MidiKarval MidiTransposer Plus

MidiKarval has released MidiTransposer Plus, a midi utility plug-in for Windows.

With MidiTransposer Plus you can transpose you midi keyboard or a midi track/midi file in your sequencer on the fly, simply pressing a midi button, one or two keys of your midi keyboard or using its knobs/sliders.

MidiTransposer Plus features

  • Three modes: CC mode (button + key, button + knob), and Notes mode (key + key).
  • The “CC/Notes” switch can be assigned to a midi button through your host’s automation function.
  • Using the “Channel Filter” you can exclude a midi channel from the transposition (typically midi channel 10, usually assigned to drums, if you are playing a midi file); the Channel Filter can be set on “Off” so that all midi channels are affected by the transposition.
  • You can change the CC messages used by MidiTransposer Plus through the relevant drop lists in its GUI.
  • MidiTransposer Plus has a “no hanging notes” function in case one or more notes are sounding while you are transposing.

MidiTransposer Plus is available to purchase as a VST plug-in for Windows PC.

MidiKarval releases Midi Drawbars

MidiKarval Midi Drawbars

MidiKarval has released Midi Drawbars, a VST midi processor aimed to dramatically change the sound of your VST instruments the same way in which the Hammond organ’s drawbars change the sound of a pure sine wave.

Each drawbar adds to the note(s) you play another note at a specified interval, whose velocity ratio to the note(s) you play depends on how much you pull out the drawbar.

Midi Drawbars features

  • Midi Drawbars comes with some drawbars settings, but you can create your own settings and save them in each one of the 128 memories.
  • Moving the “Original/Drawbars” switch it’s always possible to compare the original sound with the modified one.
  • Nine sliders, or knobs of a MIDI keyboard, set to send CC messages #12 to 20, can be used to move the drawbars and a button sending CC message #21 can be used to move the “Original/Drawbars” switch.

Midi Drawbars is available to purchase VST plug-in for Windows PC, priced at 10 EUR. A demo version is fully functional for a 15 minutes period of time (It then expires and you have to remove and re-load it in your host to use it again).

MidiKarval updates B4 Controller to v1.2

MidiKarval B4 Controller v1.2

MidiKarval has released version 1.2 of B4 Controller, a VST midi processor for Native Instruments B4 II (or the B4 previous version).

Changes in B4 Controller v1.2

  • New GUI.
  • Inverted Keys – “Upper Manual Only”: if you active this function, the “Inverted Keys” function doesn’t work on the lower keyboard, but on the upper only, so that you can use the whole range of your lower keyboard, eventually in the “Pedals/Lower Split” mode.
  • Pedals “Coupler” And “Staccato”: when the “Pedals/Lower Split” function and the “Ped./Lower Coupler” function are active, using the “pedals octaves” of your keyboard you can play in unison the pedals and the lower manual, as many great jazz organists do. Moreover you can choose to make the pedals sound “staccato” (like an upright bass, whilst the “meat of the bass” comes from the lower manual sound).
  • Now you can activate/deactivate the B4 Controller’s functions directly clicking on the black labels with your mouse’s left button (whilst clicking on such labels with the right buttons allows to change the value shown on each label).

B4 Controller is available as a VST effect plug-in for Windows PC for 15 EUR. A fully functional demo version can be downloaded from the product page (15 minute limit, then you need to reload the plug-in to use it).

MidiKarval updates VB3 Controller to v1.1

MidiKarval VB3 Controller

MidiKarval has released version 1.1 of VB3 Controller, a midi processor for controlling the VB3 synth by GSi.

The VB3 Controller is a midi processor VSTi that allows you to control, using a midi controller keyboard, the VB3’s five drawbar sets (upper manual A and B sets, lower manual A and B sets, and pedals) from a single set of nine physical drawbars (sliders or knobs).

Changes in VB3 Controller v1.1

  • INVERTED KEYS – “USE UPPER FOR BOTH”: pressing one of the keys (C# to A keys) of your upper manual’s “inverted octave” you can call up the relevant presets (internal or “alternative” presets) of such both manuals’ “inverted key” (this is useful if you want to have consistent presets on both manuals with only one touch). The “Use Upper for both” function doesn’t work with Bb and B “inverted keys”, so you can temporarily change the preset of the upper manual without affecting the sound of the lower one.
  • PEDALS “COUPLER” AND “STACCATO”: when the “Pedals/Upper” or “Pedals/Lower” function and the “Coupler” function are active, using the “pedals octaves” of your keyboard you can play in unison the pedals’ sound and the lower manual sound, as many great jazz organists do. Moreover you can choose to make the pedals sound “staccato” (like an upright bass, whilst the “meat of the bass” comes from the lower manual sound). According to Joey DeFrancesco, this is the secret to kicking bass (see Keyboard Magazine, n. 6/1999, page 50). Changing the value in the “Staccato” label you can activate/deactivate the “Staccato” mode and select the relevant length, expressed in milliseconds (from 20 to 400 ms.).
  • Now you can activate/deactivate the VB3 Controller’s functions directly clicking on the relevant labels with your mouse’s left button (whilst clicking on the labels with the right buttons allows to change the value shown on each label).

VB3 Controller is availabe as a VST plug-in for Windows PC for 10 EUR. A fully functional demo version is available from the product page (expires after 15 minutes of use, remove and re-load it in your host to use it again).

MidiKarval MidiRouter

MidiKarval has released MidiRouter, a VST midi processor made for all live performing keyboardists whose gear is “simply” a midi keyboard and a computer stored with VST instruments.

MidiRouter stands in your VST host between its midi in and your VST instruments (up to eight instruments, each one assigned to a different midi channel) and allows you to change the transmitting midi channel and, as a consequence, the playing instrument and the relevant volume level in different ways:

  1. from the MidiRouter’s interface using the mouse (directly pushing on the relevant blue labels to choose the instrument to be played and clicking and vertically dragging on the relevant white number to increase or decrease the volume level);
  2. sending Control Change messages from your midi keyboard, using its buttons, knobs or sliders (“CC mode”);
  3. using some (4 or 8) keys of your midi keyboard to choose the instrument to be played (“Keys mode”), whilst you have to use the a) or b) method above in order to change the volume level.

MidiRouter is available as a VST plug-in for Windows PC and costs 20 EUR. A fully functional deom version is available for download from the product page (expires after 15 minutes of use, remove and re-load it in your host to use it again).

MidiKarval releases Drawbars Mapper for XK-3

MidiKarval Drawbars Mapper for XK-3

MidiKarval has released Drawbars Mapper for XK-3, a freeware VST plug-in for Windows PC.

If you have ever tried to use your Hammond XK-3 for playing the VB3 or B4 organ plug-ins you may have encountered a big problem – whilst in the above mentioned plug-in organs each drawbar responds to a particular CC message number, the XK-3 drawbars send out only three CC message numbers: #80 for all the upper drawbars, #81 for all the lower drawbars and #82 for the two pedal drawbars.

Drawbars Mapper for XK-3 (DMfXK-3) solves this problem and allows you to enjoy your XK-3′s manuals and drawbars playing those Hammond clones.

Simply open it in your VST host application, connect the host MIDI input to the DMfXK-3′s MIDI input and its MIDI output to the MIDI input of the plug-in organ. The 4 LEDs indicate which plug-in’s drawbars set is moved or if other MIDI messages (notes, other CCs, etc.) are sent to the plug-in.

MidiKarval releases VB3 Controller

MidiKarval VB3 Controller

MidiKarval has released VB3 Controller, a midi processor for controlling SoundFonts.it’s VB3 synth.

VB3 Controller features

  • Controller: control the VB3’s five drawbar sets (upper manual A and B sets, lower manual A and B sets, and pedals) from a single set of nine physical drawbars (sliders or knobs) using a midi controller keyboard.
  • Inverted Keys: on the original tonewheel organ that VB3 emulates, the bottom octave notes have reverse color keys (“inverted keys”) that call up preset sounds. VB3 and separately VB3 Controller mimics this use of note keys to provide the player with presets.
  • Alternative Presets: provide 6 banks (2 banks in the demo version) of 18 presets each (9 for the upper manual drawbars and 9 for the lower manual drawbars). Each preset can be called up by pressing one of the keys (C# to A keys) of your midi keyboard(s) “inverted octave” and shows the relevant drawbar positions on VB3, plus you can also temporarily change these preset drawbar settings. (The bottom C key is cancel sound or mute).
  • Split Mode: reserve the bottom two octaves of your 5 octaves midi keyboard(s) for playing the VB3 pedalboard.
  • Programs Section: store your favourite VB3 Controller’s settings in one of the 10 re-namable programs for future use.

VB3 Controller is available as a VST instrument for Windows PC and costs 10 EUR. A fully functional demo is available for download (15 minute limit per session).
