Soundiron Olympus Elements

Soundiron has announced Olympus Elements, a choral toolkit that puts the core functionality and sonic quality of our complete Olympus Symphonic Choral Collection into a compact, efficient and convenient low-cost package for Native Instruments Kontakt and the free Kontakt Player.

This library is designed for both professionals and casual users in mind, with years of virtual choir engineering and refinement distilled down into one extremely potent and simple solution that captures the spirit and power of a full 63-voice symphonic choir.

Olympus Elements contains just the wide close stage blend microphone position for all 8 core vowel articulations: Ah, Ee, Eh, Ei, Ih, Mm, Oh and Oo. The choir is completely configurable, with independent control over male and female divisi sections. You’ll find sustains, staccatos and marcatos, with pp-ff dynamic layering and intelligent round robin. This choir packs a massive forte punch and velvety smooth piano dynamics, giving you complete expressive control and creative freedom. We also bring you our newly upgraded true ah & oo legato sustains, with up to 6-part polyphonic harmony and fluid interval shaping. The library also features a wide variety of classic choral effects, swells, sweeps, shouts, whispers and more. Each preset comes with an array of fine performance controls, EQ, 50 custom convolution environmental and fx reverbs to choose from. And of course, we’ve included our signature hand-crafted choral atmospheres, pads and evolving soundscapes to open up more creative possibilities.

Soundiron launches Olympus Mike-Ro Solo sample library

Soundiron has announced Olympus Mike-Ro Solo, a vocal sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Soundiron Olympus Mike-Ro Solo
Soundiron’s Olympus Mike-Ro Solo, an “ultra-premium virtuoso tenor solo vocal library” for NI Kontakt.

Actually, this is just a fun, yet totally functional micropack that shows a little of what goes on behind the scenes at Soundiron as we research new production and sampling methods. When you’re dragging a full choir into a hall to record, it’s generally a good idea to have an idea of what you want them to do before you roll tape. Soundiron’s official in-house trained monkey (Mike Peaslee) likes to fancy himself a singer, usually somewhere in the tenor range. Since he was sadly born without a sense of shame or decorum, he’s literally willing to do anything on command if somebody’s recording. So we tend to use him as a human guinea pig quite a bit.

What you’ll find here is a collection of 5 poly-sustain chants, with Latin and Slavonic Russian content, along with common vowel sustains (Ah, Eh, Oh, Oo) that we recorded during the production of our Olympus Symphonic Choir. These tests helped to inform our approach to editing, recording and programming for solo voice in a hall environment.

We’ve included a pair of improvised long Latin phrases based at 130 bpm and three common multi-syllabic Slavonic words taken from the Angelic Salutation, each recorded at 100 bpm. We include standard vowel sustains Ah, Eh, Oh and Oo. This mighty little solo tenor vocal library includes nearly 100 vocal samples and 180 MB of data. It also contains a couple of sweet-ass ambient and atmospheric bonus presets and radical special FX and room convolution impulses built right into the interface. Check out the solo demos by Sascha Knorr and Freewayland to hear some of that illbient vibe for yourself. It’s pretty sick. It also works great with Olympus Micro and any of our professional full-sized symphonic choir libraries.

The sample library is available to purchase for $4.99 USD.

Soundiron has announced the release of the Electric & Acoustic Saz libraries, the first truly playable virtual Turkish Guitars designed for professional composers and exotic stringed instrument junkies.

Soundiron Electric Saz
These unique 5-stringed fretless hollow-body instruments from the streets of Turkey sound strikingly like guitars in certain ways, but with a very unique flavor and range of capabilities.

This pair of multi-sample libraries capture the total essence of both the Acoustic and Electric saz baglâma, with a full range of sustained plucks, palm mutes and chokes, true legato slide and release behavior, hand-slaps and more, with deep round-robin sampling per articulation on each string.

Our intuitive strum, arpeggiation, gliss, legato and performance controls allow exquisitely life-like fingering and emotive real-time articulation, whether you’re in the mood for intricate leads or just banging out strummed grooves and chord accompaniment in a single unified UI.

You’ll experience full control over each string, including key range, string selection, hammer-ons, pull-offs, legato and pluck type, all with key-switch support. Our unrivaled live strumming and chord generation tools can handle any style of lead or rhythm playing you throw at it. Each control can be fully automated by midi and we’ve designed several preset types to accommodate a variety of personal work-flows and preferences.

To put it simply, these libraries not only represent the most powerful ethnic stringed instrument libraries of their kind in the world – they deliver an unprecedented breakthrough in string instrument control solutions, flexibility and pure sound quality.

The sample libraries are available to purchase for the introductory price of $129 USD each through April 4th, 2013 (regular $149 USD). A bundle of both has an intro price of $199 USD (regular $229 USD).

Soundiron updates Olympus Micro Choir to v2.0 + Demo Contest

Soundiron has announced version 2.0 of its Olympus Micro Choir, a major redesign which doubles the content and vastly expands the feature range of the choral instrument for Kontakt.

Soundiron Olympus Micro Choir
Olympus Choir Micro is a lightweight user-friendly simple choral instrument for musicians who just need the basics.

We’ve added a ton of new cutting edge UI features and capabilities, along with the new fast Russian Slavonic poly-sustain ‘Raduisya’ to go along with original slow Latin ‘Dominum’, both with optional tempo-synching for Kontakt 5. We’ve also added easy-to-use smooth ‘Ah’ ff and ‘Oo’ pp vowel sustain options and a new ‘Ah’ and ‘Oo’ short Staccato preset.

We’ve rolled in tons of great new GUI features from our more powerful flagship choir libraries, including dual-ensemble layering with independent controls that allow you to seamlessly blend between the different vowels and poly-sustains on the fly. The standard swell, attack, offset, release and release sample volume controls are there, but now you can stack two section layers together or smoothly cross-fade between them, customize their key ranges and freely sculpt performance settings on the fly.

We’ve also enhanced the legato system with smoother gliding and independent voicing for each divisi section, with phrase-synchronous legato for the poly-sustains and smoother gliss-style legato for the vowel sustains. You have control over speed, bend intensity and range. There’s now also a 3-band EQ with sweepable mid and an integrated convolution reverb engine with 10 special FX impulse options and 10 classic acoustic spaces to choose from.

The full master preset includes all poly-sustains and vowel sustains for both men and women in one unified interface, with customizable key range and performance controls for each section. The more focused Divisi men and women presets allow dual-voice melodic legato and cross-vowel morphing for bigger, more precise arrangements. We’ve streamlined the library and packed more power into every instrument to cut down the clutter and make them easier to navigate and use. You’ll also find brand new special atmospheric presets that take the choir in new creative directions, with custom FX control for each one tied to the modwheel.

Olympus Micro is available to purchase for $19.99 USD. Requires Kontakt 4.2.4 or later, full version.

Soundiron has also announced a demo contest for Olympus Micro.

The creators of the two best tracks that show off all of the new content and features in Olympus Micro 2.0 will be awarded their choice of either a copy of our Mercury Symphonic Boy’s Choir or a copy of our full Olympus Symphonic Choral Collection with Mars and Venus together! Just send us an mp3 by email or Soundcloud link of your submission by March 8th, 2013.

We’ll select the two best tracks that we feel go the deepest into Olympus Micro’s new content and capabilities and announce the two winners by March 15th.
