Plogue has announced the release of chipspeech, a vintage-styled speech synthesizer which recreates the sound of famous 80′s voice synthesis chips.
It is specially tailored for musical needs – simply type in your lyrics, and then play on your MIDI keyboard. It’s a true synthesizer, the sound can be extensively modified for easy and expressive performances.
chipspeech also features a circuit bending emulation, letting you not only recreate the insane and chaotic sound of a circuit bent TI speaking device, but also use it in a controlled, musical way.
chipspeech for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/AAX/Standalone) is available for purchase for the introductory price of $75 USD/63 EUR/£50 GBP for a limited time (regular $95 USD/80 EUR/£63 GBP).
Karoryfer Samples has released Cowsynth, a sample library featuring medieval bagpipes mapped both as bagpipes and as a synthesizer.
For thousands of years, bagpipes have been the sonic terrorist’s weapon of choice. Cowsynth brings that terror to the 21st century by taking samples of bagpipes and treating them as oscillators in a simple synthesizer. Though designed with obnoxious big room plucks in mind, it turned out to be a lot more than that.
Bagpipes with their strong upper partials make a very nice organic substitute for a saw wave oscillator, and with eight-voice unison they make great pads, strings and organs. And obnoxious bagplucks, too. The pipes themselves were built based on a medieval drawing (so they’re not very Scottish), and the bag is cowskin – that’s why we gave it the Cowsynth name.
One traditional and one chromatic bagpipes mapping.
Bagpipes mappings include separate voices for drone and melody, trills and keyswitchable chirps.
Five different synthesizer-style mappings with different unison and detune algorithm.
Synthesizer mappings include AHDSR envelope, vibrato and resonant low-pass filter controls.
All synthesizer mappings include pad, pluck and organ versions.
WAV samples and SFZ mappings.
13 MB download size.
The library is available to download at no charge. Requires Plogue Sforzando.
Plogue has announced the release of Chipcrusher, an advanced bitcrusher, a speaker simulator and noise machine effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.
Chipcrusher features DAC Encoding, Background Noise and Post-Processing.
It’s an audio effect which plays back input audio through a simulation of early lofi digital audio codecs (DAC Encoding), adds grit (Background Noise), and outputs through a selection of speaker and filter impulse responses (Post-Processing).
It can work as a VST/AU/RTAS plug-in for most major sequencing audio programs and supported tracker programs on Windows and OS X.
There is a wide spectrum of results achievable with chipcrusher. Here’s a few use cases:
Uniquely destroy/mangle a beat, a guitar or any other audio track.
Play single hits and emulate the sound of old samplers.
Add ‘accurate dirt’ to chipsounds’s output.
Chipcrusher for Windows and Mac is available to purchase for $39 ex. VAT.
Plogue has released sforzando, a free SFZ player powered by the ARIA Engine.
Plogue is proud to announce the release of its new and free sample player that is highly SFZ 2.0 compliant. Advanced musicians and hobbyists now have a free and powerful tool to experiment and share instruments without relying on a proprietary format.
sforzando has only one slot, no fancy UI, effects or mixers. So everything needs to be done at the SFZ text file level, no cheating. sforzando is also a name given for a sudden change in music dynamics which is represented by the “sfz” symbol.
sforzando for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/standalone) is available to download now.
