Wavesfactory launches W-Bagpipes

Wavesfactory has introduced W-Bagpipes, a bagpipe instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Wavesfactory W-Bagpipes

The xeremía is a type of bagpipe native to the Balearic Islands. It consists of a bag made of skin (or modern synthetic materials), known as a sac or sarrówhich retains the air, a blowpipe (bufador), a melody pipe or chanter (grall), and several, generally three, drones (bordones). The primary drone (roncón) sounds a tonic note, but the other drones are sometimes simply false drones for ornamentation.

The xeremia has a distinctively bright and piercing sound, which has traditionally accompanied festivals and other activities in the islands throughout history.

We sampled one solo bagpipe and a set of 5 bagpipes playing at the same time. The drones are programmed in latch mode, which means that when you play a note it’s sustained until you press it again, that’s made to make it more playable, the melody can be played normally while the drone sounds.

W-Bagpipes features

  • Solo and ensemble (5 players).
  • Recorded completely dry, in stereo with premium mics, preamps and converters.
  • Drones in latch mode.
  • Stereo WAV files 44.1 kHz 24 bits.
  • For Kontakt 3.5 and superior, full version required.
  • 60 MB installed.

W-Bagpipes for Kontakt is available to purchase for 9.95 EUR.

Wavesfactory Boomwhackers

Wavesfactory has released Boomwhackers, a sound library for Kontakt and EXS24.

Boomwhackers are lightweight, hollow, color-coded, plastic tubes, tuned to musical pitches by length. Boomwhackers produce musical tones when struck together, on the floor, or against nearly any surface. Boomwhackers are often used by performance artists and other musical performance groups to add an element of spectacle. Music educators also use them extensively to teach fundamental concepts in rhythm, harmony, and melody.

We sampled 3 octaves of boomwhackers struck on a rubber surface. Recorded in stereo, 5 velocity layers and 5 round robins, both solo and ensemble versions (5 players).

Boomwhackers features

  • Solo and ensemble boomwhackers (5 players).
  • 5 velocity layers.
  • 5 round robin (repetitions).
  • 3 octaves.
  • Stereo WAV files 44.1 kHz 24 bits.
  • For Kontakt and EXS24.
  • Kontakt 3.5 and superior, full version required.
  • 723 MB installed, 620 MB downloaded.

Wavesfactory releases Marxophone for Kontakt

Wavesfactory Marxophone

Wavesfactory has announced Marxophone, a zither sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

The Marxophone is a fretless zither that has four sets of chord strings to be strummed with the left hand and two octaves of double melody strings, which are struck by metal hammers activated by the right hand.

The hammers are mounted on spring steel and produce a mandolin-like sound from repeated bouncing on the strings, hence the name mandolin-guitar-zither sometimes applied to the Marxophone. The sound of the Marxophone is also reminiscent of the various types of hammered dulcimer in music traditions world-wide.

Marxophone features

  • Played with spring steels, pick and fingers.
  • All major and minor chords sampled.
  • 4 velocity layers.
  • 4 round robin (repetitions).
  • Release noise also with multivelocities and 4 round robin.
  • Mono and Stereo WAV files 44.1 kHz 24 bits.
  • Full natural decay.
  • Custom Script.
  • Control volume of all mics and articulations.
  • Hi quality mics, preamps and converters.
  • Kontakt 3.5 and superior.
  • Full version required. Kontakt Player will run in demo mode.
  • More than 4 Gb installed, 2Gb downloaded.

The Marxophone library is available to purchase for 14.95 EUR.

Wavesfactory releases StrumGTR Vol. 1 – Electric

Wavesfactory has released StrumGTR Vol. 1 Electric, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt and Logic EXS24.

Wavesfactory StrumGTR Vol 1 Electric

You guessed it, we sampled real strummed major and minor chords of an electric guitar (upstroke and downstroke) recorded by direct input. It’s been sampled the way real guitarists play. What does that mean? It means that when a guitarist strums softer, he doesn’t strum all the strings, only the first ones depending if he upstrokes or downstrokes, that’s why this instrument sounds so real.

We also sampled, apart from the chords, fret noises, open strings and mutes. All with 5 velocity layers and 4 round robin (repetitions).

With the purchase of this instrument we also include midi files with predefined patterns to help understand the way it works, you can use these patterns to build your own ones.

StrumGTR Electric (requires EXS24/Kontakt 3.5 or higher full version) is available to purchase for 9.95 EUR.
