Noisebud has announced Burt, a free synthesizer instrument plug-in for Windows.
Burt is our first attempt to make a VSTi. We needed a bass synth that delivered more grit and dirt and didn’t need hours of twiddling before getting there.
We based the sound engine on waveshaping through distortion, bit crush and resonance since our VST fx chains on bass channels almost always contain that sort of plugins. The result is a angry old fart that we named Burt. He can get so angry that his audio buffers overflows and get silent, you have to restart your DAW to cool him down but don’t worry, Burt will start screaming again.
Burt will be available as a freeware VST instrument for Windows on November 1st 2011. It is already available as a freebie included with Noisebud’s latest album as well.

Noisebud has released version 2.0 of CatchDad, a free instrument plugin created for live situations.
With CatchDad you can catch 4 different sounds with just the click of a button and instantly start to program rhythms with the built in step sequensers. The plugin is capable of building advanced rhythmic patterns with the different sequencer speed settings.
New in CatchDad v2.0
- Auto record. You can now set CatchDad to record automatically in i.e. the beginning of every bar, or end… or middle…
- The pitch is now adjustable between 12 tone equal temperament and free.
- 128 User presets added that are accessible through MIDI program change. If you change a user preset and store your song/project, your host should store all 128 presets with you project. So there is no store button.
- The interface takes less space so it fits on lo-res laptop screens.
CatchDad for Windows (VST) is available to download as freeware.

Noisebud has released CatchDad, a free instrument plugin for Windows.
CatchDad is the second Noisebud plugin created strictly for live situations, the first being StepDad where you can add a step sequenced ADSR filter/amplitude curve to any sound going through the plugin.
With CatchDad you can catch 4 different sounds with just the click of a button and instantly start to program rhythms with the built in step sequensers. The plugin is capable of building advanced rhythmic patterns with the different settings and we’re working on a manual so that you’ll be able to use it to it’s full potential, but until we’re done with the documentation you’re on your own. It’s basic functionality is pretty straightforward, you’ll be droppin’ beats within 20 minutes. Just send any sound, live or prerecorded through the plugin, press Record and you’re on your way!
CatchDad for Windows (VST) is available to download as freeware.

Noisebud has released version 2.01 of Noisebud Bompa, a free effect plug-in for adding bottom and dirt on drum loops.
Bompa wasn’t really meant for the public but we started to give it away to friends and they liked it and shared it with their friends and in a couple of weeks we started to get requests from totally strangers.
We reached version 2.0 and even if we haven’t changed that much process wise it’s a totally different plugin than the crappy looking first version.
Changes in Bompa v2.01
- Changed the way knobs react to movement, they only react on vertical movement from now on (easier).
- Added Phase shift to the Boom and Gritty engine.
- Added metering for the processed sound (called pressure in the plug).
- Fixed limiter bug.
- Reworked all graphics from scratch.
The Noisebud Filter effect plug-in has also been updated.
Changes in Noisebud Filter v3.11
- Changed the way you turn the knobs, now they only react to vertical movement which should be easier.
- Fixed limiter bug.
- Changed to the new logo.
Noisebud Bompa and Filter are available to download as freeware VST effect plug-ins for Windows PC. Donations are welcome.

Noisebud has released version 3.0 of Noisebud Filter, a freeware filter effect plug-in for Windows.
Noisebud filter consists of 4 filters (or 16, depends on how you look upon it), they are switchable between Lo pass, hi pass, band pass and band reject filter. The signals from the four filters are wired in a parallel chain. Every filter can be controlled by three different LFO’s where one is tempo synced; one normal and one extremely slow (a sLoFO). The LFO sections also have something we call VariFO. It adds another movement to the LFO and makes it less predictable. Every filter has an invert button so that you can silence frequencies that collide during heavy LFO movements, this and the VariFO is probably what make Noisebud filter in somewhat special.
Changes in Noisebud Filter v3.0
- You can now set the type of filter you like, you can have 4 LoPass filters if you like. You can even let one filter be both LoPass and a BandPass at the same time.
- The first LFO is now tempo synced to the host.
Noisebud Filter is available to download as a freeware VST effect plug-in for Windows PC. Donations are appreciated.

Noisebud has released version 2.5 of Noisebud Filter, a freeware filter effect plug-in for Windows.
Noisebud Filter consists of 4 filter wired in parallel and every filter has a phase invert button. The idea is to let for example the lo-pass and hi-pass filter sweep over each others frequencies and let the Phase silence those freq that is overlapping.
Changes in Noisebud Filter v2.5
- Added a VariFO to each LFO. Same as Noisebud Bandpass.
- Added a Dry Amount if you want to have a bit of the original sound.
Noisebud Filter is available as a VST effect plug-in for Windows PC.
