Applied Acoustics Systems has announced the upcoming release of the Abstractions sound bank for the Ultra Analog VA-2 synthesizer and AAS Player plug-ins in collaboration with artist and sound designer Richard Devine.
Abstractions is the second sound bank title by Richard Devine in AAS’ Sound Bank Series following the Microsound Textures title for the Chromaphone creative percussion synthesizer. This collection of 127 signature sounds covers standard analog categories but revisited with Richard Devine’s unique aesthetics. These finely crafted sounds range from super precise percussion hits to rich and intricate ambient textures and are sure to provide many hours of exploration in evocative soundscapes.

Applied Acoustics Systems has announced the release of Ultra Analog VA-2, an update to the analog synthesizer plug-in for Windows and Mac.
Ultra Analog VA-2 ships with a new streamlined interface, a new equalizer and compressor module, a new multi-effect processor, brings native 64-bit operation on Mac OS X, and more. The factory library has been redesigned with more than 600 presets including a sound bank by renowned sound designer Richard Devine.

Microsound Textures joins Cardinals and KitNetix as the third title in Chromaphone’s Sound Bank Series expansion line.
Microsound Textures is all about precision, details, subtlety, and complexity. Richard Devine’s idea was to use grain particles and tiny pulses to create rich and dense textures. In addition, the collection includes a wide variety of surprising and mysterious instruments ranging from light and delicate to dark and atonal. S-LAYER is a sound creation tool that allows you to create, edit and play new sound combinations by taking samples and layering them together using an eight part sampler and an intuitive cell layout. By combining sounds from the included sample map or your existing sample library, S-LAYER facilitates the discovery of new oneshots, sound effects and loops using pre-existing sample content. Whether you’re looking for a new way to create thick drum samples for hip-hop or a massive impact sound effect for game, S-LAYER delivers.
With S-LAYER, up to eight parts are played back and manipulated simultaneously using an advanced layered sampler engine, where each layer remains independent and can be surgically edited. Time-tested sound design techniques such as reversing, pitching, modulating and mixing sounds together can be quickly achieved by randomizing and fine-tuning with sliders and knobs. In addition to the on-board granular, filter and time-based effects, you can also connect your own effects using the insert/send system or by using the direct outputs.
