Soundiron has launched Brad Hoyt’s Harp Guitar, a 30-string acoustic harp guitar multisample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
It offers total playability, with independent string control for lead picking, dynamic strumming and chord triggering, rhythm sequencing, gliss and strum performance, arpegiation and multi-mode legato.
We sampled this custom-designed harp guitar commissioned by classical guitarist Brad Hoyt. This unique instrument, dubbed “Arpa Viola Caipira”, is the result of a four year design and construction process with master luthier Stephen Sedgwick in the U.K. With a massive and lush tone, wide key range, rich bass and pristine highs, it takes the entire concept of an acoustic guitar to new frontiers.
We deeply sampled each string, with plucks, palm mutes, chokes, legato slides, glisses, scrapes, guitar body percussion and tons of other effects. Our goal was to fully capture every nuance of this exquisite instrument, with up to 12X round-robin and responsive velocity layering. The instrument was recorded dry in our studio, in wide stereo for maximum tone, fidelity, body and clarity.
The library is available for purchase for the introductory price of $99 USD until December 31st, 2014 (regular $129 USD). Requires full retail version of Kontakt 5.3.1 or later.

Soundiron has launched the 10th title in the Iron Pack series of sample libraries for Native Instruments Kontakt and sfz.
We went to the Austin Zoo & Sanctuary in Texas to record the mating calls of a pair of rare Galapagos Tortoises. Let’s just say that these ancient reptiles can be surprisingly vocal in the act of consummating their love. Yes, mother nature is a mysterious and many-splendored thing indeed.
We recorded actual tortoise mating vocalizations in great detail, yielding 4 dynamic layers with plenty of round-robin variations. We then edited and programmed it all into a playable “tuned” percussion set and looping sustains. You’ll find a remarkable level of body and bass when pitched down, making it great fodder for creature sfx. But that’s just where we got started. We live and breathe to find new sonic ideas and bend them into new sources of musical inspiration.
So next, we used our secret sound design techniques to resonate, stretch, warp and sculpt the raw source into an eclectic array of 33 unique, very useful and remarkably musical ambiences, atmospheric textures, drones and pads. They’re perfect for soundscape creation, dramatic underscoring, layering and building inventive melodic instruments. We’ve included an easy yet powerful interface and room & fx impulse options to give you plenty of freedom. The is the largest Iron Pack yet, with 350 MB and 66 samples, all for the ridiculously low intro price of only $2.99!
Iron Pack #10 is available for purchase for $2.99 USD until December 2nd, 2014. Requires Kontakt 4.2.4 or later (full version) or an SFZ 2.0 compatible engine.

Soundiron has announced the release of Iron Pack #9, a micro instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt, developed on premium analog hardware, including an Elektron Analog Four and various filters and effects.
The circuitry is modern, but each of the 12 custom patches designed by our own Spencer Nunamaker was inspired by classic vintage sounds, with the full body and warm you expect from analog synthesis!
Each patch in Iron Pack #9 was created by meticulously constructing unique signal path and modulator routings, often with multiple LFOs effecting each other both parallel and in series. Once the path was designed, Spencer brought them to life, capturing their organic flavors in real-time, using a variety of velocity, joystick and envelope stage mapping to modulate different parameters, LFOs to modulate other LFOs, combined with after-touch LFO depth/speed modulation and other wild-card tweaks to generate awesome chain-reactions. The result is a warm, rich set of great synth patches, each with a host of sound-shaping parameters that let you further manipulate them into your own new custom sounds with the help of our GUI. The sounds a crisp, high-fidelity and modern, but there’s a strong element of retro-fatness in each of them.
You’ll find regular unlocked nki presets for the full version of Kontakt 4 or 5, as well as open source SFZ presets, for non Kontakt users. The SFZ presets can be used in the free Sforzando Player, the free Alchemy Player by Camel Audio and many other compatible engines.
IronPack #9 is on sale for $3.99 USD until October 21st, 2014. Requires the full version of Kontakt 4.2.4 or later or an SFZ 2.0 compatible engine.
