Tonehammer Emotional Piano

Tonehammer has announced the release of Emotional Piano, a deep-sampled library dedicated to soundtrack piano and focused on capturing the warmth, the wideness, the deep resonance and softness of a world class grand.

We’ve spent years searching for just the right one to capture. With ears pressed to wood and eyes hovering scant inches above strings, we tested literally hundreds of them before finding this one special piano. The sound of a piano is defined by a thousand things, from the lacquer on the wood to the hardness of the felt in the hammers. Our goal was purely sound: a soft, deeply resonant, rich, warm and soulful sound. We had no concern for brand, model, design or pedigree. We’re not even going to mention the model and brand of the piano we chose for this library. Not because it is important, but because it is truly irrelevant. With all preconceived notions and expectations aside, this piano will either speak to you or it won’t.

This is a big, dark, warm, lush, resonant piano. It’s intended to be a scoring piano. It is a piano for epic soundtracks, not fancy dinner parties. This piano wears a helmet flak jacket, not a tuxedo with tails. This piano is a door gunner, not a dancer. This piano doesn’t retire to the New England countryside triumphantly after an extended run at the Met. It’s buried 6 feet under in the middle of a Chicago downpour after being gunned down by the mob. If you ever find yourself storming a beach in slow motion or charging into a burning building to save a baby, then this is the piano that will play when your final credits roll. If you find yourself wearing a powdered wig and leggings, then this is not your piano… unless you’re also carrying a musket and you’ve just been ordered to fix bayonets. This piano doesn’t do romantic comedies. It does love stories and, more often still, it does heartbreaks. This piano isn’t for everyone or every occasion, but when we think of a piano and really hear it in our heads and hearts, this is the sound of Tonehammer.

Tonehammer releases Epic Frame Drums

Tonehammer Epic Frame Drums

Tonehammer has released Epic Frame Drums, a new sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

The Tonehammer “Epic Frame Drum Ensemble” library contains deep sampled Irish Bodhrán drums, North African Tar drums, Egyptian Riqs, Persian Dafs and North American tribal drums. We captured them in a large A-frame chapel for an authentic, naturally massive sound that no artificial algorithmic or convolution reverb can truly simulate. We recorded in divisi and full ensemble groupings and covering both traditional and expanded playing styles and articulations. This library is ideal for powerful epic scoring and any composition that calls for massive sounding percussion.

We also captured a huge bonus collection of +1.100 BPM-based performance loops (80-140 BPM). The loops include automatic tempo-syncing functionality that allows them to be matched to a fairly wide range of custom project tempos.

Epic Frame Drums features

  • 10 different frame drums, covering of all sizes and origins.
  • Recorded naturally wet in a rich, lush, large epic church.
  • Deep multi-sampling, with 10X Round robin on all notes and plenty of velocity layers for truly dynamic playability and realism.
  • Half-step instant retuning with key-switching, attack, room decay shaping and custom convolution reverb controls with unique real-world and sound designed impulse files.
  • Full Kontakt 4 and Kontakt 4 Player compatibility.
  • Custom Presets: Master tuned and un-tuned mega-patch.
  • Divisi patches for each group and subgroup Divisi patches for solo drums.
  • A wide variety of mallet types and hand positions Exotic percussion effects, rolls, swells and skin drones Body stomp, clap and bible thumping percussion.
  • A bonus collection of 1157 live-recorded ensemble and solo frame tempo-synching drum grooves recorded at 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 BPM.

Tonehammer releases Bizarre Sitar

Tonehammer Bizarre Sitar

Tonehammer has released Bizarre Sitar, a sample library for Kontakt.

Often mocked as a “baby”, “miniature” or “toy” sitar, this bizarre beast patiently waited in the grand bazaar until it’s day arrived and a customer decided to buy it. However its wait had just begun – and for over a decade it sat dormant as mere decor, never having the chance to express it’s full-featured nature as a true contender in the world of stringed instruments. But all good comes to most who wait and the instrument was rediscovered by the all-loving Tonehammers.

The heart of our Bizarre Sitar library are the strumming patches. The modwheel allows you to sculpt the speed of the individual strum from very tight, fast strums to slow, plucky strums. The strums are tuned and spread across the entire keyboard. In addition, we’ve also included individual string plucks for lead lines and accents. As usual there are plenty of other tricks up the sleeves of this library, including bowing, FX, mutes and bonus ambiences as well as a set of all the main patches with our custom reverb. This library includes custom front-panel controls and modwheel automation to allow pitch adjustment of up to +/- 24 semitones, as well as additional features.

Bizarre Sitar features

  • 31 instrument patches, 600 Samples.
  • Bowing and FX (short, sustain, and tremolo bow, fret noise, fx, mutes).
  • Strums (fifth, sloppy, unison, unison with fifth).
  • Plucks (plucks, pluck with fifth, pluck with unison).
  • Bonus: Custom ambiences.
  • Bonus: Wet patches w/ custom convolution reverb.
  • Extensive read me (.pdf) install, patch and hint documentation.
  • 1.6 GB installed, 808 MB .rar download.
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit stereo .wav format.
  • Format(s): Kontakt and .wav.
  • Note: Native Instruments Kontakt 3 / 4 full retail versions required.
  • Note: Free Kontakt Player will only work for 30 minutes with this product. Full version required to remove this restriction.

Bizarre Sitar is available to purchase for the introductory price of $35 USD until 26 March, 2010 (regular price $30 USD).

Tonehammer releases Ambius 1: “Transmissions”

Tonehammer Ambius 1: Transmissions

Tonehammer has releases Ambius 1: “Transmissions”, a collection of handcrafted ambiences, drones, pads and evolving “synth” leads.

In this first volume of our Ambius series, we focus on the dark, the cryptic, the unnatural and the subliminal, in the form of unearthly angelic bell tones and demonically corrupt signals filtering through the void.

Every sound you hear was hand-crafted using only organic field and instrument recordings. In fact, no synthesizers were used in the creation of this library at all. We used a variety of custom techniques to blend, warp, shape and layer the sounds, taking them from the realm of the known into that of the very unknown. The instruments you’ll find in this collection range from simple, clean, tonal leads to compound, constantly moving sound-scapes and textures.

Ambius 1: “Transmissions” features

  • 288 different patches.
  • 2.5GB ambient material.
  • Core articulations (main drone categories):
    • Tuned Solo:
      • Clusterbells – Dark, sustaining bell-like drones with a searing top end, these make for great pads and leads.
      • Dig – This set has tonal and textural similarities to a wall of didgeridoos, with plenty of muddy, complex bass and mid tones.
      • Musiox – Clean, crisp sustaining bell tones.
      • Pangubus – Clouds of vast, warm organ-like texture, morphed with deep brass bells.
      • Pianus – Sustain drawn to infinity.
      • Protus – Similar in nature to the pangubus, but darker, crisper and yet more dissonant.
    • Melodic Pads:
      • Para-orchestral – Orchestral atmospheres and pads, from light and harmonic to dark and discordant.
      • Re-choral – Choir-like pads and atmospheres, from light and harmonic to dark and discordant.
      • Transmusical – Dark, evolving, dissonant complex ambient drones.
    • Horror drones, textures and ambiences:
      • Drill-o-phone – tuned lead instrument created from a dental drill grinding into tooth enamel.
      • The root canal – pads and ambiences created from an actual root canal procedure.
      • EVP – Evil transmissions from the other side, ranging from mystical to horrific.
      • Industry- Dark machines at work.
      • Panorganics – Strange alien biological auditory experimentation.
      • Rictus – sickly neon lights.
      • Swarming – great killer bee swarms and locust plagues.
      • Winds – storm winds howling through the cracks and endless hallways of an ancient factory building.
  • Bonus: Custom Convolution Reverb Impulses.
  • Extensive read me (.pdf) install, patch and hint documentation.
  • 3 main categories (Tuned, Melodic, Horror).
  • 288 Kontakt patches, including one patch with everything / 352 looping wav samples.
  • 2.56 GB installed, 1.8 GB .rar download.
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit stereo .wav format.
  • Format(s): Kontakt and .wav.
  • Note: Native Instruments Kontakt 3 / 4 full retail versions required for all Kontakt instruments.
  • Note: Free Kontakt Player will only work for 30 minutes with this product. Full version of Kontakt is required to remove this restriction.

Ambius 1: “Transmissions” is available to purchase for the introductory price of $59 USD until 28 February, 2010 (regular price $79 USD)
