Softube has introduced Transient Shaper, a dual-band transient shaping effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.
Transient Shaper can not only perform transient shaping in an unusually smooth manner, but it’s also dual band which opens to a new realm of possibilies. We’re demonstrating Transient Shaper at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California, and it will be released in February.
The dual band operation of Transient Shaper means that the user can set it to affect only the treble or bass portion of a sound—separately for the Sustain and Punch parameters—and leave the rest untouched. For example, on drum overheads, this means you can turn up the Sustain knob and set its frequency control to Wide. This will simultaneously stretch out the room sound and cymbals, as well as give you more sustain and boom to the toms. But let’s say you don’t want boomier toms. Then you set the Sustain knob’s frequency control switch to Hi, in which case the Sustain processing only affects the high frequencies, i.e. the cymbals and room, but leaves the toms just the way they are. Set the switch to Lo, and hear how you now only get boom from the toms, but the room sound and cymbals stay unaffected.
This makes Transient Shaper a much more versatile tool than most transient shaping plug-ins, and its use goes way beyond drums and percussion—it can do wonders to enhance clarity of a vocal track, turn up (or down) room sound in acoustic instrument recordings, and much more.
Tranient Shaper will be available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/AAX), priced at $89 USD from authorized Softube dealers ($99 USD from our More Is More Webstore). A 20 day demonstration license will be available for free (requires an iLok USB dongle).
Softube will be demonstrating Transient Shaper at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California, and it will be released in February.

G-Sonique has announced the release of Audio Control AC1, a mix and mastering sound control surface plug-in for Windows.
When you are finalizing your mixes you surely need to know how sounds your bass separately, if there are not some unwanted signals in bass spectrum, if high frequency range is clean, if mid range do not sounds distorted. If you hear your mix in full frequency range it is often not easy or possible.
You often need to check stereofield, if there is not too much stereo or mono signal. If stereo signal do not have lot of bass freq. or mono signal do not have distortion etc.
Next thing you often control are dynamics and transients, you need to know if there is enough of dynamic range, if transients are not smashed or if they are not very sharp or distorted.
You often need to hear left and right channel separated or phase inverted. With conventional methods it is possible but very slow and annoying to check these things.
With new Audio control console AC1 you can do all mentioned operations within one CLICK! Additionally you can check frequency spectrum on linear FFT Display, you can alo set frequency ranges which should be monitored as well as set dynamic range spectrum of monitored transients.
You can do also own useful combinations by clicking buttons, for example: listen to transients only in treble spectrum, filter bass spectrum and analyze if bass is in stereo (side) part, compare how many transients are included in mono and side/stereo part of record and much more.
The plug-in is available for purchase for the introductory price of 14.90 EUR for the first 100 customers (regular 22.90 EUR).

Sound Radix has announced the release of Drum Leveler, an advanced audio transient leveling software for Windows and Mac.
Drum Leveler is a new beat detection-based downward and upward compressor/expander. By selectively applying gain to single drum beats, Drum Leveler easily achieves the desired target level for each beat, without affecting bleed noise or beats that are out of the user-defined processing range.
Unlike traditional envelope-followers and VCA’s, Drum Leveler runs an advanced new algorithm that takes full advantage of modern CPU’s allowing unparalleled control over your drums’ dynamics.
Drum Leveler is powerful yet easy to use. It will help you achieve solid driving grooves, improve clarity and add punch to any percussive performance.
Drum Leveler features
- Transparent, beat detection-based simultaneous upward & downward compressor and expander.
- Applies gain to each beat individually to achieve set target level.
- Gain reduction and expansion is transient-accurate to the drum beat for natural, distortion-free transients reproduction.
- Dual threshold levels allows processing any level range to affect only specific beats within a track such as ghost notes or bleed without affecting other beats.
- Mono, Stereo, Dual Mono and Mid/Side operation modes.
- Easy to use and intuitive user interface.
Drum Leveler for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/AAX) is available for purchase for $149 USD. Existing Sound Radix customers can purchase Drum Leveler for $99 until December 30th, 2014.

Audio Assault has released Multi Transient, a multi-band envelope shaper plug-in for Windows and Mac.
Multi Transient is a powerful tool for tone shaping, control the amount of attack and sustain for every band, including the master output.
Multi Transient is the perfect tool to control and shape your drum sound, before reaching for a high shelf try boosting the attack on the highs, and boosting the sustain in the low mids, and if that isn’t enough each band has a 2x button that doubles the intensity of the effect.
Using Multi Transient on all your drums you can make sure you get them to behave exactly how you want, and sound as powerful as you need them to be, and if you need even more of a boost you can adjust the final output with another envelope shaper.
Multi Transient (VST/AU/RTAS/AAX) is available for purchase for $29.99 USD (personal/small business) / $49.99 USD (full license). Audio Assault has also updated the free Transient envelope shaper plug-in.

Tonecarver has released a beta version of tcStretch, a free effect plug-in for time stretching, pitch shifting, and blurring.
Time stretch can be up to 1 million times slower. Pitch shift is plus or minus one octave. Blurring blends nearby spectral material to make the output less static.
Playback is sensitive to transients in the source material. Playback rate and blur amount are set independently and automatically adjusted according to the transient contour of the material being stretched. Playing transients at a faster rate than non-transients tends to make the output sound less obviously stretched. Playing transients more slowly than non-transients emphasizes the stretchiness [good when playing in reverse mode with highly transient material]. Adding blur brings in some subtle (or not so subtle) randomness which helps to keep the output less static.
To use the plugin, load a sample (WAV or AIFF), start your DAW transport, and set playback and blur amounts to taste. (Future version will have play/stop controls for playback independent of DAW transport). Region selectors can be used to isolate a portion of the sample to repeat. Volume envelope can be applied for fades.
The plug-in beta is available to download for Windows (32/64-bit VST).
