White Noise Audio updates Genome MIDI Sequencer to v1.0.2

White Noise Genome MIDI Sequencer

White Noise Audio has updated Genome MIDI Sequencer, a pattern based MIDI sequencer for iPad.

Genome MIDI Sequencer (GMS) now supports the ability to send MIDI while running in the background, making it possible to edit settings in another app while GMS continues to play. It also enables users to record MIDI notes and CC messages from the interfaces of other applications. The update also brings a number of enhancements, like better CC editing and the ability to open standard MIDI files from other apps and email attachments. It also features a number of bugfixes and other improvements.

“We are excited to see the new ways that musicians will be able to link multiple apps together and do things that have never been done before on the iPad.” said GMS developer, David Wallin.

Tim of iOS music app review site Discchord.com was kind enough to make this tutorial video about running multiple apps together and sequencing them with GMS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4ulk2nHPbA

GMS is available to purchase for $12.99 USD in the Apple App Store.

Note that some MIDI gear or compatible music apps are required to use this app as GMS does not produce any sounds by itself.

TempoRubato updates NLogSynth PRO & NLog MIDI Synth for iOS

TempoRubato has announced the release of new updates of its NLogSynth PRO and NLog MIDI Synth for iPad and iPhone/iPod touch.

NLogSynth PRO

With new virtual Core MIDI, audio background operation and sync options including MIDI Clock & Korg’s WIST technology the updated NLog Synths will ground-break new and innovative ways for musicians to work with iOS devices. With now being able to interconnect apps running in parallel on the same device, we believe that iOS musicianship will reach a new level.

You can now play NLog Synths from controller apps like Audanika’s SoundPrism running on the same iOS device connected via virtual Core MIDI. In combination with NLog’s professional grade synth engine new exciting ways of app interaction and workflow are created for iOS users. Other controller apps like polychord by Shoulda Woulda Coulda or sequencer apps like Genome by White Noise Audio are supported as well.

Further, TempoRubato has implemented new synchronization options for its NLog synths. MIDI Sync in slave mode is supported for Core MIDI apps running in parallel on the same device like MoDrum by finger-pro, FunkBox by Synthetic Bits or Molten by One Red Dog Media as well as for synchronization with external MIDI devices like hardware drum boxes or connected DAWs like Apple’s Logic or Ableton’s Live.

The updates are scheduled for release in the iTunes App Store on Friday, September 16th.

White Noise Audio releases Genome MIDI Sequencer, the mobile brain for your MIDI gear

White Noise Audio Software has released Genome MIDI Sequencer, a MIDI sequencer app for the iPad.

White Noise Genome MIDI Sequencer

Musicians can start tearing it up in the studio with Genome MIDI Sequencer (GMS), the first true pattern based MIDI sequencer for the iPad. With GMS you can control all of your MIDI gear – sequence single patterns or an entire 16 track song.

GMS easily syncs drum machines and arpeggiators by sending and receiving MIDI clock messages. General MIDI files are easily exported and imported for integration with desktop apps. The app is compatible with the Line6 MIDI Mobilizer and any interfaces that support CoreMIDI using the Camera Connection Kit or Network MIDI, which allows users to send events to Mac Desktops or other iOS devices and apps.

Developer Dave Wallin, owner of White Noise Audio Software, started working on GMS when he saw the first hardware manufacturers making interfaces for the iPhone and iPad. “There weren’t any apps that did full sequencing. GMS fills that gap by providing artists with the option of a portable sequencer with the flexibility and interface of a desk top sequencer. It’s great for musicians who are looking to try an alternative studio set up or for those who just want something more compact,” said Wallin.

Genome MIDI Sequencer features

  • CoreMIDI, Line6 Mobilizer Mk I & II compatible.
  • Supports Network MIDI.
  • Sends and Receives MIDI Clock Sync, Start and Stop events.
  • Also sends Note On, Note Off, Pitch Bend, Aftertouch, Channel Pressure and CC’s.
  • Pattern based and pattern changes occur on bar boundaries so song stays in sync.
  • On screen keyboard interface.
  • Up to 16 simultaneous tracks, unlimited number of patterns.
  • Song / live modes.
  • Record incoming CC’s and Notes.
  • Undo / redo for most actions.

The Genome MIDI Sequencer is available to purchase for $12.99 USD.

Note that some MIDI gear or software synths are required to use this app as GMS does not produce any sounds by itself.
