Plughugger has announced The Coil, a sound library for Spectrasonics Omnisphere featuring a unique collection of sounds based on the mother of all sawtooths – the sound of raw electricity.
The Tesla Coil is one of the more innovative soundsources in Spectrasonics Omnisphere, and can be described as electric energy transformed into a playable musical instrument.
The sound of the Tesla Coil reminds a lot of a sawtooth – but is sharp like a razor and – at times – a bit unstable. Therefore, it’s safe to say that this collection of sounds is set in a zone between the normal and the weird. It’s like gravity is off by a few percent. Normal but not normal.
With one basic sound of electricity as our starting point, we created 100 sounds divided into atmospheres, arpeggios, pads, leads and basses. To give the sounds a less radical counterpoint, we picked out 50 sounds and transformed them with some of our favourite mellow waveforms from synths such as the Access Virus and Oberheim OB8.
The Coil is available from Plughugger for the introductory price of 9.90 EUR until October 12th, 2014 (regular 14.90 EUR).

The Unfinished has announced the release of Omnisphere Horizon IV, a collection of 128 sounds designed for cinematic and electronic music.
At the heart of Horizon IV is a focus on a complimentary blend of the synthetic and the organic: a collection of patches targeting electro-acoustic film scoring and song production. These sounds are designed to create evocative atmospheres, following the musical language of modern soundtracks and indie electronic music production.
Whilst the series continues to focus on cinematic scoring sounds, Horizon IV leans a little more towards the continually evolving neo-classical, electro-acoustic forms of scoring. Think Johan Johansson, Olafur Arnalds and Max Richter. A good deal of the arps, rhythms, pads and hybrid instruments have an acoustic feel, with bowed, plucked and scraped tones; wooden, liquid and metallic timbres.
Omnisphere Horizon IV is available for purchase for £19.99 GBP.

PlugInGuru has launched Toxic Omnisphere, a sound library for Spectrasonics Omnisphere featuring cutting edge EDM patches by Seth Norman.
TOXIC Omnisphere takes the concept of BOLD, “In Your Face” synth patches where the MOD WHEEL does EVIL and NASTY things to the sound that was first pioneered on TOXIC FM8 and re-invents Omnisphere to be a complete evil task master with waveforms and distorted resonant sounds like you’ve never heard come from Omnisphere before.
These are NOT pretty (well a couple are…), these are not TAMED (a comple have some manners), these are NOT patches you take home to MOMMA (well, you could… but I wouldn’t risk it)….. These are sounds that will RE-DEFINE HOW you can use Omnisphere. Taking you DEEEEEEP into the world of cutting edge EDM (whatever that is) genres and beyond!
Toxic Omnisphere features
- 125 EDM patches for Omnisphere.
- Includes 52 synth bass, 30 arp + rhythm, 15 synth mono, 11 pads + strings, 8 sfx and noise, 5 synth poly, 4 impact and hits.
- 4 bonus 320Khz MP3 demo tracks.
The sound library is available exclusively from PlugInGuru for the introductory price of $25 until August 1st, 2014.

ILIO has announced the release of EDM Eclipse: Solar, a collection of 130 new patches for Spectrasonics Omnisphere from EDM producer/sound designer MIDIhead.
EDM Eclipse: Solar contrasts its sister collection EDM Eclipse: Lunar, with hard-hitting synths, agressive basses, leads, pads, SFX, and a variety of tempo-locked sounds. All EDM genres are covered include House, Electro, Trap, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Trance, and Industrial with plenty of triplet-timed grooves as well.
While EDM Eclipse: Solar focuses primarily on EDM styles, it also works well for pop, hip-hop, trap, and even film and television music creations. Each sound has been crafted from Omnisphere’s synthesis engine and its core library of included sound sources.
EDM Eclipse: Solar focuses on the use of the modulation wheel for maximum sound-altering control. Many patches are also optimized for use with The Orb, giving you even more real-time control on-stage and in the studio.
The sound library is available for purchase for $19.99 USD.
