LVC-Audio updates PreAMPed virtual analog preamp plugin to v1.0.1

LVC-Audio PreAMPed

LVC-Audio has released version 1.0.1 of PreAMPed, an effect plug-in that is designed to simulate many of the analog qualities of hardware preamplifiers.

This includes subtle EQ response curves, low- and high- frequency saturation, differences between left and right signals, crosstalk, noise, transformer/coil impulse response, and saturation and EQ changes due to gain changes.

PreAMPed utilizes over forty separate parameters to determine each of the preamp modules within PreAMPed. As a tool, PreAMPed can be used on multiple tracks to provide subtle enhancement to individual track elements, or on overall mixes.

Changes in PreAMPed v1.0.1

  • New bypass buttons for preamp, saturation, EQs, and stereo controls.
  • New routing button to switch processing order of EQ, Saturation, and Preamp.
  • New Saturation Type selector with two distinct saturation algorithms.
  • New 2x, 4x, and 8x oversampling with linear-phase filtering and latency compensation for mix control.
  • New A->B comparison ability to each knob (double-click will return the knob to the previous value, and right-clicking a knob will set a new previous value).
  • New finer knob control using the alt and shift keys in combination with the mouse.
  • Improved distortion modelling on several preamp models.
  • Fixed frequency shifts of preamp models when changing models with oversampling engaged.
  • Made demo bypass less annoying (shorter duration of bypassed sound, and longer intervals between bypassed sound).
  • Fixed latency reset issues when using the bypass control.
  • Fixed preset loading to ensure that controls were initialized to correct values.
  • Improved registration process (registration files saved in common location).
  • Improved waveform display.
  • Fixed VST3 initialization errors.
  • Fixed Clip LED from remaining stuck on when knob was adjusted.
  • Fixed overlapping text (increased GUI size).
  • Improved preamp buttons.
  • Improved knob position indicators on small knobs.

PreAMPed is available to purchase for $47.70 USD. Previous LVC-Audio customers can receive a 10% discounted price for PreAMPed.

Related: , , , , , , , , Posted in news on Jan 24, 2014 - comment 0 comments

M-Audio has announced M-Track Eight, an eightchannel, 24-bit USB audio interface designed for expanded recording capabilities with an ultralow-noise signal path, 112 dB signal-to-noise ratio, and zero-latency monitoring.

M-Track Eight
M-Track Eight will include Avid® Pro Tools Express with an iLok® USB key.

“The M-Track line is all about equipping recording musicians at every level with professional capability,” said JC Sutherland, M-Audio Product Manager. “It has the best-quality microphone preamps on the market for the cost and it comes with Pro Tools, so, right away, musicians are equipped with pro-level hardware and software.”

M-Track Eight has 24-bit / 96 kHz (max.) digital audio for recording audio higher than CD quality and, as its name implies, M-Track Eight includes eight XLR+1/4-inch combo inputs to accommodate any source. All inputs are combo jacks with mic/line auto-sensing capabilities, and Channels 1 and 2 add an instrument level switch in addition to being front-facing, which allows for easy access when the unit is rack-mounted.

Two banks of 48V phantom power are onboard for use with condenser microphones. Outputs include eight 1/4-inch TRS, two pairs of 1/4-inch monitor outputs with A/B control, and two 1/4-inch headphone outputs, which are switchable between Outputs 1 and 2 or 3 and 4. M-Track Eight is class-compliant with Mac and a driver is included for PC.

M-Audio will exhibit M-Track Eight for the first time in Hall A, Booth 6700 at the 2014 NAMM Show, January 23-26 in Anaheim, California.

Universal Audio announces Unison technology – Classic analog mic preamps for Apollo

Universal Audio

Universal Audio has announced its Unison technology, an audio processing breakthrough that enables the popular Apollo Audio Interfaces’ onboard mic preamps to sound and behave like the world’s most sought-after tube and solid state preamps.

More than three years in the making, Unison is an exclusive analog/digital integration system that gives the user continuous, realtime, bi-directional control and interplay between Apollo’s physical hardware and UAD software mic preamp models. With Unison, the Apollo mic preamp’s analog impedance, gain stage sweet spots, and component-level circuit behaviors are adjusted in real time prior to analog-to-digital conversion to accurately emulate the target mic preamp model.

“Apollo was designed and built with mic preamp modeling in mind, and has included input impedance switching from the very beginning — every Apollo mic preamp is Unison-ready,” says Universal Audio CEO Bill Putnam Jr. “The UA 610-B Tube Preamp and EQ is the first of many Unison-enabled plug-ins for the UAD Powered Plug-Ins platform. It’s included with the new Apollo Twin desktop interface, and will be available for all Apollo customers in Q1.”

Unison features

  • An exclusive analog/digital integration system that’s already built into every Apollo mic preamp
  • Enables Apollo mic preamps to sound and behave like the world’s most sought-after tube and solid state preamps — including their all-important impedance, gain stage sweet spots, and component-level circuit behaviors.
  • Continuous, realtime, bi-directional control and interplay between Apollo’s physical hardware and UAD software preamp model.
  • Requires an Apollo Interface, available from authorized dealers worldwide.

112dB updates Redline Equalizer to v1.0.4 & Redline Preamp to v1.0.2 + 50% off

112dB Redline Equalizer

112dB has updated its Redline Equalizer and Redline Preamp effect plugins, including a 64-bit version for Windows & OSX and several bug fixes.

Redline Preamp emulates an analogue preamp. It livens up any digital or “too clean” signal by adding warmth, character, and overall mojo. But unlike many other saturation plugins, Redline Preamp doesn’t stop at just a single (or at most a few) analogue devices. Instead we captured the essence of what makes analogue gear sound so, well, analogue and provide controls to sculpt the effect to your liking.

Redline Equalizer is a variable-phase EQ. Before Redline EQ made its appearance the world of equalizers was firmly divided into linear-phase (software) and non-linear phase (software or hardware) equalizers. Redline Equalizer combines the two and gives you access to the entire spectrum, from linear phase via almost-linear phase all the way to full analogue-style phase shift – and even beyond!

Changes in Redline Equalizer v1.0.4 / Preamp v1.0.2

  • New:
    • 64-bit VST & AU version for Windows & MAC OS
  • Improvements:
    • Drag & drop authorization was removed (to simplify the authorization process & enhance compatibility with ProTools 10)
    • [Redline Equalizer] dB representation in the Tube section has been changed. Was: <0dB – 24dB>. Is now: < -24dB -0dB>
  • Bug fixes:
    • Knob & slider parameters didn’t show up correctly in native editors and external controllers.
    • Sample rate wasn’t retrieved correctly from the host (AU): EQ-frequencies were off at non-44.1 sample rates.
    • Latency wasn’t communicated correctly to certain hosts.
    • Several memory leaks.

Redline Preamp and Redline Equalizer are available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS). To celebrate the update, 112dB is offering 50% off both plugins until 14th January, 2014.
