Softube has announced the release of the Trident A-Range, a channel equalizer effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.
The Trident A-Range is a legendary piece of equipment. As only thirteen A-Range consoles were ever made, it remains a holy grail for sound engineers and producers around the world that hope to create works of art equal to those that were originally recorded on the A-Range — David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, Queen, Elton John, the list goes on…
The A-Range plug-in from Softube is the first and only native and TDM plug-in that has been fully endorsed by original designer Malcolm Toft and Trident Audio.
The plug-in is a model of a channel on one of the original 13 Trident A-Range consoles. We chose to model channel 15 from the console at Sweet Silence Studio ‘B’ in Denmark, producer Flemming Rasmussen’s favorite channel for recording lead vocals. Flemming also used it for the solo and rhythm guitars on Metallica’s “Ride The Lightning” and “Master of Puppets”, and Ritchie Blackmore’s guitar on the Rainbow albums “Difficult to Cure” and “Bent out of Shape”.
The A-Range channel features four bands of equalization and high and low pass filters. The sound of the bands is often referred to as “colorful” and “musical”. When running a hot enough signal through the original unit and boosting the bands, it is possible to get it to distort, the result is a hairy and effective saturation that is just right in some situations, and just wrong in others!
Trident A-Range features
- Created together with original designer Malcolm Toft.
- Each and every component carefully modeled.
- Same sweet sounding EQ filters that made the original legendary.
- Interaction between the different bands, making this equalizer one of its kind.
- Saturation control.
- Very CPU friendly.
The Trident A-Range EQ is available at the introductory price of $229 USD (VST/AU/RTAS) or $329 USD (TDM/RTAS/VST/AU/VENUE) through February 2010.

Softube has announced the release of Tube-Tech CL 1B Native, a compressor effect plug-in for PC and Mac.
Tube-Tech CL 1B is a true studio classic, heard on tons and tons of records for the past 20 years. Like its hardware counterpart, the Tube-Tech CL 1B native plug-in sounds soft, smooth, groovy and can compress an insane amount of dB’s without sounding bad.
The CL 1B plug-ins by Softube are the only Tube-Tech plug-ins that are fully endorsed by Tube-Tech.
This version requires no DSP hardware but uses the same outstanding modeling technology and algorithms as the famous Tube-Tech CL 1B plug-in for TDM and PowerCore (distributed by TC Electronic). The sound is of course just as fantastic as its predecessor. With this unprecedented accuracy, down to details such as the precise VU meter behaviour, the Tube-Tech CL 1B plug-in is definitely in a league of its own.
Tube-Tech CL 1B Native features
- Classic Tube-Tech sound in your computer.
- Created together with the designers at Lydkraft/Tube-Tech.
- Each and every component carefully modeled.
- Fix./man. mode for breaking traditional compression boundaries.
- External sidechain control.
- A seriously great looking GUI.
- Very CPU friendly.
Tube-Tech CL 1B Native is available for PC and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS) for the 25% off introductory price of $329 USD (excl. VAT).

Softube has announced the releases of the Passive-Active Pack, an EQ plug-in collection for Windows and Mac.

The Passive-Active Pack is a collection of three very different equalizers, each with its own character and quirks. The equalizers contain emulations of real workhorse equalizers, used on thousands of recordings from past to present.
The Passive Equalizer is a three-band EQ with an unprecedented clear and open sound, a warm low end and sparkling top, while the Active Equalizer is Passive’s counterpart with three fully parametric bands and a tight and focused sound. The Focusing Equalizer is an untraditional take on the EQ concept where the low, mid and high bands move automatically and musically in relation to the high and low cut filters. It also features filters from the Passive and Active EQ’s as well as an outstanding one-knob Saturation control.
The Passive-Active Pack will assist you in getting that familiar sound heard in your favorite recordings, as well as move you into new and uncharted sonic territories.
