Nucleus SoundLab releases Reason Wizardry Season Two – Advanced Reason Tutorials

Nucleus SoundLab Reason Wizardry Season Two

Nucleus SoundLab has announced the release of Reason Wizardry Season Two, a compilation of Reason Wizardry video tutorials.

Through Reason Wizardry Season Two, you will continue to benefit from the vast sound design experience of Nucleus SoundLab Lead Designer Jeremy Janzen. Since 2005, Jeremy has pushed the boundaries of sound design in Reason – first by implementing 100% unique Combinators in a Refill; followed by the first commercial effects Refill; and finally by introducing detailed and educational PDF documentation for each patch. In keeping with this history of innovative sound design and sharing knowledge, Reason Wizardry Season Two goes even farther to walk you through Reason’s inner depths.

Reason Wizardry Season Two isn’t meant to rehash the basics. It won’t show you how to create a pattern in Redrum or how to load a sample in NN-19. Instead, by assuming each user had already read the manual and has a basic knowledge – Reason Wizardry skips directly to the good stuff. Each issue is packed with info on how to get the very most out of Reason devices, how to create your own sounds that step away from the cliches, and the not-so-obvious tricks that will save you time in your productions.

Reason Wizardry Season Two features

  • 10 full-length video tutorials.
  • Consists of nearly 7.5 hours of video and weighs in at 3.6gb.
  • Captured at crisp 800×600 resolution (some issues are 1280×720 HD).
  • Includes 68 example patches.
  • All the Main Topics from each included issue are listed below:
    • Wavesequencing in Reason
    • Envelope Followers
    • Hybrid Modular Synths in Reason
    • Advanced Thor Step Sequencer Usage
    • Reason 5 New Device Tips (Kong, Combinator CV Inputs, Sampling and more)
    • Sampling VST Instruments into Reason
    • MultiLoop Technology (as seen in NanoSequences)
    • Ear Training – for Sound Design
    • Malstrom In-Depth
    • Reason CPU Testing

Reason Wizardry Season Two is available to purchase for $29 USD.

Nucleus SoundLab Filter Research 3 ReFill – complex effects for Reason 6 released

Nucleus SoundLab has announced Filter Research 3 ReFill, a collection of effect Combinators for Reason 6 by Propellerhead Software.

Propellerhead Reason 6 has finally brought together audio inputs, live sampling, and loop playback together in a single product. With all this new audio content flying through the Reason ecosystem, now is the perfect time to introduce Filter Research 3 – Nucleus SoundLab’s third product in their innovative series of effects ReFills. This package of evolved effects once again goes beyond the ordinary. Filter Research 3 is packed full of effects that are not only useful production tools, but are often musically inspirational as well.

Nucleus SoundLab Filter Research 3 ReFill

The first two Filter Research ReFills created the market for creative effect devices in Reason – but both have now been easily surpassed by Filter Research 3. This new ReFill has been built from the ground up for Propellerhead Reason 6, with every single Combinator using at least one Reason 6 effect device – which are of course Pulveriser, The Echo and Alligator. Also new to Filter Research 3, all patches now feature unique modulation mapping for the Pitch-Bend Wheel. That is of course in addition to unique mappings for all four Combinator Rotaries, Buttons and the Modwheel as usual.

Filter Research 3′s standard Combinators are a stunning selection that run the sonic gamut from MIDI-triggered delays, psychotic beat repeaters, guitar amp multi-FX, tuned resonantors, as well as subtle production-ready EQ and Saturation patches. But the centerpiece of this aural experience is once again the Epic Combinators. These six patches by Jeremy Janzen are truly Reason sound design at its finest – . Each Epic Combinator is outfitted with up to 24 macro rotaries in order to give the best possible control experience, while maintaining an elegant simplicity that anyone can take advantage of. If that still sounds intimidating, over sixty minutes of video documentation is included describing how to get the most out of all six patches.

Filter Research 3 ReFill features

  • 200 effect Combinators included.
  • 6 Epic Combinators – including 60+ minutes of HD video documentation.
  • Each patch uses a at least one new Reason 6 effect device – Pulveriser, The Echo and Alligator.
  • Each Combinator has all 4 rotaries/buttons uniquely assigned – as well as the Pitch-Bend/Modwheel.
  • All Combinators created from scratch.
  • 130+ page PDF manual describing each Combinator in-depth.
  • Requires Reason 6+.

The ReFill is available to purchase for $49 USD.

Nucleus SoundLab releases Celluloid Beats Reason ReFill

Nucleus SoundLab has announced the release of Celluloid Beats, a brand-new ReFill exclusively built for Propellerhead Reason 6.

Nucleus SoundLab Celluloid Beats

Celluloid Beats features an amazingly unique set of cinematic percussion loops suitable for filmscoring, game sound design, IDM and other electronic genres. The loops inside have been specially processed using a proprietary additive vocoding techique to emphasize long, smooth decay stages. Beyond the high-quality loops themselves, Celluloid Beats is also the first ReFill in an innovative new series called Modular Grooves.

Modular Grooves ReFills are meant to provide musicians and producers with a infinitely configurable palette of loops. These loops sound great at virtually any tempo thanks to being sampled using Wide BPM technology – anywhere from 60bpm to 300bpm is fair game. There is no reason to be limited by the original tempo of a loop any more!

Each Combinator patch in a Celluloid Beats contains 8 loops – 1 original loop and 7 creative loop remixes. This is achieved by using the Slice Edit Mode on Dr. OctoRex to change filtering, decay, volume and more on a per-step basis for each loop. Going farther than that, unique FX are added to each patch which are used to effect specific loop slices – so each slice in a loop can have a different distortion, filtering or delay! The resulting loop remixes sound incredibly complex, but they certainly aren’t complicated to use. A single Combinator Rotary switches between all 8 loops; and you can also easily dive into Dr. OctoRex to tweak any loop remix to taste! To help users understand the Modular Grooves technology and get the very most out of it, PDF documentation is included.

Celluloid Beats also comes packed with all its loops in raw REX2 format outside the ReFill itself at no additional charge. So users can easily load these loops into other sampler, such as Kontakt, Ableton Live, Battery and more without any hassles.

Celluloid Beats features

  • 40 24-bit 44khz REX2 loops form the base of Celluloid Beats.
  • 280 loop remixes using all 8 loop slots on Dr. OctoRex.
  • Each patch built exclusively for Reason 6.
  • All REX2 loops included outside the ReFill, for use in other samplers.
  • Detailed PDF documentation on the creation and operation of the ReFill.

Celluloid Beats is is available to purchase for $29 USD.

Nucleus SoundLab releases Open Source Drumkit Reason ReFill

Nucleus SoundLab has announced the release of the Open Source Drumkit, a truly public domain drum sample library created by Real Music Media.

Nucleus SoundLab Open Source Drumkit

The kit contains a kick, snare, hihat, ride, crash, 3 toms and a gong. Nucleus SoundLab has brought this kit to the Propellerhead Reason 5 ReFill format, of course as a 100% free product.

The Open Source Drumkit is heavily velocity-layered, with upwards of 20 layers on many of the kit elements. Of course, we’ve mapped these kits in Kong, for ease of use and great sound quality. Additionally, the OSDK has been sampled with a dry, unprocessed feel which is great for using Reason’s excellent effects to produce your own unique kit. We’ve also got some patches to get you started with unique kits, since the OSDK ReFill includes some incredible customized Combinator kits by Lewis Osborne. Additionally, there is a template kit with all the samples mapped – meant as a great starting point for your own patches.

Open Source Drumkit ReFill features

  • 300+mb of raw 24-bit 44khz drum samples (compressed to ~150mb inside the ReFill).
  • 755 wav files.
  • 22 Custom Combinators by Lewis Osborne.

Note: This ReFill requires Reason 5+ in order to use the Combinator patches. Older versions of Reason can still load up the samples in NN-XT/19/Redrum.

The Open Source Drumkit is available to download at no cost by signing up for the Nucleus SoundLab newsletter.
