Soundhack releases +delay VST public beta

Related: , , , , Posted in news on Jan 18, 2008 - comment 0 comments

Soundhack has released a public beta of +delay, a delay VST effect plug-in for Mac.

Developer Tom writes:

It is a stereo delay line with LFO modulation, filtering and a dual head mode, and some other little treats. You should be able to do everything from standard stuff like flanging, chorus and echo, to 70s style pitch-shifting and over-saturated comb filtering. I was able to get a nice Shepard/barber pole flange dialed in last night.

+delay is currently only available for Mac (VST). Presets, Windows, AU and RTAS version are yet to be developed.

Soundhack updates Freesound Bundle to v6.0.2

Soundhack +compand

Soundhack has updated Freesound Bundle to version 6.0.2.

The Freesound Bundle includes +chebyshev (distortion), +decimate (bit depth and sample rate reduction), +phasescope (phase monitor), +compand (compressor/expander) and +matrix (mid-side to left-right encoder and decoder).

Updated in v6.0.2

  • Fixed: multiprocessor use bug under ProTools
  • Fixed: bug which caused problems under Sonar 6

The Spectral Shapers are updated to version 1.24, which also fixes these problems.

Note: Windows users will need to unistall previous versions of Freesound before upgrading. Mac users will need to delete ~/Library/Preferences/DAE Prefs to force ProTools to rescan the plugin database.

Soundhack releases Freesound Bundle 5.1

Soundhack +compand

Soundhack has released Freesound Bundle 5.1, a collection of free effect plug-ins.

These plug-ins were developed by Tom Erbe as class demonstrations while teaching computer music and studio techniques at UC San Diego.

Freesound Bundle 5.1 includes:

  • +chebyshev – a distortion unit which uses various low-order chebyshev polynomials to add even or odd harmonic distortion
  • +decimate – bit depth and sample rate reduction for added aliasing and decimation noise. a very noisy plugin
  • +phasescope – the standard studio tool for seeing the phase relation between your left and right channels. also includes a bit meter
  • +compand – is a combined compressor/expander plugin. It has a softknee control as well as a switchable rms/peak level detector
  • +matrix – a mid-side to left-right encoder and decoder. for mid-side microphone arrays, but also useful when needing to apply effects to only the center or the sides of a stereo mix

There is currently no manual, or any presets. These will be added if there is enough positive feedback. (so let Tom know if you’d like manuals or presets!)

This is the same as the AU release of last year, but I have fixed numerous bugs (esp. in compand), and have added VST, RTAS and Windows support.
