Tokyo Dawn Records and Variety of Sound have released SlickEQ – Gentleman’s Edition, an equalizer effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

TDR VOS SlickEQ - Gentleman's Edition

SlickEQ – Gentleman’s Edition takes SlickEQ’s concept to new heights and adds an exotic “Tilt”-filter flanked by flexible low-pass and high-pass filters. Five distinct EQ models provide a rich set of predefined EQ curves and behaviours for the three main semi parametric filter bands.

SlickEQ GE offers a switchable EQ non-linearity as well as six different output stages. These options offer subtle and interesting textures, from the typical “mojo” often associated with high quality analogue audio gear, up to more obvious saturation.

SlickEQ – Gentleman’s Edition features

  • Modern user interface with outstanding usability and ergonomics.
  • Carefully designed 64bit “delta” multi-rate structure.
  • Three semi-parametric filter bands, each with two shape options.
  • Five distinct EQ models: American, British, German, Soviet and Japanese.
  • Low band offers an optional phase-lag able to delay low frequencies relative to higher frequencies.
  • High pass filter with optional “Bump” mode.
  • Low pass filter with two different slopes (6dB/Oct and 12dB/Oct).
  • Parametric Tilt filter with optional “V” mode..
  • Six output stages: Linear, Silky, Mellow, Deep, Excited and Toasted.
  • Advanced saturation algorithms by VoS (“Stateful saturation”).
  • Highly effective loudness compensated auto gain control.
  • Stereo, mono and sum/difference (mid/side) processing options.
  • Frequency magnitude plot.
  • Tool-bar with undo/redo, A/B, advanced preset management and more.

SlickEQ – Gentleman’s Edition for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/AAX) is available for purchase for 30 EUR.

TDR VOS SlickEQ updated to v1.0.1

Tokyo Dawn Records and Variety of Sound have released version 1.0.1 of SlickEQ, a free mixing/mastering equalizer effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

SlickEQ

Three (and a half) filter-bands arranged in a classic Low/Mid/High semi-parametric layout offer fast and intuitive access to four distinct EQ modes, each representing a set of distinct EQ curves and behaviors. An elaborate auto gain option automatically compensates for changes of perceived loudness during EQ operation. Optionally, SlickEQ allows to exclusively process either the stereo sum or stereo difference (i.e. “stereo width”) without additional sum/difference encoding.

Changes in SlickEQ v1.0.1

  • New AAX Editions (experimental, Win32 AAX is not functional)
  • Performance optimizations (+30% in some cases)
  • Value-displays now accept “,” as decimal separator (in addition to “.”)
  • Fixed rare denormal issues.
  • User presets slots increased to 10.
  • On a Mac, short-cut labels show “Cmd” instead of “Ctrl”.
  • Preset code now uses the Plugin-name as root tag (the old format is still supported)
  • Show parameter units in GUI-less mode.
  • Fix in mac install script bug which prevented the creation of user presets.

The plugin is available as freeware for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/AAX).

Tokyo Dawn Records release SlickEQ plugin

Tokyo Dawn has announced the release of SlickEQ, a mixing/mastering equalizer designed for ease of use, musical flexibility and impeccable sound, developed in collaboration with Variety Of Sound.

TDR / VOS SlickEQ

Three (and a half) filter-bands arranged in a classic Low/Mid/High semi parametric layout offer fast and intuitive access to four distinct EQ modes, each representing a set of distinct EQ curves and behaviors. An elaborate auto gain option automatically compensates for changes of perceived loudness during EQ operation. Optionally, SlickEQ allows to exclusively process either the stereo sum or stereo difference (i.e. “stereo width”) without additional sum/difference encoding.

In order to warm up the material with additional harmonic content, SlickEQ offers a switchable EQ non-linearity and an output stage with 3 different saturation models. These options are meant to offer subtle and interesting textures, rather than obvious distortion. The effect is made to add the typical “mojo” often associated with classy audio gear.
An advanced 64bit multirate processing scheme practically eliminates typical problems of digital EQ implementations such as frequency-warping, quantization distortion and aliasing.

SlickEQ features

  • Intuitive, yet flexible semi parametric EQ layout.
  • Full featured, modern user interface with outstanding usability and ergonomics.
  • Carefully designed 64bit “delta” multi-rate structure.
  • Three EQ bands with additional 18dB/Oct high-pass filter.
  • Four distinct EQ models: “American”, “British”, “German” and “Soviet” with optional non-linearity.
  • Four output stages: “Linear”, “Silky”, “Mellow” and “Deep”.
  • Advanced saturation algorithms by VoS (“stateful saturation”).
  • Highly effective and musically pleasing loudness compensated auto gain control.
  • Oversampled signal path including stateful saturation algorithms.
  • Stereo and sum/difference processing options.
  • Tool-bar with undo/redo, A/B, advanced preset management and more.

SlickEQ is available as a free effect plug-in for Windows and Mac (VST/AU). VST3 and AAX formats will follow later.

Tokyo Dawn Labs releases Feedback Compressor II

Related: , , , , Posted in news on Apr 11, 2013 - comment 1 comment

Tokyo Dawn Labs has announced the final version of Feedback Compressor II, a free compressor effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

The TDR Feedback Compressor II is a major design update of its critically acclaimed predecessor. The compressor is dedicated to the highest fidelity stereo program (2-buss) compression, but shines equally in classic mixing tasks.

Most modern compressors analyze the input signal to control gain reduction. This is known as a “feed-forward” topology. The TDR Feedback Compressor II, however, analyzes the output. This approach delivers unobtrusive and highly musical compression characteristics which mean the compressor is able to handle complex signals with ease.

Feedback Compressor II
Feedback Compressor II has been carefully tuned for intuitive and musical operation for almost every situation.

Feedback Compressor II features

  • Beautiful “Feed-Back Compression” sound and behavior.
  • 64bit floating point precision for all relevant calculations.
  • Multi-rate processing structure for highest accuracy, critical operations run up to 8 times the original rate.
  • Delta oversampled signal path (bit transparent without processing).
  • Three side-chain filter slopes: 3dB/Oct, 6dB/Oct and 12dB/Oct.
  • Super fast and natural sounding compression..
  • Independent release controls for peak and RMS compression.
  • Unique control scheme.
  • Crest Factor control.
  • Advanced stereo linking options optimized for the stereo bus.
  • Delta preview mode. Allows to preview the difference between compressed and original signal.
  • Latency compensated parallel bypass (i.e. processing not interrupted).

Feedback Compressor II is a free effect plug-in for Windows and Mac (VST/AU).
