Sound Dust releases Rubber Bass sound library

Sound Dust Rubber Bass

Sound Dust has announced the release of Rubber Bass, a bass sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Rubber Bass is sampled from a funny little Kala ukulele bass. It’s about the size of a kid’s guitar and has big fat rubber strings which are a nightmare to tune.

It’s not very loud acoustically but when DI’d, it has a wonderful round, rubbery bottom end with a lovely hint of twang which belies its tiny stature.

Its a little bit double bassy, but essentially has a character all of its own. It’s not likely to be your go-to-bass sound , but for certain things it is bloody marvelous!

The sample library is available to purchase for £15 GBP. A simple 9-velocity layer SFZ version is also available.

Cinematique Instruments releases Ronroco & 8string Ukulele

Cinematique Instruments Ronroco & 8string Ukelele

Cinematique Instruments has announced the release of Ronroco & 8string Ukulele, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

The Ronroco is a stringed mandolin like instrument of the Andean regions. It has a sound box traditionally fashioned from the shell of an armadillo or tortoise, now often made of wood. It typically has 10 strings in five courses of 2 strings each. Primarily played in traditional Andean music, today, it is often to be heard in the music of Gustavo Santaolalla.
As a bonus we also recorded a soprano Ukulele which was manually customized from a four to eight string version.

In order to build a realistic instrument we recorded both instruments with 4 different microphones positions. Finally we decided to release two different ronroco instruments: a raw Ronroco with a mix of all microphones and a fine Ronroco with just one close microphone.

The Ronroco was recorded in 4 Round Robin variations and 3-5 velocity layers. Both patches are coming along with several options to shape the sound such as EQ, cabinet, distortion, reverb, delay and a soft touch button for a more gentle playing. Beside that, the fine version includes also a simple arpeggiator with separate pad and noise control. The Ronroco is very inspiring and will certainly enrich your music production.

The 8string ukulele is available in 3 kinds of single notes (muted, short and open) and contains a powerful speciality: a 16th note strumming sequencer. In order to achieve a real strumming feeling you can choose between up- or downstroke notes and muted or open notes and you are free to add strumming noise to it. This is fun. Please check out the demos.

The sound library costs 27 EUR.

Concert Ukulele Strummer for Kontakt released by Tiki Records Hawaii

Tiki Records Hawaii Concert Ukulele Strummer

Tiki Records Hawaii has introduced Concert Ukulele Strummer, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

It has a classic sound that is instantly recognizable and immediately brings to mind the Hawaiian Islands.

Concert Ukulele Strummer features a very easy to play keyboard layout. Every chord was sampled with multiple up and down strokes, palm mutes, and full mutes. 12 chord types were recorded in each of the 12 keys. The chords that were recorded are: major, major7, 7, 9, 6, minor, minor7, minor6, diminished, augmented, add2, sus4.

I am a big fan of the, discontinued, Virtual Guitar 2. It used slices of actual strumming to replicate its patterns instead of the octave back and forth of down strokes and up strokes. To play a pattern you would play a chromatic scale up the keyboard. Each note was a different slice of the strum. It made for very convincing strumming. I’ve attempted to do just that with the Strummer.

Concert Ukulele Strummer features

  • Samples are recorded at 48k/24bits.
  • Multiple variations of up and down strokes.
  • Open strums, palm mute strums, and full mute strums.
  • Multiple articulations for each key: full down strum, full finger up strum, chuck, thumb up strum, slow down strum.
  • For NI Kontakt 4 and up.

The Concert Ukulele Strummer library is available to purchase for $49 USD.

Wavesfactory Ukulele Finger

Wavesfactory has announced the release of Ukulele Finger, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

We sampled individual notes of an ukulele (the same instrument and recording settings than our last instrument Ukulele Strum) played with a finger. 4 velocity layers and 3 round robin (repetitions) per each velocity. All notes have been sampled, no pitchshifting. Apart from the notes, we also have sampled frets and release noises to get more realism.

If you liked ‘Ukulele Strum‘ you must have this, with both instruments you’ll have a powerful and versatile ukulele library to use in your tracks. Even you can use it to add tensions to the strummed chords, and you’ll get the same sound because it’s the same instrument/recording.

Ukulele Finger features

  • Individual notes played with fingers.
  • Stereo WAV files 44.1 kHz 24 bits.
  • Full natural decay.
  • All notes sampled, no pitchshifting.
  • Recorded in stereo.
  • HQ mics, preamps and converters.
  • 4 velocity layers, 3 round robin (repetitions).
  • For Kontakt 3.5 (full version required. Kontakt Player will run in demo mode).
  • 363 MB installed.

The sample library is available to purchase for 9.95 EUR.
