Creative Christmas Challenge

Time+Space has announced the Creative Christmas Challenge, a music production contest with prizes from Zero-G and Stardelta.

Planning on making some music over the Christmas holidays?
Time+Space have joined forces with sample library pioneers Zero-G and audio mastering specialists Stardelta, to launch this year’s Creative Christmas Challenge, giving you the chance to win some great prizes.

Zero-G have selected ten samples from their latest collection ‘Critical Mass’. Using a minimum of two of these samples (downloadable from Soundcloud), plus your own plugins, samples, live instruments or vocals, entrants need to create a track of at least three minutes in length and upload it to the Time+Space Soundcloud Contest page by 13th January 2014.

The track can be of any genre or style and after the closing date, Time+Space will shortlist at least 5 tracks and put them forward for the public vote.

The winner will have their track professionally mastered and cut to vinyl by the generous Stardelta Audio Mastering at their state of the art, world class facility in Devon, and receive a £50 gift voucher to spend on samples, plugins or virtual instruments at Time+Space. Two runners up will each win Zero-G’s Critical Mass sample library worth £60 and a £25 T+S gift voucher.

Time+Space intros Epica virtual sound module from Zero-G

Zero-G Epica

Time+Space has announced the release of Epica, a virtual sound module for Kontakt Player by Zero-G.

Zero-G has once again teamed up with Phaedra producer Sam Spacey to release EPICA – a brand new virtual sound module powered by the free Kontakt Player.

Spacey has painstakingly hand-edited, looped and multi-layered thousands of samples recorded from analogue and digital synths to deliver over 600 patches of pads, leads, basses, sequences and fx.

Think big Oakley Modular, Sequential Pro 1, Arp Odyssey, Future Retro, Matrix 6 and much more along with DX7, D50, Akai S-950 plus a dash of oddness like the local pre-school choir and a sister-in-law’s cold-ridden vocals and you have a truly unique set of sounds at your fingertips.

The simple and intuitive user interface has been designed to give you full control over a huge amount of sonic sculpting options without slowing down the creative process, for example, control any of the EPICA interface knobs by simply right clicking on the GUI knob and then turn your midi controller knob… that’s it… done!

This is not a preset machine – the interface makes it so quick and easy to roll your own presets for your own unique sound.

Epica is available to purchase from Time+Space for the introductory price of £89.95 GBP / 109 EUR until November 30th, 2013 (regular £112.95 GBP / 135.95 EUR).

Zero-G Classical Vocal

Zero-G has launched Classical Vocal – Operatic Vocal Phrases, a sample library featuring 1.2 GB of male and female operatic vocal phrases recorded in pristine 24bit audio at 48KHz.

Obtaining top-drawer classical vocal performances is an arduous undertaking so we have taken the strain out of this difficult process for you. We took two classically trained opera singers, both graduates of the world renowned Royal Northern College of Music (UK) with bucket-loads of concert experience between them and let them loose in a world class studio with some great microphones and state-of-the-art pre-amps!

Classical Vocal contains vocal lines from many renowned operas together with a wealth of improvised melodies. Phrases with and without lyrics are included. As well as over 600 phrases there are also multi-sampled single notes that have been mapped across the keyboard of your favourite sampler so you can make up your own melodies.

Voice ranges include baritone, tenor, soprano and mezzo soprano and languages used include Italian, French, German, Latin and even Russian.

The vocal performances are all sung with great power and passion and have been recorded completely dry, without any effects or compression, so that you do not lose any of the fine subtleties and inflections of the voice (Note: the demo phrases in the mp3 below have had reverb added, just for the demo).

Classical Vocal gives you a gateway into opera’s grand world of soaring sopranos and breathtaking baritones.

As usual, all the samples in this Zero-G library are 100% royalty-free for your musical use without any additional licensing fees.

The sample library is available to purchase at a 20% introductory discount until October 31st, 2013.

Time+Space intros Perpetuo – Live Flute Phrases by Zero-G

Zero-G Pepetuo Live Flute Phrases

Time+Space has announced the release of Perpetuo – Live Flute Phrases, a new Zero-G library

Following the success of Animato, Spiritoso and Luminoso, Dan Graham has joined forces again with Zero-G to produce the next library in the series ‘Perpetuo – Live Flute Phrases‘.

Performed by a world-class flute and piccolo player from the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and recorded in Liverpool’s famous Parr Street studios, Perpetuo is an 8Gb collection of thousands of live recorded looped phrases designed for use with Kontakt v5.2.

Despite the sixty-two Kontakt instruments being made from pre-recorded phrases, Perpetuo remains highly controllable and flexible. This has been achieved by recording the same patterns across a wide pitch and dynamic range with many scale variations, by choosing patterns that blend in well to a wide variety of musical styles, and then by allowing you to automatically sync to the tempo of your projects with a wide variety of rhythm and scale types all controlled with key switches.

Dynamic levels pp to ff can be smoothly crossfaded by mod wheel, the ensemble size can be cleverly zoomed from solo to three players, and two mic positions (close and room) can be chosen or blended.

Perpetuo gives you the advantages of fluidity and realism of recorded patterns and phrases and yet also many of the advantages of the flexibility of a standard orchestral library.

The Perputuo library is available to purchase from Time+Space for RRP £79.95 GBP / 94.95 EUR / $119 USD.
