Digital Performer 8 will ship Spring, 2012. Pricing is TBA.

MOTU also demonstrated iPad support for CueMix FX, the mixing and effects processing engine in MOTU’s current line of audio interfaces.

With a simple software update, MOTU audio interface users will be able to control the mixing and processing features in their MOTU interface from OSC-compatible iPad software, which offers graphic, multi-touch control over the hardware’s mixer, EQ, compression and reverb.

iPad support for CueMix will ship as a free software update in Spring, 2012.

Celemony releases Melodyne editor 2

Celemony Melodyne editor 2

Celemony has announced the availability of Melodyne editor Version 2.

New features include extended timing tools, wide-ranging functions for working with scales, plus Rewire, keyboard shortcuts in the plug-in, and numerous other improvements.

With Version 2, Melodyne editor has become still more musical, capable of editing in still greater depth, and even more widely compatible.

Changes in Melodyne editor 2.0

  • Extended timing tools: With the Attack Speed tool, you can edit the transients that are of crucial importance to the sound – even for each note individually: an important creative tool not only for percussive sounds. In addition, the new Time Handles allow you to shape even the time course within notes, which, for example, makes even more detailed editing of vocal phrasing possible.
  • True Scale & Tuning: The new scale functions now permit even the editing of Arabic, Indian, contemporary and microtonal music with Melodyne. Countless scales, temperaments and tunings can be loaded, edited in detail or created from scratch. The highlight is the Scale Detective, which is capable of analyzing any piece of music or sample so that even users with no detailed knowledge can transfer the scale and tuning of one recording to another.
  • Rewire support: Melodyne should be of use to as many producers as possible – regardless of which DAW they work with. For this reason, Melodyne editor now also supports Rewire and therefore allows operation with DAWs that have no plug-in interfaces or were previously incompatible with Melodyne.
  • Greater transparency and ease of use through features like keyboard shortcuts in plug-in mode, highlighting of blobs as they play back, and an improved display of the time and pitch grids.

Melodyne editor for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/Standalone) is available to purchase for 399 USD/EUR. The update from Melodyne editor 1 is 99 USD/EUR. The update is free for users who registered Melodyne editor for the first time after October 1, 2011.

Celemony intros Melodyne editor 2

Celemonyhas announced version 2 of its Melodyne editor, offering unique possibilities for working with different scales and temperaments, more powerful timing tools, Rewire integration, and numerous other improvements.

As a result, Melodyne is even more musical, allows you to go even deeper when editing your material, and is even more widely compatible than ever before.

Celemony Melodyne editor 2

Not all music is played on white and black keys, true intonation is complex. Other cultures have musical traditions in which Mozart and Beethoven do not loom large, and absolute flexibility is also needed in experimental music. Powerful reasons for opening up totally new musical worlds with Melodyne editor 2. The new True Scale & Tuning functions offer those who produce Arab, Indian or contemporary and microtonal music the ideal function set for editing their work with Melodyne. True Scale & Tuning also has the power to enhance conventional music production, by making it easy for users to explore the emotional and atmospheric subtleties of different scales and temperaments and integrate them into their own music. Countless different scales and temperaments can be loaded, edited in detail, and even created from scratch. The highlight is the Scale Detective, which is capable of analyzing any sample or piece of music and allows even users with no detailed knowledge to transfer the scale and tuning of one recording to another.

With its note-based way of working Melodyne has always allowed the editing of highly specific aspects of timing, but the function set of Melodyne editor 2 is even more powerful in this respect. The new Attack Speed tool allows you to edit the starting transients, that are so determinative of the sound – even for each note separately. An important new design implement, not only for percussive sounds. In addition, with the new Time Handles, even time progressions within individual notes can be reshaped. Among other things, this makes even more detailed editing of vocals possible.

Melodyne is intended to be of use to as many producers as possible – regardless which DAW they use. For this reason, Melodyne editor 2 now also supports Rewire. This means it can operate now even with DAWs that lack plug-in interfaces or were previously incompatible with Melodyne.

The update to Version 2 brings other minor improvements and workflow optimizations that along with Rewire integration are also included in the free updates to Version 2 of Melodyne assistant and essential.

Melodyne editor 2 will be available in November 2011, priced 399 USD/EUR, the update from version 1 is 99 USD/EUR. Users who registered Melodyne editor after October 1, 2011 can update free of charge.

At the same time as the update to Melodyne editor 2, free updates to Version 2 of Melodyne assistant and essential will be released, as well as an updated trial version that allows you to test Melodyne editor for 30 days without any limitations.

PreSonus introduces Studio One 2

PreSonus Studio One 2

PreSonus has announced Studio One 2, a music production software for Windows and Mac.

Just two years ago, Studio One changed the DAW world with unprecedented ease of use and blazing fast workflow. Studio One 2 takes things to the next level by vastly expanding capability without increasing complexity.

Changes in Studio One 2

  • Integrated Melodyne Pitch Correction – Celemony’s Melodyne is the most sought-after pitch-correction solution in the market, and it has been the model for proprietary solutions in several DAWs. Studio One 2 seamlessly integrates Melodyne so tightly that, for practical purposes, Melodyne is simply a part of Studio One.? Learn more
  • Transient Detection, Editing, and Groove Extraction – Sure, you can do transient detection and editing in other DAWs—but it’s slow, and you often have to make a lot of decisions along the way. In Studio One, you can quantize multitrack drums in two steps: group the tracks, then quantize. Studio One does the analysis and phase-coherent quantization for you—with great-sounding results! Want to quantize audio to other existing audio? Drag-and-drop audio into the Groove panel, then quantize. Groove extraction is as simple as drag-and-drop; extract a groove from any audio and apply it to any other audio in seconds!
  • Multitrack Comping Done Right – Single and multitrack comping are quick and easy in Studio One—and faster than with most DAWs! No tool-switching is needed, and crossfading between takes is automated, although you can edit the fades. Auditioning takes is as simple as holding Alt and clicking on a take—no more manually soloing entire lanes, as in other DAWs.
  • Stay Organized – Keeping everything organized can be critical to an efficient workflow, which is a breeze with the new Folder Tracks and Track List.
  • Enhanced Mastering with Studio One Professional – No other DAW offers a truly integrated mastering suite comparable to the Project page in Studio One Professional. Mastering an album is much more than sequencing and level-matching. Studio One Professional provides all of the necessary tools for professional production, including a phase meter and spectrum and peak/RMS level meters with K-System options. To all of this, Studio One Professional 2 adds DDP Export, PQ editing, higher-quality sample-rate conversion, and other professional features.
  • Much more – details here.

Studio One 2 is expected to ship November, 2011, and will be available to purchase in three versions:

  • Studio One Artist ($99 USD) delivers all of the core audio and MIDI recording and editing features, plus 26 32-bit effects plug-ins and 4 virtual instruments, and there is no limit on track count and plug-in instantiations.
  • Studio One Producer ($199 USD) includes everything in Studio One Artist and adds support for ReWire and AU/VST plug-ins, MP3 import and export, and additional third-party content.
  • Studio One Professional ($399 USD) has everything in Studio One Artist and Producer and adds the Project page, an integrated mastering solution; fully licensed Melodyne Essential pitch correction; SoundCloud support; Red Book CD burning; video playback and sync; and five more Native Effects plug-ins.
