Hbasm Stereoizer Pro

Hbasm has released Stereoizer Pro, an effect plug-in for Windows.

Mono compatibility remains a very important part of music production, because music is often played back in mono, or with a poorly reproduced stereo. Think about shops, workplaces and parties. There are a variety of loudspeaker setups. Many of them are less than ideal. Even a high-end surround system may come with only 1 loudspeaker for the bass (a subwoofer). This makes sense, because the human ear cannot distinguish the direction of the lowest frequencies anyway. But a professional audio production often has to shine in all these cases.

This Stereoizer works by adding a phase inverted chorus to the dry signal. Therefore it will be completely inaudible (and thus, mono compatible) when both the LEFT and RIGHT channels are mixed together, as is often the case in mono playback. It may however introduce flanging effects, when only ONE channel is available (either LEFT or RIGHT). This may be desired or not, so I advise you to always check how your production holds up under different circumstances.

Stereoizer Pro features

  • Filter section to greatly improve the usability of the effect, and you can avoid some pitfalls.
  • Complex feedback / delay chain to make the sound fuller.
  • Smooth, high quality LFO.
  • Supports different sample rates.

Stereoizer Pro is available to purchase for $12 USD. The previously released free Stereoizer plug-in is available to download as well.

Voxengo updates Beeper and Stereo Touch to v2.1

Voxengo Stereo Beeper
Voxengo Stereo Toucher

Voxengo has released version 2.1 of Beeper and Stereo Touch, two free effect plug-ins for Windows and Mac.

Beeper is an auxiliary audio processing AU and VST plugin which you can use to insert short beep, noise burst or silence signals to any sound material. This plug-in may help you protect your work from stealing. It is safe to apply this plug-in to any mission-critical material because plug-in does not perform any processing on the audio between signals.

Stereo Touch plug-in implements a classic technique of transforming a monophonic track into spacious stereophonic track by means of mid/side coding technique. This plug-in is most effective on monophonic sounds without overly sharp transients: it works great for both acoustic and electric/overdriven guitars, synthetic pad sounds and even vocals.

Changes in Beeper / Stereo Touch v2.1

  • Beeper’s “Period” parameter’s minimal value is now 1 second.
  • “Radial” knob mode can be now disabled completely.
  • “Off-Line Render” indication added.
  • Knob read-outs now require a single click for keyboard entry.
  • Occasional crashes in WaveLab and other hosts fixed.
  • Host sample rate switch-related problem fixed.
  • Minor visual improvements implemented.
  • Plug-in initial loading time reduced.
  • The “VST Function Sync” global switch was added that fixes crashes in some hosts (i.e. Tracktion).
  • Parameter automation on AU Mac OS X now shows real parameter values.
  • Preset “update” function implemented in the preset manager.

Beeper and Stereo Touch are available to download as freeware effect plug-in for Windows and Mac (VST/AU).

de la Mancha releases thr33some

de la Mancha thr33some

de la Mancha has released thr33some, a multi-band stereo tool, to allow you to widen or narrow specific frequencies in your mix.

Typical use would be to make bass sounds mono whilst progressively spreading higher frequencies, but abuse and experimentation will yield some interesting effects too. Thr33some has 2 methods of stereo spread and with gain and pan per band you have total control over all 3 bands. You can also make each band full spectrum to get 3 full layers and control in and out gain with metering to keep levels under control. There is also a multi-out version for individual processing of each band in your DAW.

thr33some features

  • 3 band stereo widener/narrower.
  • Split bands into 3 frequency ranges, or choose 3 full spectrum layers.
  • Zero phasing band splits using inversion rather than crossover.
  • Mid/Side processing per band.
  • Delay based width control per band.
  • Stereo balance and gain per band.
  • Stereo out and multi-out (3x stereo) versions.
  • In and out gain controls.
  • Metering for in and out levels to allow balancing.
  • All control parameters named and mapped to midi CC.
  • Presets covering all functions and many configurations.

thr33some is available as a VST effect plug-in for Windows PC for $15 USD. A demo version can be downloaded here.

SPECIAL OFFER: Free copy of pitchfork (worth $15) if you buy thr33some during the month of May 2009. When you purchase thr33some, pitchfork will be included in the download.
