Soundhack has released version 1.29 of Spectral Shapers, a suite of filter plug-ins (based on the SoundHack program) which emphasize the reshaping of the timbre of sound.
SoundHack is a program that has been used in sound design for music and film for the last 12 years.
It is a collection of spectral filters which emphasize the creative manipulation of sound. SoundHack has been used on many films – from “The Matrix” to “The City of Lost Children” – and by many recording artists – from Nine Inch Nails to Ry Cooder to J Lesser.
Changes in Spectral Shapers v1.29
- Fixes many small bugs.
- Now compatible with current versions of Logic Pro and ProTools.
The Spectral Shapers are available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) as a download for $99 USD, and $150 USD for the boxed version.

Soundhack has released Delay Trio, a collection of three delay effect plugins.
Tom Erbe writes:
This is a group of three plugins that I developed as class demonstrations while teaching computer music and studio technique at UC San Diego. All of these are derived from the same basic delay algorithm: a hermite interpolated delay line with variable modulation, and a feedback loop with dc blocking and saturation. Pitch shifting is achieved with a dual head crossfading delay (ala Eltro Tempophon/Dennis Gabor/Pierre Schaeffer phonogene) and is decidedly low-fi. The saturating feedback also allows them to be great drone and noise generators.
Delay Trio features
- +delay, classic delay effects.
- +pitchdelay, essentially the same plugin with controls oriented toward pitch shifting.
- +bubbler, a granular delay in which grains are pulled from the delay line with randomized start time, delay time and pitch shift value.
Delay Trio is available as freeware for Windows and Mac (VST/RTAS/AU).

Soundhack has released an updated version of +delay, a stereo rotary delay plugin.
Changes in this update
- Fixed bugs that would cause occasional crashing (esp. in Max) and would sometimes cause silence in the right channel.
- Additional presets: ADT -Chorus – Flange – Slapback- Pitch Shift Up/Down – Random Sample & Hold – Comb Filtering – Filtered Feedback.
+delay is currently only available as a VST for Mac (Windows and RTAS & AU should be available within the next few weeks).

Soundhack has released a public beta of +delay, a delay VST effect plug-in for Mac.
Developer Tom writes:
It is a stereo delay line with LFO modulation, filtering and a dual head mode, and some other little treats. You should be able to do everything from standard stuff like flanging, chorus and echo, to 70s style pitch-shifting and over-saturated comb filtering. I was able to get a nice Shepard/barber pole flange dialed in last night.
+delay is currently only available for Mac (VST). Presets, Windows, AU and RTAS version are yet to be developed.

Soundhack has updated Freesound Bundle to version 6.0.2.
The Freesound Bundle includes +chebyshev (distortion), +decimate (bit depth and sample rate reduction), +phasescope (phase monitor), +compand (compressor/expander) and +matrix (mid-side to left-right encoder and decoder).
Updated in v6.0.2
- Fixed: multiprocessor use bug under ProTools
- Fixed: bug which caused problems under Sonar 6
The Spectral Shapers are updated to version 1.24, which also fixes these problems.
Note: Windows users will need to unistall previous versions of Freesound before upgrading. Mac users will need to delete ~/Library/Preferences/DAE Prefs to force ProTools to rescan the plugin database.
