Slate Digital intros Virtual Microphone System

Slate Digital VMS

Slate Digital has introduced the Virtual Microphone System, a new microphone system which includes two microphones, a dual pre-amp converter, and a software plug-in module.

Using a super clean and transparent microphone and pre-amplification chain in conjunction with The VMS software, Slate recreates the color and character of some of the most beloved classic mic’s and pre-amps used in the recording industry.

Switch between a virtual 47 and a ribbon 121 and try them through different preamps. Or put a virtual 57 on a snare drum or guitar amp. Zero latency means you can record directly into your DAW using these virtual mics and preamps. And do it all at a fraction of the price!

Slate Digital does it again with another groundbreaking product from the guys who really love this stuff.

The VMS will be demonstrated at the Winter NAMM 2014, booth #6921.

112dB updates Redline Equalizer to v1.0.4 & Redline Preamp to v1.0.2 + 50% off

112dB Redline Equalizer

112dB has updated its Redline Equalizer and Redline Preamp effect plugins, including a 64-bit version for Windows & OSX and several bug fixes.

Redline Preamp emulates an analogue preamp. It livens up any digital or “too clean” signal by adding warmth, character, and overall mojo. But unlike many other saturation plugins, Redline Preamp doesn’t stop at just a single (or at most a few) analogue devices. Instead we captured the essence of what makes analogue gear sound so, well, analogue and provide controls to sculpt the effect to your liking.

Redline Equalizer is a variable-phase EQ. Before Redline EQ made its appearance the world of equalizers was firmly divided into linear-phase (software) and non-linear phase (software or hardware) equalizers. Redline Equalizer combines the two and gives you access to the entire spectrum, from linear phase via almost-linear phase all the way to full analogue-style phase shift – and even beyond!

Changes in Redline Equalizer v1.0.4 / Preamp v1.0.2

  • New:
    • 64-bit VST & AU version for Windows & MAC OS
  • Improvements:
    • Drag & drop authorization was removed (to simplify the authorization process & enhance compatibility with ProTools 10)
    • [Redline Equalizer] dB representation in the Tube section has been changed. Was: <0dB – 24dB>. Is now: < -24dB -0dB>
  • Bug fixes:
    • Knob & slider parameters didn’t show up correctly in native editors and external controllers.
    • Sample rate wasn’t retrieved correctly from the host (AU): EQ-frequencies were off at non-44.1 sample rates.
    • Latency wasn’t communicated correctly to certain hosts.
    • Several memory leaks.

Redline Preamp and Redline Equalizer are available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS). To celebrate the update, 112dB is offering 50% off both plugins until 14th January, 2014.

Sound Performance Lab intros Phonitor 2 headphone preamp

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Dec 11, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Sound Performance Lab has announced Phonitor 2, bringing preamplifier/monitor controller functionality and remote controllable volume to the headphone preamp.

SPL Phonitor 2

We are uber-happy to introduce the successor of our legendary Phonitor headphone preamp. We have kept all proven features while incorporating some major improvements — as such, the new Phonitor can be used as the ultimate monitor controller and preamp for three different sources.

Likewise, we revised the 120-Volt technology in order for it to perform better, which resulted in our measurement gear being outclassed. Even our creative team got even more creative and came up with a fascinating name: “Phonitor 2.” There’s only one thing that remained unchanged: the price.

Phonitor 2 features

  • 120 Volt headphone amp and preamp/monitor controller.
  • For dynamic and balanced headphones.
  • For all headphones with an impedance of >10 Ohms (>40 Ohms for balanced headphones).
  • Volume adjustment with any remote control.
  • Frequency response: 4Hz – 480kHz (-3dB).
  • THD+N: HP 0.00091 %, Line output 0.00085%.
  • Dynamic range: HP 133.62dB/Line 134.37dB.

The Phonitor 2 costs MSRP 1,649 EUR.
