Ftec-Audio updates HV-Formant to v1.1

Related: , , , , Posted in news on Oct 22, 2009
Ftec-Audio HV-Formant

Ftec-Audio has released version 1.1 of HV-Formant, a Heptaverton Surround synthesizer plug-in for Windows.

Heptaverton means seven points, connections (vertices). The format is based on 6 speakers equally distributed over a 360 degree circle around the listener (the seventh point). The principal is that the product in the centre, at the seventh point, the listener, is more than the sum of the six surrounding points (the sound production of the individual speakers).

Changes in HV-Formant v1.1

  • Greatly improved stability by means of Synthmaker v1.1.3.
  • A complete new analysis module enables you to investigate both sound and control signals.
  • It is now possible to develop your own skin for the synth.
  • The VCF2 module now comprises a two stage filter with extra resonance and separation parameters that enables you to create filters with special characteristics.
  • The VCA module now has an FX (effect) section with Overdrive, Distort and Saturation effects.
  • Overdrive, Distort and exponent Functions added to the MIX modules.
  • The key memory function is changed. It now latches keys or chords. This enables you to time/trigger the polyphonic sequencer.
  • It is now possible to mute and unmute individual or all sequencer strips.
  • Lots of new presets that use the new functions.

HV-Formant is available as a VST instrument plug-in for Windows PC, priced at 69 EUR.

zplane updates PPMulator+ to v2.11.1

zplane development PPMulator+

zplane has released version 2.11.1 of PPmulator+, a cross-platform plug-in meter for digital audio workstations which exactly mimics the look and feel of a professional broadcast Peak Program Meter (PPM).

By adding this plugin to the master output of your audio editing program, you can record, edit, mix and export your audio within a precisely-calibrated workspace – something which is often impossible to do when working in a non-studio environment.

Changes in PPMulator+ v2.11.1

  • (Win) Make sure to install the latest VC++2005 Redistributable, it’s part of the new installer.
  • (Win) Fixed: the ASIO Bug of the PPM+ standalone app.
  • (Win) Fixed: the non-visibility on some systems of the VST plugin version.
  • (Mac) Fixed: failure in the AU validation.
  • (Mac) Better support for PowerPC.

PPMulator+ is available for PC and Mac, priced at $99 USD / 79 EUR.

Lexicon updates PCM96 / PCM96 Surround software to v3.2.0.1

Lexicon PCM96 Surround

Lexicon has released version 3.2.0.1 of the PCM96 and PCM96 Surround software for Mac OS X.

This update enhances the Hardware Plug-In function to increase the software stability and performance. Software version 3.2.0.1 represents a major overhaul of the streaming and control functionality to make it less processor intensive.

Changes in PCM96/PCM96 Surround software v3.2.0.1

  • Support of ProTools 8: Resolved numerous PT8 issues.
  • Fixed problems in OS X 10.5.7 on PPC Macs. NOTE: this required building a separate installer for PPC for OS X 10.4.X Macs. The main installer is for 10.5.7 PPC Macs and ALL Intel Macs.
  • Decoupled PCM96 plug-ins: when you are using multiple PCM96 plugs on separate tracks you will no longer have problems due to no audio on sections of those tracks (previously you would get a processor overload from the DAW). This also allows you to use bypass and mute/solo of tracks.
  • Initial testing has been done in Digital Performer 8.
  • Initial testing has been done in Logic 9.
  • The PCM96Configurator display has been changed to handle multiple PCM96 and PCM96 Surround processors.
  • Fix to front panel meters so they work properly when using the PCM96s in control only mode.
  • The display values for the Tail Width parameter have been changed. As before, the width is expressed in degrees, with special text for particularly interesting values. These values would include “Stereo”, “Mono”, “Logic7″ and so on. Those special values were shown in the wrong location, but have now been corrected. There is absolutely NO CHANGE in the sound of any factory or user presets, although the Tail Width parameter display may appear different in some presets.
  • The “Overload protection level” selector has been added to the “Communications” menu to allow users to get rid of DAW processor overloads. Depending on the speed of your computer, this will give you the opportunity to reduce latency in streaming mode by a full burst size.
  • Fixes to infrequent DAW hangs which occur when switching between mono and stereo plugs.

Note: Software version 3.2.0.1 is the latest version for both the PCM96 and the PCM96 Surround. There are separate installers and firmware for the PCM96 and the PCM96 Surround.
