chipspeech

Plogue chipspeech

chipspeech is a vintage-style speech synthesizer which recreates the sound of famous 80′s voice synthesis chips. It features 7 different voices, each with its own characteristic timbre. It is specially tailored for musical needs – simply type in your lyrics, and then play on your MIDI keyboard. It’s a true synthesizer, the sound can be extensively modified for easy and expressive performances.

Changes in chipspeech v1.009

  • Tweaked Lady Parsec’s consonants.
  • Added ‘Attack’ parameter (CC30).
  • Added Mod Wheel (CC01) GUI control.

chipsounds

Plogue chipsounds

Plogue chipsounds authentically emulates 15 vintage 8-bit era sound chips (on top of their variants), down to their smallest idiosyncrasies.

Changes in chipsounds v1.809

  • Fixed parameter automation in a few hosts.
  • Added “save as default” in plugins.
  • Fixed ambience reverb memory use under 192kHz.

chipsounds is available for purchase for $95 USD.

chipcrusher

Plogue chipcrusher

chipcrusher is an vintage DAC emulator, a speaker simulator and noise machine. It’s an audio effect which plays back input audio through a simulation of early lofi digital audio codecs (DAC Encoding), adds grit (Background Noise), and outputs through a selection of speaker and filter impulse responses (Post-Processing).

Changes in chipcrusher v1.809

  • Fixed parameter automation in a few hosts.
  • Added “save as default” in plugins.

chipcrusher is available for purchase for $39 USD.

sforzando

Plogue sforzando

sforzando is a free, highly SFZ 2.0 compliant sample player. Advanced sample hobbyists now have a powerful tool to experiment and share instruments without relying on proprietary formats. sforzando has only one instrument slot; no fancy UI, effects or mixers. Every tweak has to be done at the SFZ file level, no cheating!

Changes in sforzando v1.809

  • Fixed parameter automation in a few hosts.

The updates are now available to download.

Karoryfer Samples releases Ironface synth library for Sforzando

Karoryfer Samples Ironface

Karoryfer Samples has announced the release of Ironface, a free open-source sample library for Plogue Sforzando which combines samples of a bowed double bass with synthesizer-style controls.

Instead of trying to accurately recreate the sound of a double bass, Ironface is instead designed to be an anachronistic combination of acoustic bowed sounds, large numbers of unison voices per note like one might find in a modern digital synth, and controls typical of simple analog synths.

It can produce warm and organic versions of many classic sounds, from resonant bass plucks to string machines.

Ironface features

  • Selectable number of unison voices – 1, 3, 5, 7 or 17.
  • Two selectable sets of samples.
  • Randomized sample playback start points and phase relationships between voices.
  • All samples looped for infinite sustain.
  • Detune and width controls.
  • Vibrato speed and depth.
  • AHDSR volume envelope.
  • Resonant low-pass filter.
  • Filter envelope with depth, attack and decay controls.
  • All controls accessible from the GUI and mapped to MIDI CC.
  • 20 presets including string sounds, basses, pads, plucks and an organ.
  • 22.9 MB download size.

The library is a free download. Note: Due to the controls and advanced SFZ opcodes used, this library will not work fully in any SFZ sampler other than Plogue Sforzando with the latest ARIA Engine update applied.

Plogue has announced the release of chipspeech, a vintage-styled speech synthesizer which recreates the sound of famous 80′s voice synthesis chips.

Plogue chipspeech

It is specially tailored for musical needs – simply type in your lyrics, and then play on your MIDI keyboard. It’s a true synthesizer, the sound can be extensively modified for easy and expressive performances.

chipspeech also features a circuit bending emulation, letting you not only recreate the insane and chaotic sound of a circuit bent TI speaking device, but also use it in a controlled, musical way.

chipspeech for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/AAX/Standalone) is available for purchase for the introductory price of $75 USD/63 EUR/£50 GBP for a limited time (regular $95 USD/80 EUR/£63 GBP).

Karoryfer Samples releases Cowsynth free sample library

Karoryfer Cowsynth

Karoryfer Samples has released Cowsynth, a sample library featuring medieval bagpipes mapped both as bagpipes and as a synthesizer.

For thousands of years, bagpipes have been the sonic terrorist’s weapon of choice. Cowsynth brings that terror to the 21st century by taking samples of bagpipes and treating them as oscillators in a simple synthesizer. Though designed with obnoxious big room plucks in mind, it turned out to be a lot more than that.

Bagpipes with their strong upper partials make a very nice organic substitute for a saw wave oscillator, and with eight-voice unison they make great pads, strings and organs. And obnoxious bagplucks, too. The pipes themselves were built based on a medieval drawing (so they’re not very Scottish), and the bag is cowskin – that’s why we gave it the Cowsynth name.

Cowsynth features

  • One traditional and one chromatic bagpipes mapping.
  • Bagpipes mappings include separate voices for drone and melody, trills and keyswitchable chirps.
  • Five different synthesizer-style mappings with different unison and detune algorithm.
  • Synthesizer mappings include AHDSR envelope, vibrato and resonant low-pass filter controls.
  • All synthesizer mappings include pad, pluck and organ versions.
  • WAV samples and SFZ mappings.
  • 13 MB download size.

The library is available to download at no charge. Requires Plogue Sforzando.

Plogue releases Chipcrusher bitcrusher, speaker simulator & noise machine

Plogue has announced the release of Chipcrusher, an advanced bitcrusher, a speaker simulator and noise machine effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

Plogue Chipcrusher
Chipcrusher features DAC Encoding, Background Noise and Post-Processing.

It’s an audio effect which plays back input audio through a simulation of early lofi digital audio codecs (DAC Encoding), adds grit (Background Noise), and outputs through a selection of speaker and filter impulse responses (Post-Processing).

It can work as a VST/AU/RTAS plug-in for most major sequencing audio programs and supported tracker programs on Windows and OS X.

There is a wide spectrum of results achievable with chipcrusher. Here’s a few use cases:

  • Uniquely destroy/mangle a beat, a guitar or any other audio track.
  • Play single hits and emulate the sound of old samplers.
  • Add ‘accurate dirt’ to chipsounds’s output.
  • Etc.

Chipcrusher for Windows and Mac is available to purchase for $39 ex. VAT.
