announces the release of two new sample packs in odd timings: Hard Rock Ballad Guitars (6/8) and Progressive Rock Guitar Loops (5/4 and 7/4). All loops were recorded with a Gibson Les Paul and have been dubbed to create a fat stereo sound.
Splurgo Hard Rock guitar sample packs
Hard Rock Ballad Guitars – Get ready for some heavier riffs and chord patterns in 6/8 timing. This pack contains 64 guitar loops recorded at 100 bpm (6/8). All files are available in Acid Pro Wav and Apple Garageband AIFF.
Progressive Rock Guitar Loops – Unlike most pop and rock music, progressive rock doesn’t have typical verse-chorus structures or 4/4 timing. This sample pack has 65 modern progressive rock guitar riffs and chord progressions recorded at 100 bpm and will show you that there’s more to explore in 5/4 and 7/4. All files are available in Acid Pro Wav and Apple Garageband AIFF.
Both sample packs are available to purchase for $8.95 USD each.

Muze is an Arduino instrumentalist who creates melodies that evolve over time.
Muze has a palette of notes that it can in-turn interpret and compose into various rhythms and phrases that are strung together to form something musical. The user can then influence these strings of notes and rhythms to create entirely new compositions. Much like you would a tune a radio to get a new song, Muze can be tuned to provide new and different melodies.
In the interest of keeping Muze from becoming another knob laden techno-fest of an instrument, interaction has been limited to just one input.
On Rainlith, the primitive naturally granular sound of a big rainstick gets explored in real-time by cyber-age sound manipulation tools.
It's an interactive piece in witch the movement of the audience's body activates an electric motor, making a reflex movement on the structure that embraces the instrument. The sound of the rainstick is captured and processed in realtime, and sent 24 meters above, filling the empty space of a old industrial cereal container. The reverberated acoustic mix is then received back by the audience in the spot right below the opening of the container.
NeuronDrum is a sample based rhythm composer by Poul Vestergaard.
It has 512 audio samples 32MB. Most of the sounds are made for electronica music. All rhythms is made of a neuron based approach with 8 neurons.
The first neuron works as a kind off metronome. All neuron can send impulses to each other. Every neuron has a threshold value. If the threshold is 3 then it will need 4 impuses to fire the sample, and send impulses to other neurons.
Electronic musician, vocalist, and inventor Tim Exile is back; while the Google Doodle today of an interactive Les Paul inspired lots of people to invest some time fiddling and hacking, in Tim’s case, it inspired a whole song. And, to my knowledge, it’s the first time the homepage of Google got its own ode.

Lyrical Distortion has released Silverburst – Direct, an electric guitar sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
Lyrical Distortion is proud to present Silverburst, a 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst electric guitar, recorded direct via Countryman Type 85 Active Direct Box, Great River ME-1NV, Apogee Rosetta and programmed/scripted for use in Kontakt 3.5 or better to be easily played or sequenced through an amp or amp simulator.
Silverburst represents a unique sounding instrument, sampled with incredible depth and playability. Silverburst, we sampled four variations of every note for every articulation, utilizing random cycling for authentic swift repetitive lines. In addition, we also recorded the articulations twice, to allow independent control of two guitars for double tracking.
The patches include single note picking, single note up picking, single note hammer-on’s, single note pull offs, performed power-chords (I and V), performed up power-chords (I and V) and more. Also, all patches are available as performed palm-mutes as well as non-muted.
Silverburst is like that of no other sampled guitar library currently available.
Silverburst – Direct is available to the introductory price of $99 USD until May 1st, 2011 (MSRP $149.99 USD).
