SKnote has launched Somma and Ferro, two hardware audio processor units.

Built around the old “analog computing” technique, Somma is designed to provide deep control on the dynamic harmonic content of audio tracks, stems, mixes, masters.

Somma features eight balanced input channels with individual saturation model selection (six independent configurations available on each channel) and saturation level controls, providing deep control on the amount of dynamic harmonic enhancement and on the behavior of each channel.

Including a fully discrete signal path and input and output transformers, Ferro is a passive stereo device (no mains) that dynamically adds mid and high frequency range presence, weight and open-ness to tracks, stems, mixes and masters.

Including custom inductors and transformers, Ferro also features a switchable inter-channel (left-right) coupling control to set the amount of galvanically insulated interaction between the channels, happening in the selected range.

SKnote has also released the MCAudioLab EQ1, a passive equalizer effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

A pultec-style equaliser, with tube output stage, solid state and tube power supply options.
It includes two stacked units for linked or dual control, plus a special 1U device with boosting (driving the inputs), and switchable Left-Right and Mid-Side matrix mode.

The emulation also includes both power supplies options, solid state and tube, independently switchable for each single unit.

OverTone DSP has released the PTH-2A program equalizer plug-in for Mac OS X and Windows.

The PTH-2A vintage Pultec style equalizer effect plugin.

Based on the Pultec EQH, the PTH-2A similarly provides a cost-effective subset of features found on the popular PTC-2A / EQP-1 emulation, at a significantly reduced price.

Using the same filter technology and separate low frequency boost and attenuate controls to replicate the signature Pultec low-end sounds, the PTH-2A also includes a transformer-coupled tube amplifier emulation which further enhances the vintage qualities.

Avid has announced VENUEPack 4, a new suite of professional plug-ins and utilities that will come bundled with all VENUE digital console systems, providing live sound engineers with more creative options than ever.

From re-creations of popular vintage hardware to the latest studio processing effects, VENUEPack 4 includes 30 powerful plug-ins from Avid and third-party partners including Flux::, Focusrite, JOEMEEK, Line 6, and others.

VENUEPack 4 plug-ins run natively on all VENUE systems—no external plug-in runner or separate laptop required. They offer high-quality sound, reliable performance, exceptionally low latency, automatic delay compensation support, and can be controlled right from the console surface.

OverToneDSP has announced the release of the PTC-2A equalizer effect plugin for Mac.

Modelled on the classic Pultec EQP-1A, the PTC-2A features separate LF Boost and Attenuate controls, a transformer-coupled valve amplifier emulation and the control interaction responsible for all the signature Pultec sounds, including the famous ‘low-end trick’ in which LF Boost and Attenuate controls are used simultaneously to provide tight bass boost without losing detail.

The PTC-2A is modelled using measured data and schematics from the real hardware.

PTC-2A features

• Separate LF Boost and Attenuate Controls — Simultaneous low frequency boost and cut, emulating the classic Pultec ‘Low-end trick’.
• Physical Control Weighting — Replicates the ‘feel’ as well as the look of high quality rotary controls.
