BOSS has announced the Waza Craft series, a new line of special edition compact pedals that offers players the ultimate BOSS tone experience.

The debut of the Waza Craft series includes the SD-1W Super Overdrive, BD-2W Blues Driver, and DM-2W Delay. All three pedals provide the classic sound signatures of the past and present BOSS pedals they’re based on, plus switchable modes for customized tones sought after by discerning guitarists.

BOSS Waza Craft pedals

Designed with a passion for premium sound by the master engineers at BOSS in Japan, the Waza Craft series introduces a new chapter in the company’s legacy of exceptional tone. Through meticulously-selected analog components, refined circuitry, and careful attention to the finest design details, Waza Craft embodies the essence of BOSS engineering and the spirit of generations of technical and musical wisdom.

“Waza” is the Japanese term for art and technique, and each of these special edition pedals proudly carries the Waza symbol to represent the artful wisdom and tech-savvy spirit flowing within BOSS design and craftsmanship.

In continuous production for over 30 years, the BOSS SD-1 Super Overdrive is one of the best-loved stomps ever created. The Waza Craft SD-1W hot rods this players’ favorite with a revised circuit design, all-discrete analog components, and switchable Standard and Custom sound modes.

The BOSS BD-2 Blues Driver is also one of the most popular overdrive pedals in the world, and the Waza Craft BD-2W takes this classic’s signature creamy grit to a new level. Like the SD-1W, the BD-2W is built with all-discrete analog components and a revised circuit, and features Standard and Custom sound modes.

Highly sought after since being discontinued in 1984, the BOSS DM-2 Delay is universally revered by tone aficionados for its warm, “bucket brigade” analog delay sound. With the Waza Craft DM-2W, the coveted stomp has been reborn with greater versatility for today’s music styles. Using all-analog circuitry and an authentic BBD delay line, the DM-2W’s Standard mode captures the lush sound and 20-300 ms delay range of the original DM-2. Custom mode instantly changes the sound to a cleaner analog tone with over twice the delay time.

The DM-2W also includes a jack for controlling delay time with an optional expression pedal. Two output jacks allow for separate output of delay and direct sounds if desired.

Sunsine Audio releases Harmonic Decoder

Sunsine Audio has released Harmonic Decoder, a hardware Phase Lock Loop (PLL) device.

Sunsine Audio Harmonic Decoder

Harmonic Decoder can sound like a fuzz, an octave/harmony pedal, a filter/wah, a complex waveshaper or some crazy bent 8 bit glitch box but all of it’s effects are derived from an analog VCO, a phase detector, and a simple filter in an arrangement known as a Phase Lock Loop.

At the heart of the Harmonic Decoder is a true single oscillator analog synthesizer. It effectively resynthesizes any signal delivered at the input, providing extreme waveshaping and harmonic effects in the analog domain.

The frequency of the VCO can be modulated either by the internal envelope follower or via the external control voltage input.

The pedal is available for purchase for $165 USD.

Source Audio introduces Soundblox Hub v1

Related: , , , Posted in news on Apr 10, 2014 - comment 0 comments
Source Audio Soundblox Hub

Source Audio has announced the release of the Soundblox Hub v1, a MIDI Interface, port expander and multi-pedal scene saver.

The Hub introduces an entirely new “modular” approach to multi-effect systems. It has the power to unite up to five Soundblox 2 pedals into one thoroughly integrated, MIDI controlled, multi-effect machine.

“We’re very excited about what the Hub can do for musicians,” said Jesse Remignanti, Source Audio’s Chief Technical Officer and creator of the Hub. “It introduces a powerful new way to use effects pedals. For the first time, you can save the state of your entire pedal board as a single recallable scene. You get the flexibility and power of a complex multi-effects unit, but with the simplicity of using individual stompboxes. If you want to tweak something, just turn a knob – you don’t need to deal with the old hassle of navigating through complicated menus.”

With its ability to send and receive MIDI Program Change and Control Change messages, the Soundblox Hub unlocks the range of MIDI options in the entire line of Soundblox 2 pedals. Users can edit pedal parameters and save up to 128 pedal “scenes” easily recalled with an external MIDI foot-controller or computer MIDI interface. Recalling a saved scene activates the corresponding pedals used in the scene, complete with assigned external controllers like a passive expression pedal or the Hot Hand 3 Wireless Effects Controller.

The Hub dramatically expands the preset storage capabilities of each Soundblox 2 pedal, but it also allows users to keep their favorite “go-to” presets saved directly within each pedal. This approach gives musicians the option of interacting with their pedal board in the traditional way or with simple one-step MIDI switching.

Via the Hub’s USB port, the Hub Manager Software and latest pedal software and firmware can be downloaded directly from the Source Audio website. It is available for Mac or PC operating systems and can be used to edit saved presets and customize parameters within the Hub. As Source Audio continues to offer new features and custom arrangements, the Hub will enable users to upgrade their own equipment without the expense of purchasing an entire new setup.

The Soundblox Hub is available for $99 USD.

BOSS announces GP-10, GT-001, VE-2 & GT-100 version 2.0 update

BOSS has announced the GP-10 and GT-001 guitar processors, the VE-2 vocal harmonist, and a version 2.0 update of the GT-100 amp effects processor.

BOSS GP-10

GP-10: Guitar Processor

The new GP-10 puts a universe of amazing tones and tunings at your command, all in one compact processor that’s affordable and easy to use. With a Roland GK-compatible pickup on your guitar, the GP-10 lets you transform your sound into numerous classic electric and acoustic guitar types, basses, and even analog-modeled synths, including the legendary Roland GR-300. Not stopping there, you have access to instant altered tunings, including popular open tunings, 12-string tones, and “down” tunings that are essential for today’s ultra-heavy rock styles.

The versatile GP-10 also functions as a full-featured multi-effects processor for both GK and normal pickups, giving you a huge selection of COSM® amps and effects for live playing and studio recording. In addition, USB connectivity lets you capture GP-10 tones directly into your DAW, and you can even play computer-based soft synths from your axe with the GP-10’s guitar-to-MIDI convertor!

GT-001: Guitar Effects Processor

The GT-001 packs the acclaimed amps and effects of the flagship GT-100 Version 2.0 in a stylish desktop processor for your home studio or mobile rig. Its small size fits easily into any workspace, while the intuitive interface makes it simple to dial up world-class tones for recording and practice.

BOSS GT-001

In addition to the guitar input, an XLR mic input is included for capturing vocals or acoustic instruments, and the built-in USB audio/MIDI interface provides a direct connection for creating music with your favorite DAW.

Like the GT-100, the GT-001 offers powerful sound creation possibilities with dual amps and effects chains and flexible routing options. On top of that, a newly developed guitar-to-MIDI function lets you have fun with Guitar Friend Jam and other computer programs from a normal guitar input—no special pickup required! Available as a free download, the BOSS TONE STUDIO software provides a cool graphical interface for tweaking tones from your computer, plus access to BOSS TONE CENTRAL for free studio-ready patches and much more.

BOSS VE-2

VE-2: Vocal Harmonist

Combining sophisticated sound with simple operation, the VE-2 Vocal Harmonist delivers a complete effects solution for all singers, particularly those that perform with guitar. This portable, battery-powered stompbox has everything you need to create polished, studio-quality sounds everywhere you sing, from concert stages and street performances to practicing and having fun at home.

The VE-2 magically creates beautiful harmonized vocals that follow your singing, with pitch that automatically tracks the chords played on a connected guitar, a preset key, or a combination of the two. Using one of these three operation modes, it’s easy to create perfect real-time harmonies in any key, even if you have no experience with gear or music theory.

In addition to harmony, the VE-2 provides essential effects to enhance your voice, such as high-quality reverb/delay and an enhancer with real-time pitch correction. Also included is a USB audio function that allows you to connect to your computer and easily capture impressive VE-2 vocal sounds for music recordings, social media videos, and more.

GT-100: Amp Effects Processor

With the new GT-100 Version 2.0 update, BOSS’ flagship multi-effects processor is now even more powerful than before, adding a host of great new features to its already formidable arsenal.

BOSS GT-100

Two new amp types are included, along with cutting-edge MDP effects, an acoustic guitar simulator, and an improved rotary effect. A convenient Guitar-to-MIDI function is on board as well, letting you have fun with Guitar Friend Jam and other computer software using your normal guitar.

The GT-100’s USB audio capabilities have been expanded too, providing greater flexibility for re-amping applications. And with the BOSS TONE STUDIO software, you can now edit GT-100 patches from a friendly graphical interface on your computer.
