Phuturetone has released the Philteroid filter effect plug-in as part of the KVR Developer Challenge 2012.

Philteroid is inspired by the Filterbank 2 analog filter unit by Sherman.

Philteroid is a dual filter effect, suitable for use on various type of rhythmic sounds (i.e. drums, bass, synth, guitar). Beside pure filter work, Philteroid is also capable of FM, AM and saturation, and can transform plain sound to one with unique character and interesting texture.

Various filter types, from basic (LP, BP, HP, BR) to uncommon ones, can be obtained with filter type blend control and parallel/serial routing of filters. Filters can be synced in eleven predefined harmonic offsets between filter frequencies and modulated internally by audio signal (FM), ADSR envelope, envelope follower, LFO; or trough external input.

Philteroid is also armed with various amplitude modulation sources and can be used as envelope sharper, expander, noise gate, ring modulator.

• Filters: Two resonant filters with filter type mix controls (LP/BP/HP/Notch/All-Pass), input overdrive and serial/parallel output routing blend control.
• Frequency Modulators: FM, ADSR envelope, envelope follower, external audio, LFO, MIDI (key tracking).
• Amplitude Modulators: AM, ADSR envelope, AR envelope, envelope follower, external audio, LFO.
• I/Os: 12 assignable input/output slots for internal and external routing of audio/CV and MIDI signals.
• Controls: Automation of all UI controls (except I/O slots) is possible. Double-click reset function.
• Patches: 128 Patches (32 Presets and 96 blank User Patches). Patch Initialize and Patch Randomize functions.

WaveShaper has announced the release of three new electronic drumkits.

New WaveShaper kits

• Moscow Disco &nasdh; Built like a tank with a funky design, you will be surprised by the raw sound of the ultra-rare Marsh UDS russian drum synth. The kick drum is huge, the snares and hats are sooo analogue, and this unit is also perfect for all kind of depitched toms and retro sci-fi FX. This WaveShaper kit will bring you back into eighties goodness, but with its thick, blurby, retromodernistic sound, you will also enjoy it on your electro, idm, minimal or space disco tracks.
• 12Bit Drummer &nasdh; This kit is made by recording an acoustic drum with an Akai S20 12bit sampler. Some processing where then made in order to keep the sound natural while bringing out the gritty nature of this cheap sampling device. The sound is gritty but not lofi, with a solid low end, sharp transients and warm presence for the snares and hi-hats.
• Aluminium / White Metal – Aluminum and White Metal are two variations of some percussive sounds I made using a Waldorf Blofeld and a Sherman FilterBank. The sounds are very synthetic, with boomy low end and fast attacks, and despite being quite similar , you will quickly hear that one is dirtier, more overdriven than the other, thanks to the analogue rawness of the Sherman Filterbank.

606 Drums

606 Drums by Wave Alchemy serves up 290 drum samples from Roland’s sought-after TR-606 drum machine. The samples included have been lovingly recorded through an API pre-amp with many sounds boasting multiple round robin variations, accent and velocity layers! 606 Drums contains four pre-mapped drum kit patches for use with Kontakt 2, 3, & 4 and Battery 3. Each kit makes extensive use of multiple velocity layers, round robin sample playback techniques and choke groups to create truly expressive sample instruments.

Club Kicks

Club Kicks by Wave Alchemy serves up 75 thunderous kick drum samples from Jomox’s famous analogue kick drum module. As with Electrik Drums and Airbase Drums all sounds have been superbly recorded through an API 512c preamp, only this time ALL samples have been enhanced with generous amounts of outboard compression and EQ!
To further this, all 75 samples have then been passed through a Sherman Filterbank distortion unit to add a grittier and more harmonically rich tone! For your convenience we have included both the distorted and predistorted kick drum samples giving you a whooping 150 floor shaking analogue drum hits.
