Goldbaby Productions just released the third and final volume of its MPC60 series of sample libraries.

MPC60 Vol 3 features over 1,000 sounds sampled on a vintage Akai MPC-60 sampler.

This is the last in the MPC60 series of sample packs. It includes: Layered Drums, Vinyl Drums, Various Drum Machines, FX and even some synth sounds…. all sampled on the MPC60. Then captured as 24 bit wav files. These are some seriously solid samples dripping with the 60’s legendary sonic character.

Taking a look at the sound sources for volume 3 of the MPC60 series you may notice some familiar names like the Oberheim DMX, Emu Drumulator, Roland CR-78, MFB522, Vermona DRM and Linn LM-1 drum machines. It looks like Goldbaby went crate digging in his own sample collection!

The 1,053 wav samples are categorized in various folders for easy browsing. Besides the drum machine samples there is also a folder with layered drums. This is one of those tricks most hip hop producers will know about. Layering a drum hit will give you a fatter, bigger drum sound.

Pendle Poucher has released the Pendleonium, a sample library of a custom instrument.

A new hybrid instrument made from 6 different layers of assorted electrical and acoustical stringed things that can sound like anything from a battered mellotron to a rusty balalaika.

The Pendleonium features

• Instrument components:
  • Danelectro Baritone guitar recorded through Roland RE501 chorus echo and a Roger Linn Adrenalinn 3 amp.
  • Sparkly silver Fernandes Sustainer Native guitar recorded through the tape echo and amp.
  • Unknown viola mic’ed and then run through a Vermona Retroverb spring reverb.
• Recorded 24bit with many velocity levels, total size: 951 MB.
• 3 pages of Kontakt scripting allow intimate control of volume levels, filters, pan etc. for a massive variety of sound possibilities.
• Also includes mixed down (16bit, easy on the CPU) simple version and separate instrument versions and a multi.

Pendleonium is currently available in Kontakt 2/3, EXS and SFZ formats, priced at £15 GBP.

Goldbaby has released a new collection of drum samples: Vinyl Drum Machines.

Nope, Hugo @ Goldbaby hasn’t been crate digging for obscure vinyl for his latest product. Instead he had his own acetate record cut so he could sample drum machine sounds to get that authentic vinyl touch.

Sampling off vinyl has been a staple of many producers since samplers were invented. Vinyl has an unmistakable sound. Using it as a sample source you get material that is dripping with personality and warmth, that digital sources just can’t recreate.

I have always wanted a record with just drum machine samples on it. Finally I did something about it.

The result is a record with of 14 drum machines: Linn Drum, TR-626, CR-78, MBase 01, DR-110, Linn LM-1, Drumulator, TR-808, Ritmo 12, TR-909, TR-505, µTonic, SP-12, TR-606.

Vergel Evans recently posted a nice collection of drumkits for Kontakt 3.

After finding some nice drum machine samples at soundlib.noisetheorem.com, Vergel created a multi-set of drum kits for Kontakt 3.

It was quite a find… not only did soundlib have an extensive collection of TR-808 and TR-909 samples, it also has a whole collection of samples for the Boss-660, and a set of custom built Cwejman modular drums. Each with tons of variations.

Leaving those extensive sample banks aside, I compiled a broad selection of my favorite retro drum machines, into a multi-set of drum kits for Kontakt3. The kits aren’t perfect, but atleast the drum sets are laid out in order and ready for anyone to personalize them to make them their own.

Goldbaby’s product catalog is full of high quality drum samples recorded with vintage gear. This time the E-mu SP-1200 and SP-12 drum samplers take center stage.

Not everyone can get their hands on one of these machines. So I thought I better help out. I got the SP-1200 and the SP-12 and started sampling. I sampled an 808, 909, 606 and LM1… also some real drums… plus some vinyl hits… and just for good measure I have included the SP-12 presets and some groove templates…

Goldbaby Productions has released SP-1200 Vol 1, a sample library featuring drum sounds sampled on the E-mu SP-1200 and SP-12.

What do 12 bit drum samples sound like when put through an analogue filter. If you have a SP-1200 or SP-12 then you already know the answer. Some would say dirty and warm, some also say it sounds like old vinyl…

The SP-1200 is a legendary drum sampler. Used by many artist from Roni Size to Daft Punk. Hip Hop legends Pete rock and J Dilla were also notible users.
