Dimitri Schkoda has released Premonitions (Part One and Two), music made with the Avatar ST virtual synthesizer by H.G. Fortune.
Avatar Premonitions: Two CDs recorded live by Dimitri Schkoda aka Inner Dreamer featuring Avatar ST VSTi Synthesizer only (no further FX used). Even more only one patch of Avatar ST was used per track at all though with some realtime tweaking of course.
The skilful play of Dimitri Schkoda unveils the very sonic potential of this synthesizer. This is partly cinematic to orchestral ambient sometimes with a dark touch and very well suited not only for relaxation but also for intense listening of his imaginary songs done with the ‘Futuristic Orchestra’ as he calls it. He has dedicated
this masterpiece of music ‘to all friends around the world who support works of HG Fortune’.
Premonitions Part One & Two are available as a free download from H.G. Fortune. Both rar archives include images for CD cover, booklet and CD label ready for printing.
The drum and bass contest is over and looking at the entries I am well pleased with the results. We’ve not only got some massive d&b tunes, quite a few of you took this drum and bass theme into a whole new direction.
You’ve all done a great job and I thank you for participating. Without you guys there is no contest.
Alright, so on to the official results, which I’ve been holding from you for too long — my apologies!
I had the completely impossible task of picking the #1 winner who will receive full copies of all four Producer Loops drum & bass sample libraries that were used to create the contest sample pack: Drum & Bass Tip Trixxx Vol 1 & 2, and Liquid Drum & Bass Vol 1 & 2.
After much consideration I chose: David F (aka Totolitoto)
Congrats! You each win a sample library of your choice from one of the titles mentioned earlier.
Leaves me to thank you all once again for being part of the contest, I hope you had a good time and I’m looking forward to seeing you again at the next contest. Make sure to sign up for the newsletter to stay informed.
Also, big thumbs up for Jan and Paul at Producer Loops, who have generously provided the sample pack and prizes for this contest.
Image-Line has released version 2.2.1 of Edison, an audio editor for Windows.
Edison, the wave recorder/editor, will change forever the way you think about working with audio. It’s a fully host-integrated audio editing and recording tool that loads into any VST compatible effects location and will then record or play audio from that position.
Changes in Edison v2.2.1
Added MP3 export.
Holding Shift while dropping files appends audio to the existing data (Ctrl still replaces regions).
Original sample filename now stored in states/projects (to remember the last file loaded).
Added “send to playlist as audio clip” shortcut button.
Fixed crash in Edison’s scratching tool.
Fixed bug closing multiple instances.
Edison is available as a VST plug-in for Windows PC (and native in FL Studio 9.1), priced at $99 USD. New Image-Line customers can get 10% discount on Edison.

I am delighted to announce a new rekkerd.org contest. This time around it’s all about Drum & Bass, probably my all time favorite music genre.
After discovering this type of music in the early 90′s it has been the one genre that has consistently kept my interest over the years. Paradox, Roni Size, Dom & Roland, Ed Rush, Technical Itch, Source Direct, Photek, Dillinja, Omni Trio, Breakage, Total Science… just to name a few of my favorites.
For this contest Producer Loops has compiled an exclusive sample pack featuring selected sounds from its Drum & Bass Tip Trixxx Vol 1 & 2, and Liquid Drum & Bass Vol 1 & 2 sample libraries.
Download the contest sample pack and create a track using one or more of the 50 loops and single shot sounds provided, and submit it before the deadline; 9 July, 2010, 11.59pm CET.
Out of all the entries I will personally select the first prize winner who will receive all four Producer Loops sample libraries from the sample pack. Contestants will vote for 2nd and 3rd prize winners, who will each receive their choice of one of these drum & bass sample packs.
Download the “Producer Loops/Rekkerd DNB Competition Pack” and create a song using one or more (but at least one) of the samples from the pack. Maximum song duration is 7 minutes, one entry per contestant allowed.
You may process/manipulate the sample(s) from the sample pack in any way you like, be creative.
Additional sound sources (e.g. samples, virtual instruments) are allowed as long as they do not violate any laws or third party rights.
Submit your entry before 9 July, 2010, 11.59pm CET:
upload it to your SoundCloud and send me the link, or
email it as an mp3 (minimal 192kbps quality) to firstname.lastname@example.org Please include your artist name, song title and any additional information you would like to share.
By submitting your contest entry you allow rekkerd.org to publish it on SoundCloud (“All Rights Reserved” license).
In order to be eligible to win, contestants need to vote for their top 3 within a week after the contest deadline.
Prizes will be granted at the discretion of rekkerd.org (First place winner will be picked by rekkerd.org, second and third place will be decided by popular vote).
The terms of this contest are subject to change and may be amended without prior notice.
Note: also make sure to read the Producer Loops License Agreement regarding the use of the samples as provided for this contest (also included in the sample pack download).
The contest entries will be posted here as they come in. Voting will commence on July, 10, 2010. I will send all contestants a reminder to vote when it’s time.

A collection of 40 original samples created by DJ Colletta in his hilarious white-bread announcer voice, intended for use with mixing and scratching. Also includes some classics such as “fresh” recorded in DJ Colletta’s voice. All samples in the ZIP file are encoded in MP3 format in high quality 320kb bitrate.
Includes two versions, a “Vinyl” version which emulates the sound of an old record and a “Clean” version.
Note: These are 100% original samples, recordings of Richard Colletta’s voice.
Scratch Samples Volume One is available as a free download under the Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution Unported license.
Before I announce the winners, I would like to quote Dion (NO-ID), who wrote in the comments:
Funny, there can be a last place … not a bad last place, just different. There so much talent here, that it was really an honor to be in it
I too think you all truly did a great job, and it has been a joy to me to listen to each and every one of your songs. Unfortunately we can only have a few winners (of prizes anyway), so here are the top three voted entries:
With difference of only 2 points it was a pretty close call between Jackie and 3ee, and Jonas the plugexpert came in just one point behind Rachmiel’s third place win.
Jackie will receive the wonderful SilverLine Collection bundle of effect plug-ins by D16 Group. For second and third place winners 3ee and Rachmiel I have a sample library by Big Fish Audio. I will contact you with the details shortly.
Congratulations to the winners, and well done everyone! I hope to see you again for the next contest. Don’t forget to subscribe to the newsletter if you don’t want to miss it.
Time+Space has announced a giveaway promotion for Toontrack’s upcoming Beatstation.
Announced last month and summarised by the developers as a ´Tonal and Percussive, Open Surface, New Generation Virtual Instrument´, Beatstation is Toontrack’s first foray into tonal sampling and gives you a complete workstation for creating and editing not just drums, but any kind of instrument.
Beatstation allows you to drag and drop your own Wav, Rex, MP3 and Toontrack library sounds on to the virtual drum pads from the Beatstation browser or from your computer hard drive, mixing and matching any sounds available to build brand new personalised sound sets. The program also has a built-in ’sampler recorder’ which patches any sound, via a microphone or line feed, into the software for even more layering possibilities.
More details about the product, which is due for release in May, are being unveiled each week through video presentations that explore the numerous and surprising features of Beatstation.
Make sure you’re kept in the loop with the latest news and videos as and when they are announced by signing up via Time+Space’s Beatstation page and you could be one of five lucky winners to receive a copy of the product when it’s released!
