Tascam has announced the US-322 and US-366, two new USB audio interfaces

Tascam US-366
Tascam’s new US-366 USB 2.0 audio interface with DSP Mixer.

These interfaces combine compelling new technologies like on-board digital mixers (DSP Mixer) and on-board digital effects (DSP Effects) along with advances on the wildly popular US-122mkII and US-144mkII interfaces. The US-322 and US-366 sport similar aluminum casings for the same rugged reliability plus new improved HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture) mic pres. These HDDA Mic Pres offer a wider frequency response (10Hz to 68kHz), high S/N ratio (98dB), low EIN (-120dBu) and low THD+N (0.0045%); qualities rarely achieved in interfaces this affordable.

These all-new interfaces boast low S/N ratio, low THD and the US-366 flaunts 24bit/192kHz recording; certifying these as the best sounding interfaces to be released by TASCAM yet. The 2-in/2-out US-322 features 1 Mic XLR/Line-Guitar TRS input, 1 Mic XLR/Line TRS input, 2 Line TRS and 2 Line RCA outputs. The 6-in/4-out or 4-in/6-out US-366 adds 2 Line RCA inputs and 1 Digital RCA/Optical input/output. One click of the top-loaded “Mixer Panel” button will access TASCAM’s new mixing console screen and on-board insert/send effects for easy-to-use, versatile recording. The digital mixer offers two operational modes, multi-track mode and stereo-mix mode.

After months of organized tests by TASCAM’s esteemed engineers and R&D department, the new TASCAM interfaces are guaranteed to offer new luxuries, reliability and value not found before in competing models. TASCAM’s US-322 and US-366 are bundled with Cubase LE6, feature easy-to-use controls, amazing quality, and feature-rich technology, advantages sure to please professional and amateur recording artists alike.

The US-322 and US-366 are priced ESP $149.99 USD and $199 USD respectively.

Alesis introduces MultiMix 10 Wireless & MultiMix 16 USB FX mixers

Related: , , , , , , , , , Posted in news on Jan 25, 2013

Alesis has announced MultiMix 10 Wireless and MultiMix 16 USB FX, two new models to its MultiMix Series of live and recording mixers.

As the name suggests, the MultiMix 10 Wireless now features Bluetooth capabilities, and the MultiMix 16 USB FX now offers onboard effects.

“These mixers bring exciting new features to our popular MultiMix lineup,” says Alesis Project Manager Walter Skorupski. “We are very pleased to add these models to the mix.”

Alesis MultiMix 10 Wireless

The MultiMix 10 Wireless is a 10-channel, rack-mount mixer that is well suited to smaller clubs and venues, houses of worship, and traveling systems. Channels 1-4 are mono and offer both XLR mic inputs (selectable phantom power is provided) and balanced 1/4″ inputs. TRS inserts are also provided. Channels 5/6 and 7/8 are stereo-paired channels, offering left and right balanced 1/4″ ins. Channels 7/8 also offer a pair of stereo RCA inputs. Configured in stereo, Channels 9/10 are dedicated to receiving a stereo audio signal from any Bluetooth-enabled device. Simple, single-button front-panel pairing makes it easy. Each channel offers a peak LED, trim knob, 2-band EQ, pre and post sends, a pan knob, and a smooth-travelling 60mm fader.

On the back panel, the MultiMix 10 Wireless features 1/4″ aux sends and 1/4″ balanced stereo returns. The main stereo outs are 1/4″ balanced, and an additional set of 1/4″ stereo monitor outs are provided. Up on the front panel, the Master section includes additional easy-access XLR+1/4″ combo inputs for Channels 1 and 2 that override the respective rear inputs, making it easy to temporarily connect a microphone or other sound source without removing the mixer from the rack. An 1/8″ jack allows a non-Bluetooth source to access Channel 9. Located alongside the master fader, the twin 10-stage LED meters feature red peak indicators. A dedicated headphone jack is provided; the level is controlled by the monitor/phones knob. A very handy 1/8″ output provides the main mix directly from the front panel.

Alesis MultiMix 16 USD FX

The new MultiMix 16 USB FX performs double-duty as a versatile live and recording mixer and as a USB audio (16-bit, 44.1 or 48 kHz) interface for computer-based recording, even doing both at the same time. This class-compliant connection provides true plug-and-play connectivity with the computer and nearly any recording software. The versatility of the MultiMix 16 USB FX is ideal for the performing musician with a home or project studio.

The onboard processor (FX) offers 8 effect types, with individual sends on each channel. Eight mono channels include both 1/4″ and XLR inputs, with selectable phantom power. Four stereo-paired channels feature 1/4″ inputs. A direct guitar-level input is available on Channel 8. Each channel strip includes a multi-band EQ, sends, pan, and level control. Multi-stage LED metering, dedicated main and headphone outputs with individual levels, and two-track RCA tape ins and outs complete this multi-use mixer. Cubase LE6 is included.

Alesis will be exhibiting at Booth 6700 at the 2013 Winter NAMM show, January 24-27 in Anaheim, California.

Numark NS7 II

For more than 20 years, Numark has set the pace in the world of digital DJing, empowering DJs with cutting-edge technology that has continually advanced the art form. In 2007, Numark and Serato® released NS7, a controller that blends different eras of DJing so completely it makes them virtually indistinguishable from each other. PreSonus intros StudioLive 32.4.2AI Digital Mixing System with Active Integration

PreSonus has introduced the StudioLive 32.4.2AI, a 32-channel performance and recording digital mixer.

This new mixer features next-generation Active Integration technology, including a dual-core computing engine that packs over 64 times the processing power and an incredible 10,000 times more RAM than the previous top-of-the-line StudioLive 24.4.2. Its sophisticated, integral communications also makes possible wireless control of the mixer without requiring an external computer.

PreSonus StudioLive 32.4.2AI

Featuring 32 Class A XMAX™ mic preamps with individually switched phantom power (plus an XMAX preamp for the Talkback input with always-on phantom), 32 line inputs, 14 aux mixes, 4 subgroups with variable output delay, Fat Channel dynamics processing and parametric EQ, a 48×34 FireWire S800 audio interface, and much more, StudioLive 32.4.2AI takes affordable digital mixing to a new level of sophistication.

Yet the new model retains the ease of use and fast workflow that helped make StudioLive mixers a worldwide success. All of the core mixing features are under your fingers, with no awkward bank switching.

StudioLive 32.4.2AI incorporates the same Fat Channel features as the award-winning StudioLive 24.4.2, including routing, panning, a high-pass filter and polarity reverse on every channel, and a full-feature gate, full-featured compressor, limiter, and 4-band fully parametric EQ on every channel, aux, subgroup, and effects bus. Taking advantage of the Active Integration engine’s massive processing power, the new mixer allows users to create two complete sets of EQ and dynamics settings for a channel and then make quick A/B comparisons with the Alt EQ/Dyn button.

Also new in this model are six mute groups with All On/All Off switches and six user-assignable Quick Scene Recall buttons that let you load specified, saved mixer scenes-sort of a speed dial for mixer scenes. The StudioLive 32.4.2AI also sports four internal effects buses: two with reverb and two with delay effects.

Unlike previous models, the StudioLive 32.4.2AI sports an Ethernet port that allows you to connect to an existing router-based network with an Ethernet cable or completely wirelessly. You also get a USB 2.0 port to host the included USB Wi-Fi LAN adapter for situations where a less powerful, ad hoc Wi-Fi network is sufficient. Using either wireless connection, the mixer can be directly controlled from a laptop or iPad®, and the aux mixes can be controlled from an iPhone® or iPod touch®; a FireWire connection to a computer is not required.

A line of option cards will be available for the StudioLive 32.4.2AI in late 2013. Every option card comes equipped with dual FireWire S800 and S/PDIF stereo output, as well as Ethernet (for control only). Two cards that add Dante for audio networking and Thunderbolt for even faster digital transfers are in development.

StudioLive 32.4.2AI is tightly integrated with updated versions of the same powerful software suite introduced for the earlier StudioLive models: VSL-AI control/editor/librarian for Mac® and Windows®, SL Remote-AI wireless remote control for iPad, QMix™-AI wireless aux-mix control for iPhone/iPod touch, Capture™ 2.0 preconfigured audio-recording software, and the highly lauded Studio One® Artist DAW. This combination of hardware and software provides features offered by no other mixer anywhere near this price class.

The StudioLive 32.4.2AI digital mixer is expected to be available in April 2013, with an anticipated MSRP of $4,999 USD and MAP of $3,999 USD.

Sound Radix updates Pi to v1.0.4 + Intro sale extended

Sound Radix Pi

Sound Radix has announced version 1.0.4 of its Pi phase interactions mixer effect plugin for Windows and Mac.

Pi works to improve the summing of a DAW or a mixer. Pi dynamically minimizes frequency cancellations between instruments within the mix, improves mono compatibility and brings back the lost depth and focus lost when overlapping frequencies collide.

Changes in Pi v1.0.4

  • New: CHNL WEIGHT – Since gain plays a major role in channels’ phase influence and sensitivity in a mix, some program material can get strongly influenced by other channels in the mix when their level is relatively low or when they decay into lower levels. With CHNL WEIGHT It is now possible to manually adjust the channel’s low level and overall phase sensitivity and intensity within the mix. As CHNL WEIGHT increases – the less sensitive and more influential it’ll be to other channels in the mix. This can help minimize artifacts on some program material, especially on low level, mid-range sustain notes and tails.
  • New: GLOBAL LOOKAHEAD BUFFER – Allows the use of larger audio buffers and other high latency plug-ins. If Pi doesn’t get all the samples it needs in time due to a larger audio buffer or other high latency plug-in, it can’t do its magic and it’ll displays Sync Errors. If you’re getting Sync Errors messages, Increase the lookahead buffer until they’re gone. Click on the Sound Radix logo to open the About screen and access this setting.
  • Major performance improvements in Windows.
  • Fixed bug causing drop-outs in some VST hosts.
  • Fixed keyboard focus issues in Cubase and Pro Tools in Windows.

Pi for Windows and Mac is available for the extended introductory offer of $180 USD until January 31st, 2013 (regular $240 USD).
