PreSonus intros Temblor T8 subwoofer

PreSonus has announced the Temblor T8, an active subwoofer monitor speaker.

PreSonus Temblor T8

Designed for critical listening in the studio or at home, the PreSonus® Temblor® T8 active subwoofer complements any full-range monitoring system, making it ideal for personal studios, gaming, audiophiles, and home theaters.

Like its larger sibling the Temblor T10, the T8 naturally extends the low-frequency response of full-range speakers without overshadowing them. The Temblor T8 delivers punchy, musical lows and offers user controls not normally available in this price range, including a continuously variable lowpass filter (50 Hz to 130 Hz) for creating a seamless crossover transition and a switchable highpass filter that removes content below 80 Hz from the full-range signal sent to satellite speakers, allowing you the flexibility to optimize your system for your room and your needs.

While an ideal companion for the PreSonus Ceres™ Bluetooth monitors, the Temblor T8 has been designed to pair with any home or studio speaker, including those in PreSonus’ professional studio-monitor lines. The Temblor T8 features an 8-inch, down-firing, glass-composite woofer with high-density rubber surround driven by a Class AB amplifier that delivers 200W power. It also sports a round, front-firing acoustic port; left and right ¼-inch TRS and RCA main inputs; and left right ¼-inch TRS and RCA pass-through outputs to connect satellite speakers, making it the perfect hub for your sound system.

As with PreSonus Ceres speakers, the Energy Conservation mode meets the European ErP directive.

PreSonus intros Ceres C3.5BT & C4.5BT speakers

Related: , , , Posted in news on Sep 08, 2014 - comment 0 comments

PreSonus has announced its upcoming Ceres BT-series of Bluetooth speakers that bring studio quality to the home.

PreSonus Ceres C4.5BT

Designed for music enthusiasts, gamers, home theater, and personal studios, PreSonus® Ceres™ C3.5BT and C4.5BT active speakers deliver professional sound quality that lets you hear your music clearly and accurately. With wireless Bluetooth audio streaming and a front-panel 1/8″ stereo input, they are perfect for use with tablets, smartphones, and other computers.

Unlike most comparably priced speakers, Ceres BT-series speakers have EQ that lets you create a more accurate listening environment and provide a dedicated Sub Out to easily integrate a subwoofer. Energy Conservation mode saves energy when the speakers are not in use and meets the European ErP directive.

The Ceres C3.5BT and C4.5BT feature 3.5-inch and 4.5-inch Kevlar™ low frequency transducers, respectively. Both models have 1-inch, low-mass, silk-dome tweeters and responsive 25W Class AB amplification per speaker.

In addition to the 1/8″ stereo input, the front panel sports a 1/8″ stereo headphone output and a volume control. The rear panel is dominated by a round bass-reflex port and hosts balanced ¼” TRS and unbalanced RCA inputs and the ¼” balanced TRS subwoofer output.

Protection features include RF interference, output current limiting, over-temperature, transient, and subsonic protection.

The Ceres C4.5BT delivers up to 108 dB SPL (maximum continuous), and the C3.5BT supplies up to 105 dB SPL. Frequency response is rated at 70 Hz to 20 kHz for the C4.5BT and 80 Hz to 20 kHz for the C3.5BT.

The Ceres series is scheduled for the end of the third quarter of 2014, with an estimated retail price of $299.95 USD per pair for the C4.5BT and $229.95 USD per pair for the C3.5BT.

PreSonus intros StudioLive RM16AI and RM32AI rack-mount digital mixers

Related: , , , , Posted in news on Sep 02, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Based on the StudioLive AI-series engine and controlled with battle-ready UC Surface software for Mac, Windows, and iOS, the StudioLive RM16AI and RM32AI 32x16x3 rack-mount Active Integration digital mixers are scalable, compact, and 100 percent recallable.

PreSonus StudioLive RM32AI

PreSonus’ new UC Surface control software was specifically designed to be an interface for live mixing but also serves well in a studio environment. The careful layout of the mixing features provides quick, intuitive access to everything you need in the heat of mixing.

This groundbreaking remote-control software runs on Mac and Windows computers, as well as iPad, so you only need to learn one piece of software regardless of platform. UC Surface supports iPad and Windows 8 touchscreens, taking full advantage of these intuitive multi-touch interface technologies.

The 3U rack-mount RM16AI provides 16 locking XLR inputs with recallable XMAX™ Class A preamps, 8 XLR line outs, and 3 main outs (left, right, and mono/center); 32 internal channels and 25 buses; a 52×34 FireWire 800 recording interface; 96 kHz operation; and extensive signal processing.

The 4U rack-mount RM32AI offers 32 inputs with recallable XMAX preamps and 16 line outputs but otherwise has the same features as the 16-input version. Both mixers offer individual +48V phantom power on all inputs; a +48V Meters button displays phantom-power assignment on the input meter grid.

Scalable and designed for live-sound mixing and studio recording, the RM-series mixers’ Active Integration™ technology includes direct Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking and tightly integrated Capture™ recording software with true Virtual Soundcheck mode and Studio One® Artist DAW for Mac and Windows.

StudioLive RM-series mixers are true Active Integration mixers, with Fat Channel signal processing on all input channels and all buses, including a 4-band parametric EQ, compressor, gate, limiter, and more. However, unlike StudioLive AI mixers, the RM series’ recallable XMAX preamps mean that every parameter on the mixer can be saved and recalled.

With a remote stage-box form factor, these mixers are built to withstand rigorous road abuse. The front panel provides input signal-present and clip LEDs (16 for the RM16AI, 32 for the RM32AI) and provides stereo RCA tape inputs, a headphone output with volume knob and source-select buttons, a Mute All button that temporarily mutes all inputs and outputs, and a USB type-A jack that hosts the included Wi-Fi LAN adapter.

The rear panel contains an option slot that comes with two FireWire 800 ports, an Ethernet control port, and S/PDIF I/O. The slot also accepts the same option cards as the StudioLive AI-series digital mixers; with Dante, AVB, and Thunderbolt cards coming soon, StudioLive RM-series mixers can easily be updated to keep up with the latest networking technologies.

Also on the rear are a power jack and switch, MIDI I/O, and a mirror of the line outputs on a DB25 connector-perfect for connecting to wireless in-ear systems.

In addition to UC Surface, the tightly integrated software bundle includes PreSonus Capture™ live-recording software with true Virtual Soundcheck and easy-to-use Studio One Artist DAW. StudioLive RM-series mixers also work with PreSonus’ free QMix-AI aux-mix control software for iPhone/iPod touch, enabling musicians to control their own monitor mixes.

An extensive library of tutorials and downloads completes the package.

PreSonus Notion 5

PreSonus has announced it is shipping Notion 5, a major upgrade to its popular notation software.

This new version makes it easier than ever to write your ideas quickly and includes a new video window, new effects from PreSonus Studio One®, an enhanced chord library, a custom rules editor, and many notation and publishing improvements. Notion is the only notation editor that supports Mac, Windows, and iPad and the only one that can run 64-bit on both Mac and Windows.

This is the first update since Notion joined the PreSonus family, and it shows. The user interface has been redesigned to more resemble Studio One and other PreSonus software, and Notion 5 comes with PreSonus’ Native Effects™ Limiter, Compressor, and Pro EQ plug-ins. The new version adds a variety of enhancements for film, TV, and video composers, including a video window with a new timecode view. Unlike competing notation programs, it can import a variety of modern video formats.

Notion 4 offered rules templates for orchestral VST libraries so you could load up an instrument and write dynamics, effects, and instrumental techniques into the score without using the VST interface or programming keyswitches. Notion 5 adds the ability to create custom rules for any VST library without editing XML files by selecting from drop-down menus.

Notation improvements make Notion even faster and easier to use, including an enharmonic spelling tool, cross-staff notation, layout and printing improvements, and new shortcut sets. You also get an enhanced chord library with more library chords, user-created chords, and recent-chord recall.

Version 5 also adds Mac Retina display support and Windows 8 touchscreen optimization.

While adding these new features and many more, Notion continues to deliver a fast and intuitive workflow, ability to work well with other studio technologies (including full ReWire support), and playback with high-quality sounds from world-class artists and studios, including the London Symphony Orchestra. Notion is the only notation software that can output 32 audio pairs to a mixing console or in a ReWire session.

Notion 5 is available at an expected MAP/street price of $149 USD. Academic pricing is available.
