Native Instruments releases Arcane Attic for Maschine

Native Instruments has announced the release of Arcane Attic, a new Maschine Expansion pack featuring gritty field recordings.

Designed for unconventional beat making across all styles and genres, this Expansion was created, recorded, and designed by BOOM Library. ARCANE ATTIC also comes with new presets for MASSIVE and MASCHINE’s Drum Synths, with a selection of sounds that perfectly complement the out of the ordinary sample material.

Native Instruments Arcane Attic

The high-quality field recordings in ARCANE ATTIC are aimed at electronic music producers or simply anyone looking to add unconventional sounds to their productions. The range of sounds is highly diverse and organized into several categories. It represents a wide spectrum from robotic and mechanical science fiction recordings to heavy cinematic metal impacts, slams, strikes, and buzzing, percussive details. A set of elemental sounds explode with kinetic fire and water blasts. Producers looking to spice up their percussion will also find a range of pistol, rifle, and cannon sounds that have been transformed into pounding drums. Finally, a set of orchestral samples recorded with a live orchestra are included for adding rich, larger-than-life melodies to productions.

Complementing ARCANE ATTIC’s field recordings are a new set of 40 presets for MASSIVE, which provide additional melodic possibilities beyond the orchestral samples. 43 MASCHINE 2 Drum Synth presets feature a clean sound designed to complement ARCANE ATTIC’s gritty sample set with added punch and character. In total, ARCANE ATTIC features 7 projects, 39 drum kits, and 7 special kits, plus a set of 140 pre-arranged patterns for quick inspiration.

ARCANE ATTIC was created by BOOM Library – the sound design company founded in 2010 by Axel Rohrbach, Pierre Langer, and Tilman Sillescu. The sounds are a selection from the BOOM Library product line – now for the first time directly accessible within the MASCHINE beat production environment. Their sound libraries have been featured in films like ‘Sin City – A Dame To Die For’, TV series such as ‘From Dusk Till Dawn The Series’, Games like ‘Battlefield 4’ and trailers for ‘The Hobbit – The
Desolation Of Smaug’, and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

A condensed version of ARCANE ATTIC is also available as an iMASCHINE Expansion, for creating unconventional beats on-the-go. The iMASCHINE Expansion features 2 projects and 4 drum kits. Tracks can be exported to MASCHINE STUDIO, MASCHINE, and MASCHINE MIKRO for completion.

Arcane Attic is available for purchase for $49 / 49 EUR / £44 GBP. Requires Maschine 2 software. The iMaschine Expansion is available for $0.99 USD / 0.89 EUR / £0.69 GBP.

Native Instruments has released version 1.1 of iMaschine, the beat sketchpad for iOS devices.

Native Instruments iMaschine
The latest version of the app is optimized for iPad, adapting to its larger screen layout. The update also includes a generous set of new sounds, iTunes sampling, and more.

iMASCHINE allows users to create music sketches on-the-go with their iPad or iPhone. With an eclectic selection of drums, synths, one-shots, and a built-in audio recorder, it is designed for on-the-go beatmaking.

The update features a new user interface and an optimized layout for iPhone 5, iPad and iPad mini. On the iPad, the modified interface allows two-handed operation: editing and performing functions are now on the same window as iMASCHINE’s 16 drum-pads, 2-octave keyboard and the audio-recorder, making its workflow even smoother. Aside from iMASCHINE’s standard library, the update also includes QUANTUM COLLECTION – a brand-new iMASCHINE Expansion featuring a choice selection of sounds from the recently released MASCHINE 2 Library. The new iTunes sampling allows users to capture parts from the music on their iOS device and edit the samples’ start and end points.

Writing and performing with iMASCHINE becomes easier, thanks to a number of helpful workflow enhancements. Intuitive XY performance controls are a new way to perform effects. A swipe redo/undo function is a welcome addition for an even faster workflow. Lastly, this iMASCHINE update adds a metronome on/off switch – a popular request from the iMASCHINE community. Anyone who already owns iMASCHINE gets this entire feature set, including QUANTUM COLLECTION, for free by updating the iMASCHINE app on their iOS device.

Changes in iMaschine v1.1

  • iPad optimization for two handed-workflow.
  • Sampling from iTunes.
  • Free ‘Quantum Collection’ sound pack.
  • XY performance controls on mixer page.
  • Swipe gestures for redo and undo.
  • GUI facelift.
  • Enhanced sample editing functionality, start and end point now adjustable.
  • iPhone 5 screen support.

Current iMASCHINE owners get the update free by updating the iMASCHINE app on their iOS device. New customers can get iMASCHINE for $4.99 / 4.49 EUR / £2.99 GBP.

Producertech releases Producer’s Guide to Music Theory with Maschine

Related: , , , , , Posted in news on May 19, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Producertech has launched Producer’s Guide to Music Theory with Maschine, a video tutorial course by Rob Jones.

Producer’s Guide to Music Theory with Maschine

If you own Maschine and feel you could do with a bit more knowledge on the theoretical side of music, to help you understand how to create basslines, chord sequences and other musical parts in a particular key, then this course is for you.

Created by accomplished music producer and classically trained musician, Rob Jones, the course begins by explaining the principles of the key of a song and what major and minor scales are, before showing how that knowledge can be used to make melodies or riffs using various intervals and chords, in order to produce basslines, a main hook, lead or pad sound, to create the main groove or form the breakdown of a track.

As well as showing many examples of all of the techniques taught, which are outlined in the written notes and saved into the Maschine project files that come with the course, there are also exercise projects, for practicing identifying keys and making basslines or chord sequences, to put your newly acquired skills to the test. Check out the free lesson excerpt below before signing up, for an example of the course content and delivery…

The course is available for purchase for £19.95 GBP.

Producertech launches House Production with Maschine by Rob Jones

Producertech has launched House Production with Maschine by Rob Jones, a video tutorial course for Native Instruments Maschine.

House Production with Maschine by Rob Jones

This course takes you through all of the stages of creating a classic, melodic, deep house track with Maschine, from the initial creation of the beats, right through to exporting the final mix, with virtually the whole process done from the hardware control surface.

After the beats are constructed in the first lesson, which is available as a free sample of the course, the second lesson shows how all of the melodic parts of the track are conceived, using the main chord sequence as the basis. A lengthy vocal sample is then edited, sliced and processed to form a number of different vocal parts, used throughout the track, which is then arranged and mixed, all within Maschine.

In addition to the Maschine project from the course, there are 4 Maschine kits supplied from Loopmasters’ Niche Audio range, as well as a bonus pack of additional House samples too.

The course is available for purchase for £19.95 GBP.

Native Instruments launches “A Giant Beat for Mankind” sale

Related: , , , , , , , , Posted in news on May 05, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Native Instruments has launched A Giant Beat for Mankind, a limited-time sales special to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Maschine.

A Giant Beat for Mankind
Until May 31, MASCHINE STUDIO, MASCHINE and MASCHINE MIKRO will each be available at a significant discount from their regular prices, both at retailers and at the NI Online Shop.

Launched in 2009, MASCHINE significantly changed computer based beat production by merging the playability and feel of hardware with the innovations and flexibility of software. In five years, MASCHINE has established itself as the premium groove production tool for producers across all genres. MASCHINE STUDIO, the latest addition to the product range, is NI’s new flagship groove production studio. It provides hardware controls for all key features in the latest MASCHINE 2 software, and these generous control options offer a particularly quick and intuitive workflow. Features include large, high-res color screens for viewing waveforms, patterns, scenes, and NI product visuals, plus a dedicated section for monitoring mixer and meter levels.

MASCHINE and MASCHINE MIKRO are now in their second hardware generation. MASCHINE features dedicated group buttons and a master push encoder. Most software functions are accessible directly from the hardware without any button shortcuts, offering users a fast way to capture ideas. Eight display knobs automatically map to key instrument parameters for on-the-fly tweaking and sound shaping. MASCHINE MIKRO is highly compact for use anywhere. MIKRO features the same responsive pads as MASCHINE STUDIO and MASCHINE. Intelligent keypad shortcuts mean users get full software access despite its small footprint.

All three hardware versions feature the same powerful software. Among the new features in MASCHINE 2 software are sidechaining, unlimited groups, a new library, and a set of sonically-outstanding drum synths that allow producers to quickly design their own drum sounds.

Until May 31st 2014 at 24:00 (CET), Maschine Studio is available for purchase for 799 USD/EUR (regular 999 USD/EUR), Maschine is 499 USD/EUR (regular 599 USD/EUR), and the Maschine Mikro is 299 USD/EUR (regular 349 USD/EUR).
