Hello Samples releases Raw Series Vol 2: JMX09

Hello Samples JMX09

Hello Samples has launched JMX09, the second release in the Raw Series of sample packs.

After the warm reception of our first installment in the analog percussion world (the acclaimed RAW Series Vol.1) we decided to make a library built on the same honorable principles -realism, dynamics and usability- but with a more aggressive and punchy sound that complemented the organic, creamy and percussive nature of the previous collection. Of all the drum machines in our arsenal we felt that the 09 was the box that best represented this idea, and thus our next victim was chosen!

The 09 is a 909 inspired drum machine with a twist. The great thing about it it’s that, although you can use it to emulate a convincing 909, it can also go WAY beyond it’s limits. The bass drum and snare circuits have much wider range and the sound is a bit more modern and over-the-top. It’s like a 909 on steroids! This is specially nice since you can end up with something that sounds “familiar” yet not dated like the overused original 909. A clever way of sounding different.

JMX09 features

  • 2,300+ painstakingly handcut samples (about 200 different sounds x 7 round robin hits + more than 300 single one-shots), organized by type and descriptively labelled.
  • A minimum of 4 Round Robin samples of each sound for added realism, most hits have 7 or more Round Robin samples.
  • 40 ready to use Machine kits.
  • 20 ready to use MPC kits (1000/2500).
  • 298 ready to use Ableton Live kits including:
    • 23 Drum Rack Kits.
    • 18 Impulse Kits.
    • 250 individual Sampler patches (Round Robin).
    • 7 groups Sampler patches.
  • 6 Kontakt patches including automatic Round Robin management.

The sample library is available to purchase for 10 EUR. A free demo pack can be downloaded from the product page.

Spitfire releases Ricotti Glockenspiel & Crotales for Kontakt

Frank Ricotti Glockenspiel

Spitfire Audio has announced the release of Frank Ricotti Glockenspiel and Frank Ricotti Crotales, two virtual instrument libraries for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Engineered by Toby Warren at Air-Edel Studios, a classic and infamous studio in central London used by an extraordinary mix of people from Nick Cave (Proposition) to Beyonce, to Tinie Tempah. Spitfire has recorded a pristinely maintained Glockenspiel deeply with a number of beaters, techniques and from a number of perspectives. With the recent folk renaissance, the glock has become one of the most popular tuned percussion instruments of recent times. These little beauties are not easy to record well, nor make truly convincing. Spitfire has a decade of experience making the best, most realistic virtual instruments on the market today. By engineering chaos into the selection of sounds and by using the finest ribbon and valve mics with incredible signal paths Spitfire has created the definitive article, so if your favoured Glock is sounding a little worn Spitfire is always a good bet!

Frank Ricotti Crotales

Crotales are small bronze disks, almost thick cymbals arranged in a piano keyboard style layout to produce chromatic pitches. They are one of the brightest tuned percussion instruments and similar to a piccolo, will cut through even the biggest orchestral dirges. With the producer range however we like to introduce music makers of all persuasions to try instruments they may never have heard of. So alongside the bright and brash elements of this library you can also find moments of magical beauty. A great instrument that can create the feeling of a bright celeste coupled with a triangle but with none of the pre-conceived ideas of either of those instruments, ie Celeste = Harry Potter.

Again engineered by Toby Warren at Air-Edel Studios, a classic and pristinely maintained vintage studio in London’s west-end, Spitfire has recorded a pristinely maintained set of world-class Crotales sampled deeply with a number of beaters, techniques (including a bowed patch which is going to get tongues wagging!) and from a number of perspectives.

For the first two weeks, the Ricotti Glockenspiel and Crotales libraries are available to purchase for the introductory prices of £39 GBP and £31 GBP, repectively (regular £52 GBP and £42 GBP).
Both libraries require a full version of Kontakt 4.2.4 or higher.

Taleweaver Orchestra releases Ancient Heavy Boxes for Kontakt

Ancient Heavy Boxes

Taleweaver Orchestra has announced Ancient Heavy Boxes, a cinematic percussion library for Native Instruments Kontakt 5.

What is so special about this library? Ten cardboard-boxes have been recorded in different positions and styles. We used sticks, brushes and hammers. We hit, scratched and smashed them. And after recording over 5.000 samples we chose 2.500 to be the best so we can come up with 15 unique patches:

  • Bass Drum 1 & 2
  • Brushed Boxes 1 – 6
  • Paper Djembe
  • Taikos 1 – 3
  • Tom Drums 1 – 3

Boxes? Made of paper? Hit with drumsticks?!

Yeah, we know how crazy that sounds. But recorded in the right way they really sound fantastic! We found out that paperboxes have a special unique sound that can give some very interesting edge to a track.

The sample library is available to purchase for the introductory price of 28.80 EUR until February 28th, 2014 (regular 42 EUR).
