Plugin Alliance adds USB flash drive activation to licensing system

Plugin Alliance has announced it has added flexible and convenient USB flash drive activation to its licensing system as of July 13th, 2012.

Plugin Alliance USB flash drive activation

Aside from its growing family of unsurpassed effects plug-ins — meticulously modelling high-end hardware from the likes of Brainworx, Mäag Audio, SPL, and Vertigo Sound, Plugin Alliance has always prided itself on its easy-to-use licensing system (using a single file to manage all licenses for activation on up to three computers)… clicking Activate when launching a new plug-in for the first time downloads a new license file to the computer in question from the Plugin Alliance server. Couldn’t be simpler, surely?

Simpler, no; more flexible, maybe. Now the Plugin Alliance activation system is even more flexible, offering users complete freedom to roam by transferring their licenses and plug-in installers to a single standard USB flash drive requiring only one USB port — unlike most other proprietary USB-based licensing systems.

A USB flash drive can be used to run Plugin Alliance plug-ins on other computers without having to activate those specific machines beforehand; plug-ins can be quickly copied onto different computers (or Avid’s VENUE live sound production systems) on a temporary basis before being deleted with no need to deactivate the computer (and/or console) afterwards, making it a perfect solution for touring FOH engineers or recording engineers who regularly work in different studios.

What’s more, Plugin Alliance has rigorously tested its new ‘roaming’ license system with Waves’ License Center-based equivalent while Waves did likewise; both companies are happy to report that users can use the same USB flash drive for their Plugin Alliance and Waves plug-ins and license files without interfering with each other. Simply perfect.

Imagine the convenience of being able to take your complete Plugin Alliance plug-in collection wherever you like, whenever you like, all on one single standard USB flash drive. Well, there’s no need to imagine anymore.

Wherever you may roam… plug in to your new Plugin Alliance production or recording home!

Brainworx bx_rockrack guitar amp plug-in available from Plugin Alliance

Plugin Alliance has announced the release of bx_rockrack, a guitar amp plug-in par excellence, developed by Plugin Alliance founder member Dirk Ulrich’s renowned German plug-ins company Brainworx.

Brainworx bx_rockrack

BX give you a handful of perfectly modeled tube-amps, and the way they have captured COMPLETE recording chains in some of the best equipped studios with the help of very experienced engineers is simply revolutionary. Select your favorite speaker, choose your amp, tweak the gain and EQ settings, and there you go.

World-class guitar sounds, recallable and reliable. If you have ever tried to record the same identical amp in the same studio twice and ended up frustrated because the results just were NOT the same in the end you know what we are talking about.

Unlike most other guitar amp plug-ins, bx_rockrack can be controlled just like a real amp and small effects rack; moreover, with so many perfect-sounding set-ups to choose from, its recording chains need not be edited or altered — simply select the cabinet, microphone, studio, and… keep on rockin’ in the real world! A nice-sounding vintage delay, noise gate, and high-quality guitar tuner are also at hand, helpfully, while some innovative Brainworx filters speedily shape amp set-ups with ease.

bx_rockrack can easily be played live since it offers a CPU-friendly, ultra-low-latency engine, so multiple instances can comfortably be run on any modern computer. The basic version includes the amps, recording chains, and Effects Rack, while the soon-to-be released PRO version will offer additional guitar-orientated plug-ins, plus an ability to use the bx_rockrack recording chains with other guitar amp plug-ins, or even real guitar amps via their line-out connections to the computer.

Brainworx announces bx_rockrack and Rock’n'Roll product line of plugins

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Apr 12, 2012

Brainworx has announced bx_rockrack, the first plug-in in its new Rock’n'Roll line of plug-ins.

The first product to be presented in this video sneak preview shows the soon-to-be-released bx_rockrack Guitar Amp plugin, and reveals the totally new approach Brainworx has taken to model not only a guitar amplifier and a speaker, but to “digitally capture” the whole recording chain of the NEVE VXS 72 equipped Brainworx Studio in Germany.

Unlike most other digital guitar plugins bx_rockrack does not offer models of “57 amps, 68 cabinets and 273 microphones”, but 3 GREAT SOUNDING AMPS (clean, crunch, lead – modeled with the typical BX quality, of course), and for the first time ever the complete recording chains of some of the best real-world studios out there (read below)!

Each recording chain contains the guitar power amp, the speaker cabinet, the microphone(s), mic preamp and console EQ, plus even the post-production effects needed to produce walls-of-sound ready to be released on any major label production. And.. bx_rockrack is as easy to operate as a real guitar rack!

A guitar, a DI box and bx_rockrack, that´s all you need to rock & roll.
Yes, we’re serious about this statement.

The PRO version will even enable you to use your own, real guitar amplifier or preamp to record through the recording chains we have captured, and to play our modeled amps live through your speaker cabinet on stage.

The recording sound of international top studios – in your computer!

After just finishing to capture the Brainworx Studio we will be in Los Angeles at the end of April to capture the recording chain of one of the world’s best-known rock guitar sound studios, famous and responsible for many of your favorite rock & metal CDs! Stay tuned for more info soon.

David Siu takes the The Big 4 Bundle in Plugin Alliance Giveaway

Plugin Alliance The BIG 4 Bundle

David Siu – a recent graduate from Collin College (Plano/Dallas area) music program – has won the recent Big 4 Bundle giveaway at rekkerd.org.

David likes to compose anything “from urban styles to up-tempo dance, plus a bit of misc. experimental & jazz.”

On his website Resonative it says:

Music are messages. Sometimes it’s a story too long to tell, sometimes bits of feelings one cannot into words. Maybe that tiny slice of life at 10, or a faint whisper from the sky. And other times they just speak, without reason.

I write messages. Hope they speak to you.

After having a listen to some of his songs on SoundCloud, I caught up with David for some Q&A.

rekkerd: Could you share some details on your musical works?
David: I like many things so it’s a bit of master-of-none… But piano is my main instrument, so lots of my music stem from my own playing at the keyboard. I grew up with Japanese pop music, so lots of them kind of rub off from that.

rekkerd: How do you incorporate software and plugins in your creative processes?
David: They are big part of it! My whole rig is based around my Macbook Pro, so pretty much everything is done ITB (in the box, Ed.). I tend to do rough sketches/programming in DAW, work with the ideas away from the computer for some time, and finally finishing out ITB again. Love mixing with outboards, but nothing beats plugins for me under a deadline.

rekkerd: What are your first impressions of the Big 4 Bundle plug-ins?
David: Totally blown away. All of them add something pleasant with just a small dose yet faithful to the signal. Especially Elysia Alpha, which I’ve been eyeing for some time but refused to demo in fear of going broke… Thanks to Rekkerd I don’t have to anymore! All 4 had already walked themselves into mixes I’m working on. They aren’t unicorns that shoot rainbow skittles the moment you drop them in, but with a couple clicks at the right place they absolutely make things sing.

rekkerd: Anything you’d like to share with rekkerd.org readers?
David: According to my friend, watching a person (me) giggling while tweaking knobs on the screen is apparently very creepy… So don’t do that.

And please support your local young composers! Massive shoutout to Rekkerd and Plugin Alliance :D

Thank you David, and many thanks to all who participated in the giveaway.
