Musical Entropy reveals Guitar Gadgets easter egg (updated to v1.0.4)

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Aug 19, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Musical Entropy has revealed an easter egg in Guitar Gadgets, a free effect plug-in for Windows and Mac featuring a compilation of “false” analog guitar pedal simulations, made to be used mainly with electric guitars and guitar amp simulations, but which may be sound interesting in any situation.

Musical Entropy Guitar Gadgets

I’m going to talk about the easter egg in Guitar Gadgets. If you still don’t know how to make it appear, here is the trick : in the “about” tab (one click on the title), click 2 times on “-musicalentropy” (not a double click !), 2 times on “KVR”, 2 times again on “-musicalentropy”, and finally 2 times on “KVR”. This way, you are going to make a little game appear :

The game is called 2048. The original is a hit on smartphones nowadays, and has been created by a teenager called Gabriele Cirulli in one week end ! The game objective is to get a score as high as possible by moving all the pieces at once in one direction. When two pieces with the same number are pushed one on the other, they fuse with a doubled number, which is added to the current score. If you can make a piece with the number 2048 appear, you may consider that you have won the game, but you can still improve your high score.

Guitar Gadgets for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) is a free download.

Source Audio intros Soundblox Hub Manager v2.0

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Aug 08, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Source Audio has announced the release of the Soundblox Hub Manager, a free companion software application for the Soundblox Hub v1 integrated multi-pedal system.

Source Audio Soundblox Hub Manager

The Soundblox Hub and Hub Manager introduce the exciting new concept of “smart” effects pedal boards, bringing professional sophistication and control to the effect rigs of guitar and bass players of all levels.

“High-end effects touring rigs are expensive and complicated,” says Source Audio founder, Roger Smith. “The Hub and Hub Manager make it easy for musicians to achieve a professional level of power and control over their effects pedal collections without the expense and complexity.”

Source Audio Soundblox Hub
The Soundblox Hub, originally released in Oct. 2013, provides the flexibility and power of a complex multi-effects unit with the simplicity of individual stompboxes.

The Hub is a compact unit that connects with up to five of Source Audio’s Soundblox 2 pedals, unlocking their MIDI capabilities and uniting them into a powerful multi-effects processor and switching system. The Hub allows users to save the on/off states, knob positions, and external control assignments of each connected pedal to create up to 128 unique multi-pedal presets (or “scenes”). Simply dial in a sound with the pedals, then save the state of the entire pedal board with a single button press on the Hub. Scenes can then be recalled with any external MIDI foot-switcher or device that sends MIDI Program Change messages.

The Hub Manager is the perfect companion software application for the Soundblox Hub. It offers an extremely intuitive interface and easy-to-understand graphic display. With the Hub Manager, users can create and edit scenes, name them, export/import scene files, and share them with other Hub owners. The graphics make it refreshingly simple to understand the components of each pedal board scene – simply click a pedal image to reveal a straightforward graphic display of that pedal’s knob settings and external control assignments. The Hub connects to all Windows or Mac computers with a standard USB cable.

Soundblox Hub Manager version 2.0.1 is available to download for Windows and Mac.

BOSS launches Waza Craft series effect pedals

BOSS has announced the Waza Craft series, a new line of special edition compact pedals that offers players the ultimate BOSS tone experience.

The debut of the Waza Craft series includes the SD-1W Super Overdrive, BD-2W Blues Driver, and DM-2W Delay. All three pedals provide the classic sound signatures of the past and present BOSS pedals they’re based on, plus switchable modes for customized tones sought after by discerning guitarists.

BOSS Waza Craft pedals

Designed with a passion for premium sound by the master engineers at BOSS in Japan, the Waza Craft series introduces a new chapter in the company’s legacy of exceptional tone. Through meticulously-selected analog components, refined circuitry, and careful attention to the finest design details, Waza Craft embodies the essence of BOSS engineering and the spirit of generations of technical and musical wisdom.

“Waza” is the Japanese term for art and technique, and each of these special edition pedals proudly carries the Waza symbol to represent the artful wisdom and tech-savvy spirit flowing within BOSS design and craftsmanship.

In continuous production for over 30 years, the BOSS SD-1 Super Overdrive is one of the best-loved stomps ever created. The Waza Craft SD-1W hot rods this players’ favorite with a revised circuit design, all-discrete analog components, and switchable Standard and Custom sound modes.

The BOSS BD-2 Blues Driver is also one of the most popular overdrive pedals in the world, and the Waza Craft BD-2W takes this classic’s signature creamy grit to a new level. Like the SD-1W, the BD-2W is built with all-discrete analog components and a revised circuit, and features Standard and Custom sound modes.

Highly sought after since being discontinued in 1984, the BOSS DM-2 Delay is universally revered by tone aficionados for its warm, “bucket brigade” analog delay sound. With the Waza Craft DM-2W, the coveted stomp has been reborn with greater versatility for today’s music styles. Using all-analog circuitry and an authentic BBD delay line, the DM-2W’s Standard mode captures the lush sound and 20-300 ms delay range of the original DM-2. Custom mode instantly changes the sound to a cleaner analog tone with over twice the delay time.

The DM-2W also includes a jack for controlling delay time with an optional expression pedal. Two output jacks allow for separate output of delay and direct sounds if desired.
