Results for Synthogy

Last week the sample remix contest deadline passed and all 58 contestants have had a week to check out the entries and submit their top 5 favorites.

The results are in and it’s time to distribute the prizes, kindly offered by our friends at Time+Space.

First place goes to Francis Red for the track “Tropology”, a quality production with a catchy melody. This was a clear win, with both the highest amount of votes and points, as well as the most #1 votes.

In second place is Noizefield with “Level Up”, demonstrating some next level sample processing skills.

Third place winner is “Alien Love” by SatYatunes, a beautiful downtempo atmospheric piece.

The 4th winner – picked by random.org – is Robert Fletcher with his entry Welcome Laughter.

Congratulations to the winners! It was a pretty close race for the top 10, which included the tracks by Marcin Chicy, Solidtrax, König, DavidF, Sayonara Gaia, Alex Nekita, Carbone and Crystal Craft.

All winners will soon receive details on how to get one of the available prizes: Toontrack’s Superior Drummer + 1 SDX expansion, a bundle of iZotope Ozone 5, Stutter Edit & Trash 2, UVI’s Vintage Legends, and Synthogy Ivory Pianos II Grand Pianos.

Get your samplers ready, it’s time for another sample remix contest!

If you have previously participated in one of these contests you know the drill: Compose a track using the samples included in the download only, for a chance to win some great prizes.

You may process the samples any way you like, as long as you don’t use any additional instruments, samples, recordings, or other sound sources.

The download includes a total of 115 samples (24bit/44kHz WAV), including sounds contributed by Horatiu-Cristian Petrila of 3ee Sound Design.

The samples are basically all one-shot sounds, no loops this time. They are also deliberately without key information, the idea being that you explore the sounds and be inspired by what you find, rather than connecting the dots in a construction kit style approach.

• You may only use the samples provided in the contest sample pack. No other sound sources are allowed. You may process and manipulate sounds any way you want.
• Submit your entry in mp3 format (minimum of 192kbit) per email to contest@rekkerd.org before April 7th, 2013, 11:59pm CET.
  One entry per person is allowed, you will receive a confirmation of your submission.
• Your entry should be composed specifically for this contest. By entering, you grant permission for your track to be published at the rekkerd.org website, through SoundCloud.
• In order to be eligible to win, contestants are required to vote for their top 5 within a week after the contest deadline. Contestants will be contacted to submit their votes. Note: you cannot vote for your own entry.
• Winners choose a prize from the prize pool in order of placement (1st place winner picks first, then 2nd, etc.). All prizes are granted at the discretion of rekkerd.org. Some prizes may be subject to specific conditions imposed by the sponsor (e.g. NFR licenses).

Synthogy has introduced its latest Ivory Piano virtual piano instrument, the Ivory II American Concert D.

Ivory II–American Concert D is a 1951 New York Steinway® model D lauded by some of the world’s greatest concert artists. Powered by the award winning Ivory II engine, Ivory II–American Concert D is a free-standing virtual instrument and the 4th product in the acclaimed Ivory II line.

This particular New York Steinway D has the designation “CD 121″ signifying that it was selected by Steinway & Sons for artist promotion and concert hall specification. The instrument has an exceptionally pure and clear tone, a remarkably expressive dynamic range and has been described by many artists as among the finest they’ve ever played. In fact, the plate of this particular piano is signed by pianists Glenn Gould and Rudolf Serkin, a testament of high praise for the instrument by two of the world’s great masters.
