PreSonus Power-Up

PreSonus has announced Power-Up, a program that saves first-generation StudioLive digital mixer owners up to $1,200 when trading up to a new StudioLive AI-series Active Integration digital mixer.

Customers can save $500 for trading in a StudioLive 16.0.2, $800 for trading in a StudioLive 16.4.2, and $1,200 for trading in a StudioLive 24.4.2 when purchasing any StudioLive AI-series mixer.

To get the full trade-in discount, the old mixer must be in working condition and cosmetically acceptable. If not, PreSonus can repair the mixer, reducing the trade-in discount by the repair cost.

StudioLive AI-series mixers add major new features including:

  • Twice the Fat Channel processing on all input channels and buses, with A/B comparison.
  • Easy-to-network wired or wireless control from a Mac®, PC, or iOS® device.
  • Even better audio quality, thanks to the use of Studio One 64-bit mixing algorithms and Burr-Brown A/D/A converters.
  • Twice as many effects processors: two stereo reverbs and two stereo delays on dedicated buses, each with 50 customizable presets.
  • Global track and bus renaming across the network, including the mixer and all apps.
  • Mixer scenes can be saved with Capture™® Sessions and opened and edited in Studio One® or VSL-AI.
  • Smaart® audio analysis on every channel.
  • Upgradeable network options: Thunderbolt®, Dante®, and AVB.

The offer starts on April 15 and ends on June 30, 2014. The Power-Up offer is valid at all U.S. PreSonus dealers. Customers outside of the U.S. should contact their local distributor to ask about participation.

Toontrack releases Classic Amps EZmix Pack

Toontrack Classic Amps EZmix Pack

Toontrack has announced the release of the Classic Amps EZmix Pack, an expansion pack for the EZmix 2 multi-effect mix tool.

The Classic Amps EZmix Pack presents 50 complete signal chain presets including amps, stomp boxes, speakers and various effects. The speakers were modeled using custom impulse responses, capturing the essence of several premium vintage cabinets and combos. The settings express a wide variety and cover anything from clean and muffled rhythm sounds to rich and saturated leads.

“We wanted to model the most influential amps of the past 50 years and put together a collection of tones that could work for any kind of guitar oriented music. We ended up with settings spanning anything from blues to British Invasion, punk, grunge and pop”, says Toontrack sound designer Ulf Edlund.

This collection is a testament and homage to the amps that managed to survive and seep through several decades of musical progression. The inspiration to your next riff is just a mouse-click away. Make sure it sounds great – add some of that warm tube sizzle, subtle speaker rattle or warm fuzz to it!

Some say the tone is in your fingers. We beg to differ.

The pack is available for purchase for $49 USD / 39 EUR.

Fairlight CC-2

Fairlight has announced the release of CC-2, its next generation audio engine.

CC-2 is based on Fairlight’s Crystal Core Technology, powering their entire range of high-speed digital audio mixing, recording and editing systems, delivering guaranteed performance and increased efficiencies in the largest and most complex productions.

“Traditional approaches to audio processing are not enough in today’s high-track-count, multi-channel immersive surround mixing environments,” commented Tino Fibaek, Chief Technology Officer of Fairlight. “The new CC-2 guarantees rock-solid performance for our customers, with no limits. Creativity should never be limited by technology”.

CC-2 features

  • One Thousand Channels
Track counts and surround formats of today’s film and television productions require a more advanced and more scalable alternative to outdated DSP based solutions, which is why Fairlight has moved to the more advanced FPGA-based CC-2 technology. Providing 1,000 hard disk playback channels, 100 live inputs and 100+ output buses available, the CC-2 system is the fastest and most powerful audio engine ever made, perfectly suited to today’s submersive surround sound formats, including Dolby® Atmos™, DTS® MDA and NHK’s 22.2.
  • Enhanced Productivity
Tightly integrated with Fairlight’s editing and mixing environment, the new CC-2 enables a range of productivity-enhancing features including an entirely new 64 bit codebase, advanced delay compensation, and faster than real-time bounce to name just a few. With equalisation, dynamics, plug-ins and inserts always on every input and bus with near zero latency, unlimited headroom and legendary sound quality, Fairlight users will now be able to tackle larger projects, with more tracks, more processing power, and more speed with ease.
  • Accelerated Workflow
CC-2 is a quantum leap in processing power and when combined with Fairlight’s intuitive user interface, tactile control surfaces featuring their patented, self-labelling Picture Key Technology, and tight integration with third-party storage, media asset management systems or video collaboration environments, Fairlight delivers the fastest workflows of any system on the market. When faced with tight deadlines, you can rely on Fairlight to help you deliver a quality product, on time, every time, at least 20% faster than on competitive systems.
  • Invest in your future
Continuing a long tradition of seamless upgrade paths, Fairlight has ensured that CC-2 is also compatible with audio hardware purchased for CC-1. This means that owners of Fairlight systems don’t need to replace their current audio interfaces and control surfaces to upgrade to CC-2. Existing investments in Fairlight’s high-quality hardware continues to be supported, maximising the return of investment on existing equipment.
