EastWest releases Hollywood Orchestral Percussion

EastWest has launched Hollywood Orchestral Percussion, a percussion instrument library produced by a team comprised of Doug Rogers, Nick Phoenix, Thomas Bergersen, and engineer Shawn Murphy.

EastWest / Quatum Leap Hollywood Orchestral Percussion

Hollywood Orchestral Percussion is a unique orchestral percussion library featuring one of America’s best orchestral percussionists and his arsenal of instruments. A composition tool for serious composers, Hollywood Orchestral Percussion includes PLAY 4 software, offering powerful scripting for ease of use and up to 5 microphone positions for control over each instrument including main pickup (Decca tree), mid pickup, close pickup, surround pickup, and an alternate vintage circa 1945 RCA ribbon room pickup.

Recorded in the famous EastWest Studio 1, the home of major Hollywood soundtracks and television themes, Hollywood Orchestral Percussion perfects techniques pioneered in Stormdrum 3, using unique repetition sampling techniques and 8 way round robin that deliver a virtual live performance. The entire collection uses zero noise reduction resulting in “a sound that will virtually jump out of the speakers”.

Hollywood Orchestral Percussion features

  • Orchestral percussion staples include timpani, snare drums, cymbals, bass drums, and metals.
  • Specific instruments to handle extreme tempos.
  • Extensive and fluid timpani.
  • An extensive array of epic anvil samples.
  • Orchestral chimes are sampled to mimic the sound of real church bells, as the instrument was originally intended.
  • Array of vintage field drums, such as Epic Bass Drum Ensemble and Mahler Hammer.
  • The celeste has been captured in a multi mic position environment with extremely low noise.

The library is available in a Diamond Edition for $799 USD (supplied on an optional hard drive), the Gold Edition is $499 USD, and the Silver Edition costs $249 USD.

Diamond and Gold Editions are available now. The Silver Edition will be available later in October.

EastWest intros Silver Editions of Hollywood Strings & Hollywood Brass

EastWest

EastWest has announced the release of Silver Editions of its Hollywood Strings and Hollywood Brass virtual instruments for Windows and Mac.

The price for these editions is $199 each, which is an incredible bargain given the critical acclaim this series has received, and the fact the Gold and Diamond versions are in wide use by top composers. The Silver editions allow students and those who are on a tight budget or use average computers to work with sound quality and detail only known from movies and professional recordings.

Hollywood Strings is the most detailed string orchestra library available today. Recorded with a live orchestra at the famous EASTWEST STUDIO 1, the same studio where many Hollywood soundtracks and television themes were produced, Hollywood Strings offers unprecedented control over sound and performance. This collection of virtual sounds made by co-producers Doug Rogers, Nick Phoenix, Thomas Bergersen and Emmy Award winning sound engineer Shawn Murphy is a must have compositional tool for serious composers.

Hollywood Brass, also recorded at EASTWEST STUDIO 1 and the second installment in the Hollywood series, is the most powerful, realistic and extensive brass library ever created. Revolutionary fanfare patches are light on computer resources, but offer the most playable and instantly gratifying results on just one midi channel. Especially noteworthy are the articulations which really show how far EASTWEST went to create the ultimate orchestral brass library. Just like the Gold and Diamond editions, Hollywood Brass Silver contains pure Hollywood magic.

The Silver editions allow all musicians to experience superb samples and work on the same level as top professionals. They are a great opportunity to get one’s feet wet before moving on to the larger Gold and Diamond editions to which customers can easily upgrade for the difference in cost and a small upgrade fee of $50 (€40).

  • Diamond editions include all 5 mic positions, includes bow change legato and divisi exclusively and 24-bit samples
  • Gold editions include 1 mic position, all other instruments and articulations except these detailed above and 16-bit samples
  • Silver editions include 1 mic position, with limited instruments and articulations and 16-bit samples

Eastwest offers 50% off Symphonic Orchestra and Pianos

Eastwest has announced it is offering 50% off the retail prices of two critically-acclaimed titles: Eastwest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra and Pianos on all purchases made through March 31, 2012.

Eastwest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra

Recorded by 11-time Grammy nominated classical recording engineer Prof. Keith O. Johnson, and produced by Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, the EASTWEST/QUANTUM LEAP SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA is the most awarded orchestral collection ever, and the only orchestral collection to be recorded in a “state of the art” concert hall where orchestras mainly perform.

Eastwest/Quantum Leap Pianos

EASTWEST/QUANTUM LEAP PIANOS is the most detailed collection of the world’s finest grand pianos ever recorded and includes a Bechstein D-280, Steinway D, Bösendorfer 290, and Yamaha C7, each recorded with 3 mixable mic positions.

“These are real acoustic piano sounds. I’m absolutely amazed. EastWest/Quantum Leap has gone the extra mile to provide stunning quality acoustic piano character – the whole collection is superb!” said 12-time Grammy winning pianist and composer Herbie Hancock. “The new meaning of heavyweight. Players agreed that EastWest/Quantum Leap has by far the most detailed and biggest-sounding pianos of the bunch.” Said KEYBOARD Magazine.

The PLAY interface includes impulses from the same hall the producers used to record Symphonic Orchestra and Symphonic Choirs so the pianos can blend with those collections.

Customers can receive 50% off the retail price at Sounds Online and at authorized EastWest dealers now through March 31, 2012.
