Drum Broker Tombongo Funk Drums Vol 1

The Drum Broker has released Tombongo Funk Drums Vol. 1, a collection of multi-track drum loops.

The multi-track packs offer separate .wav stems for the bass drum, snare drum and left and right overhead channels for each loop so that you can achieve independent control of the mix levels and greater control of EQ and effects.

Every care was taken to capture an authentic and truly awesome drum sound by using vintage drums and microphones, and recording directly onto 2″ tape at the wonderful Gizzard studios, London.

The sample pack costs $9.99 USD.

Universal Audio releases Ocean Way Studios Dynamic Room Modeling Plug-In

Universal Audio has announced the release of the Ocean Way Studios plug-in for the UAD Powered Plug-Ins platform.

Universal Audio Ocean Way Studios
Developed over a three-year period by UA and Allen Sides, Ocean Way Studios is an audio processing first — combining elements of room, microphone, and source modeling so tracks sound as if they were recorded in the legendary studios of Ocean Way Recording.

Built upon UA’s proprietary new Dynamic Room Modeling, Ocean Way Studios provides the unique ambience and dispersion properties of various sources in the rooms at Ocean Way, as recorded through a selection of rare vintage microphones that can be dynamically positioned in real time via a simple click-and-drag interface. Ideal mic selections and placements are provided in both Ocean Way Recording’s “Studio A” and “Studio B” — the exact rooms and setups used to record some of the biggest acts of all time.

“Ocean Way Studios is one of the most ambitious projects in UA history,” explains Bill Putnam, Jr., UA founder and CEO. “We’re going far beyond previous convolution technologies to provide the complex interactions between room, source, and microphones — the things that make the acoustics at studios like Ocean Way Recording so special.”

The beautifully balanced, performance-inspiring rooms of Ocean Way Recording have shaped the sound of countless classic records, from Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles to Michael Jackson and Radiohead. The man at the helm of Ocean Way Recording for more than two decades, Allen Sides, provided guidance, sonic tuning — and access to his $250,000 collection of vintage microphones — throughout the Ocean Way Studios design process.

“The Ocean Way Studios plug-in comes as close to pulling up a set of my favorite mics at Ocean Way as I could imagine,” said Allen Sides. “The speed at which I can use this in a mixing configuration is ridiculous, and the results are stunning.”

Ocean Way Studios Plug-In features

  • Breakthrough acoustic emulations of Ocean Way Recording’s legendary Studio A and Studio B.
  • Dynamic Room Modeling combines room, microphone, and source models for unprecedented realism.
  • Incorporates sonic profiles of vintage microphones from Allen Side’s world-renowned collection.
  • Includes mic bleed and mic proximity effects for stunning accuracy.
  • Choose from eight instrument / vocal source types with unique dispersion patterns.
  • Position and blend between three vintage mic pairs (Near / Mid / Far) in real time.
  • Use in “Reverb” mode, mixing wet and dry signal; or “Re-Mic” mode, replacing your original room and mic sounds altogether.
  • Preset mic selections, placements and creative direction by Ocean Way’s Allen Sides.

The Ocean Way Studios Plug-In is available to purchase for $349 USD as part of UAD Software v7.0.

Rhythmic Robot releases New Rhythm Box for Kontakt

Rhythmic Robot New Rhythm Box

Rhythmic Robot has announced New Rhythm Box, a recreation of the vintage analogue drum machine of the same name, originally made by the Italian company EKO.

The New Rhythm Box was a transistor-based preset drum machine capable of producing ten preset rhythms, with no provision for anything beyond tempo and volume control. The Rhythmic Robot software version extends this usability considerably, breaking out the individual kit pieces so that the user can create their own rhythms, while still allowing the original presets to be played back, combined, and synced to host DAW tempo.

The tone of the New Rhythm Box is ideally suited to mellower musical styles which favour a more rounded, softer tone.

New Rhythm Box features

  • Ten combinable onboard rhythms.
  • Convolved Plate reverb for retro authenticity.
  • Velocity Retrofit for humanising your beats.
  • Multiple randomised round-robin samples to preserve a true analogue feel.
  • Fully analogue sounds, all the way from Italy!

The sample library costs £5.25 GBP. Requires Kontakt version 4.2.3 or later, full version.

Toontrack releases Indie Folk EZX & Indie Folk MIDI

Toontrack Indie Folk EZX

Toontrack has announced the release of the Indie Folk EZX EZdrummer expansion library, focusing on capturing the organic, warm, intimate and ambient sound characteristic of the indie folk genre.

The EZX, aptly titled the Indie Folk EZX, was recorded at the Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle, home to bands such as Fleet Foxes, The Shins and Band Of Horses. It comes with three complete vintage kits: a 1960s Gretsch Round Badge sampled with both sticks and mallets, a Ludwig from the 1950s as well as a Slingerland Rolling Bomber kit dating back to the 1940s. Also included are two tambourines, a hi-hat mounted tambourine jingle, an extra kick and snare as well as a 28″ floor tom.

Indie Folk EZX features

  • Three (3) complete kits.
  • Two EZXs in one! Each kit is available in two variations: a standard multi-mic mix and a classic four-mic mix.
  • Custom drums from the 1940s to the 1960s.
  • Default kit sampled with both drumsticks and mallets.
  • Recorded at Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle, WA.
  • Included MIDI performed by sampling drummer Stephen Belans.

The EZX is available to purchase for $89 USD / 69 EUR.

Toontrack has also launched the Indie Folk MIDI, a collection of grooves and fills.

Toontrack Indie Folk MIDI

With the Indie Folk MIDI pack, Stephen Belans delivers a wide and useful range of grooves and fills for songwriters that are looking to expand their horizon, go outside their comfort zone or rethink what role the drums can play in a composition.

“Sometimes just a simple heartbeat/backbeat feel is all that’s needed. Other times, the drums find their place at far ends of the spectrum. Some grooves stick to a smooth ebb and flow with a natural evolution of intensities while other ones use more dramatic transitions that don’t rely on traditional rock defaults”, says Stephen.

The Indie Folk MIDI pack cost $29 USD / 25 EUR.
