Toontrack’s annual Metal Month to kick off in November

Toontrack has announced that its annual Metal Month will be launched again this November.

It will include eight new metal related product releases and kick off on November 1 with an all-new campaign site as well as an exclusive online stream of a Soilwork show.

Toontrack Metal Month Soilwork
The show is co-presented by the local music store Musikanten and will stream live on Toontrack’s Metal Month site, directly from a venue near the Toontrack corporate offices in Umeå, Sweden.

“To kick off one of the most exciting months of the year with an exclusive live stream from a band with close ties to our brand is amazing. It’s not only a celebration of all the hard work leading up to eight new product titles, it’s our way of inviting Toontrack users from around the world to join in online for a great start to a jam-packed month”, commented Peter Knutsson, Toontrack’s CEO.

“All of us in Soilwork are very proud to inaugurate this year’s Metal Month. I’ve been a proud user and supporter of Toontrack for many years now. Their amazing software has completely revolutionized the way I create and record music, and this goes for the band as well. EZdrummer, Superior Drummer and the like have become household names for metal musicians and producers worldwide, and we’re very proud to fly the Toontrack flag”, said Dirk Verbeuren, Soilwork’s drummer.

None of the eight products slated for release in November have yet been officially announced. Each week of the month, one or more products will be revealed online.

“This is our fourth consecutive edition of Metal Month. Each year leading up to November, we work as hard as we possibly can to outdo ourselves. For this year’s selection of products, we have travelled from our native north of Sweden to the southern tip of the US, across the continent to Canada, via England, Norway, Stockholm and back to bring our users the most inspiring set of metal tools and sounds we could come up with”, commented Mattias Eklund, Toontrack’s head of Sound Design.

“This year we present new titles that span almost all our product lines. We’ll introduce collaborations with new producers as well as the return of a few of the most popular engineers behind earlier products. There will be new drum sounds, guitar tones and mix tools that I am confident will cater to a broad segment in the metal music community”, said Peter Knutsson.

The Metal Month site will also host a jukebox based on selections of original music composed by the Toontrack user base.

“We always strive to highlight the talent of our customers. To put their efforts in a well-lit area of our market place is something we are very proud of. Making music is what our software tools are all about, and there are no better ambassadors for what we do than our own users. There is an incredible amount of undiscovered music out there”, said Peter Knutsson.

Toontrack is also presenting Periphery’s current North American tour and will be offering exclusive on the road reports in its social media channels, directly from the band. Finally, Metal Month will culminate in the announcing of the winner of the Metal Guitar God 2013 lead guitar contest, launched already earlier this month.

The Soilwork stream will go live on November 1 at approximately 23:00 CET at the Toontrack website. Tickets for the exclusive Soilwork show can be found here.

Toontrack launches Drum Riffs MIDI by Matt Halpern

Toontrack Drum Riffs MIDI

Toontrack has announced the Drum Riffs MIDI pack, a collection of drum parts played by Matt Halpern.

A lot of modern metal is based around bass drum patterns and synchronized guitar and drum work. This pack focuses on just that and will put you at the helm of a monster drumming vehicle spitting out ideas for riff after riff after riff!

All material was played by Matt Halpern. Being the drummer in Periphery, one of the hottest and brightest shining acts in today’s American metal scene, he has in just a few years gone from relatively unknown to being “the talk of drum town”, as Modern Drummer put it in the story on him that graced their July 2012 issue. The second you call up a groove and Halpern starts pounding away, you’ll be the first to attest to the fact that yes, he has indeed taken polyrhythmic and “Djent” drumming to a completely new level of sophistication.

Drum Riffs MIDI features

  • Organized in songs, each one with approximately 15 grooves and 15 fills.
  • More than 400 individually played files.
  • Works with EZdrummer, Superior Drummer (optimized for 1 kick, 1 snare, 2 toms, 1 floor-tom, 2 or 3 crash cymbals, 1 china and 1 ride cymbal).

The MIDI pack is available to purchase for 25 EUR / $29 USD.

Toontrack has announced the Metal Guitar Gods EZmix Pack, an expansion pack for EZmix 2, focusing solely on amp and cab simulation presets for guitar and bass.

It comes with everything from rhythm, lead and clean sounds to settings for acoustic guitar and bass. We call this colossus of a product Metal Guitar Gods simply because these four gentlemen are nothing short of gods. Fredrik for being the father of “Djent” and for forever having changed metal as we know it by introducing eight-string guitars. Devin for continuously pushing the boundaries and the perception of what “metal” is. IA for gathering inspiration from all corners of the world, channeling it through his guitar and ending up with highly personal and inspiring renditions of our time. “Bulb” for riffs that go far and beyond what anyone thought was possible within the confines of a metal track!

We couldn’t be prouder about the fact that their custom sounds and a little bit of their magic is bottled in this pack and available for you! So, plug your instrument straight into your sound card, launch EZmix 2, select your Metal Guitar Gods setting and start forging your next metal masterpiece. It’s really that simple!

The Metal Guitar Gods pack is available to purchase for 39 EUR / $49 USD.

Toontrack announces return of Metal Month

Toontrack

Toontrack has announced that its Metal Month will be returning this November, with seven new products and exclusive live shows by Meshuggah and Periphery.

The month is primarily geared towards customers into hard rock and metal. Earlier editions of the campaign have seen several critically acclaimed product releases and been met by massive support from the Toontrack user base.

- Our connection to metal can be traced all the way back to the start in 1999 when we released Drumkit From Hell. It was a huge hit that set a new benchmark for the drum sampling industry. To devote an entire month solely to metal is our way of honoring and highlighting the genre on which our company built its foundation, said Mattias Eklund, Toontrack’s co-founder and Head of Sound Design.

- Even if we today have a product catalogue and credibility that crosses over all genres, our brand is still very much associated to metal, continued Peter Knutsson, Toontrack’s CEO. Metal musicians are generally very well-aware and picky when it comes to sound and production, so having a strong following in this market segment is something we are proud of and want to keep nourishing.

The Metal Month campaign site is set for launch on November 1 and the first product release slated for November 6. Already on October 26, however, Toontrack will host a kick off party at the intimate live music venue Scharinska near the company’s headquarters in Umeå, Sweden. Swedish polyrhythmic and ”Djent” inventors Meshuggah will perform alongside American up and coming metal act Periphery, both of which are booked to perform one-off shows exclusively at this event.

- To have two of the most talked about names in today’s extreme metal scene share the stage at a small venue in the north of Sweden for two unique shows feels really special, said Peter Knutsson, Toontrack’s CEO. To add to it, the fact that our sounds can be heard on both bands’ albums and that our product catalogue feature individual members of each band just makes it even better.

None of the seven products slated for release during November are yet official. Each week of the month will reveal one or more new products.

- I can honestly say that this year we have a few of the most unique releases ever, said Mattias Eklund, Toontrack’s co-founder and Head of Sound Design. Without disclosing too much, there will be sounds designed by one of the world’s most sought-after mix engineers as well as without a doubt the most exciting mix tool of the year for metal guitar and bass.
