Optostudio WFSp

Optostudio has released WFSp, a WAV File Stripper which removes loop and cue data from wav files.

Its mostly for use with wav files that been rendered from audio hosts and editors that automatically embed loop points, cue and other data into the file.

Depending on the target software/hardware, this can make the file playback abnormally often locking the timeline to the loop point. In some cases editing and deleting the data then re-saving the file does not get rid of this non audio data. When the file is re-opened, all the non audio data is still there.

The only option would be to re-record the audio file and then save it. That only works if you have the right 3rd party solution (hardware/software loopback drivers).

WFSp gives the wav file new life by removing the constraining data so it can be used by any host, hardware, soft/hard sampler, internal/external player, media device etc.

WFSp is available as a free download for Windows PC. A no nags version is available as donationware. 25% of donations go to Haiti Relief.

Optomadic Midi File Stripper (MFS)

Optomadic has released Midi File Stripper (MFS), a free tool for quickly and effortlessly removing all non MIDI note data.

Its pretty self explanatory. You have MIDI files with a bunch of CC, Tempo, NRPN and other junk data. These files may cause issues if you drag them into hosts or export them to hardware. So, you use MFS to filter out the files. Now you have pure MIDI note files that will play pefectly in any host and hardware.

Midi File Stripper (MFS) features

  • MFSc installs onto your computer and uses a ‘right click file’ context menu command. It only can process 1 file at a time.
  • MFSp is a portable version that runs from removable media such as USB thumb drives, shared network folders optical media. It also supports multiple files dragged to the GUI or to the executable.

MFS is available to download as freeware for Windows PC.
