UGO releases M-theory and Disturbance and updates Metallurgy and Ironhead/Tunguska to v1.5/v1.1

UGO has released two new VST plug-ins: M-theory, a hybrid modeling synth, and Disturbance, a loop & sample glitch/mangle/slicer tool.

M-theory

UGO M-theory

M-theory (the successor to String Theory) is a hybrid synth that is built around the Karplus-Strong delay based physical modeling technique, and uses samples, VA oscillators, and noise to drive the delay based oscillator; resulting in a very wide range of high quality synthetic and hybrid acoustic modeled sounds.

M-theory key features

  • Karplus-Strong style synthesis engine.
  • Dual exciters, each with the option of samples, VA or noise sources.
  • Option to load your own samples.
  • Independent low, band, high, and all pass filters.
  • Dual programmable arpeggiators and an extra MIDI note trigger/doubler feature.
  • Built in tremolo, metal effect, chorus, delay, and reverb.
  • 320 presets.

M-theory is available for Windows PC for $35 USD.

Disturbance

UGO Disturbance

Disturbance is primarily intended for the glitching/mangling of drum loops but it can also be useful with melodic material, vocals, and pretty much anything else you want to get glitchy with.

Disturbance is similar to a slicer, but a bit different. It works by chopping up a loop into 64 equal parts (no beat detection), then sequencing their playback, and each slice in Disturbance has its own loop point.

Disturbance features

  • Sequencer related features
    • Slice length reduction.
    • Filter cutoff (low or high pass filtering).
    • Pitch shifting.
    • Dirt (distortion + downsampling + filtering).
    • Slice reverse.
    • Random slice.
    • 4 sequencer direction options.
    • Mod wheel control over playback.
    • Sequencer jitter effect.
    • Host BPM sync or internal clock.
    • Sequencer start/end point adjustment.
  • Additional features
    • Built in file browser.
    • Dual Delay.
    • Velocity sensitivity.
    • Pitch Shifter with the option of fixed (non-sequenced) setttings, MIDI note tracking, and portamento.
    • 64 example/tutorial presets to get you started.

Disturbance is available for Windows PC for $35 USD.

Metallurgy

UGO Metallurgy

Metallurgy is a multi effect that is capable of providing sounds ranging from some basic, subtle, filter tweaks to twisted, complex, walls of sound that bear virtually no resemblance to the original audio.

Changes in v1.5

  • MIDI input to metal pitch – this controls both pitch and gate, allowing you to use your keyboard to play metallurgy like a monosynth.
  • Greatly improve sequencer timing/resets.
  • New envelope follower destinations: volume, master mix.
  • Pan sequencing – this has been merged with the gate sequencer… each step has its own pan control and the user has the option of either just the gate, just the pan, or both.
  • Pan control for each filter + independent modulation.
  • Sample and hold for all LFOs.
  • Improved/fixed the LFO waveform lengths.
  • Two slower settings for all sequencers: 4 and 8 bar.
  • GUI is brighter, sharper, and higher contrast (compared to the original).
  • Added master sequencer reset button.
  • A whole bunch of new presets.

Metallurgy is available for Windows PC for $20 USD.

Ironhead & Tunguska

UGO Ironhead & Tunguska

Ironhead is a morphing synthetic junk percussion kit, which is accompanied by Tunguska, a multi effect VST plug-in.

Changes in Ironhead v1.5 / Tunguska v1.1

  • Ironhead:
    • Greatly improved sound and flexibility.
    • New master pitch control for each instrument.
    • Noise control for the Bonks.
    • Drum trigger buttons.
    • Improved kit randomizer.
    • Interface enhancements.
    • All new presets.
  • Tunguska
    • New presets by Perimeter Sound Arts, Elvar Aron, and Ugo.
    • Minor bug fixes.
    • Minor GUI enhancements.

Ironhead & Tunguska are available for Windows PC for $35 USD.

Visit UGO for more information and links to download demo versions of these new and updated plug-ins.
