Meet one of the most ambitious recordings in the history of Toontrack and with its 64 GB in total and 23 mixer channels, likely the world’s most comprehensive drum sample library to date. Toontrack has released the Americana EZX, an expansion for EZdrummer and Superior Drummer.

Toontrack wanted to capture the essence of the Americana genre; the raw, untamed and no frills sound that defined the music that rose out of rebelling the mainstream country and rock establishment in the 1990s. Where better to do this than in its very stronghold, Austin, TX, and through the guidance of seasoned engineer Mark Hallman (Carole King, Dan Fogelberg)?

Recorded in great detail at renowned The Congress House Studio, Toontrack is proud to present one of the most genre defining products in the history of the company: Americana EZX.

Americana EZX features

• Intimate and natural sounding Fibes Maple and 1960s Ludwig kits.

Analogue Drums has released Buckshot, a drumkit sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt and EXS24.

The Buck stops here. A modern take on a vintage kit with plenty of punch to cut through and enough tone to sit right in a rock track.

The kit is a vintage 1970s Gretsch Stop-Sign Maple with Zildjian and Sabian cymbals. The kit was tracked in a big old wooden theatre and dialing in the room sound can go from tight to espansive. As usual we’ve used nothing but the finest gear to capture the kit including classic Neumann mics, vintage Neve 1064 preamps. The tracks were then processed through vintage DBX 160 “VU” compressors for added grit and girth.

Buckshot features

• Multi-sampling: each key contains 24 velocity layers for expressive detail. Hihats are extensively sampled for convincing realism with 6 articulations (tight, closed, loose, semi-open, open, pedaled).
• Mic layers: 3x separately controllable layers for close mics, overheads and room mics.

Both shorter Metal Grooves with different variations such as ride, open hh, closed hh, china, with triggers, without triggers etc and longer Master Metal Grooves arranged like ready-to-go songs are included. reason lahalla has released Metal and Motion, a package of sounds which consists mainly of original recordings and derivative textures created from recording a Zildjian Constantinople crash, a Zildjian Avedis ping ride and a Zildjian Z Custom 18″ crash cymbal through various means.

Most of the long drawn out textures were created by using different density/thickness drum sticks and “ghosting”
them lightly across the grooves until the wood catches the harmonics correctly. Other rumbling metal sounds were created through felt mallets being drawn across the cymbals at higher microphone gain stages.

Also included is a package of dual machete samples. These were recorded by using 2 separate machetes to tap, slide, slice and bend in order to get accurate ‘sword fighting’ type of sounds. You will also find other metals, such as aluminum braces and rods included in the package as well.

Metal and Motion features

The difference between licenses is that the composer’s license can be used in any musical composition with no royalties or other fees. The developer’s license allows you to use these samples to create commercial sound libraries without requiring my permission to do so. Loopmasters has released an updated version of Disco Drops, a sample library by Drumdrops.

Drumdrops go back to the Disco roots with 22 Disco Drum tracks of Four to the Floor classics ranging from 106-137 bpm in multi-track and Loop pack formats.

Recorded and mixed on a 1970s Neve console, analog tape, vintage microphones and outboard gear including multiple Pultec equalizers, Fairchild compressors, Ludwig and Gretsch kits were used with vintage Zildjian cymbals and snares by Ludwig, Rogers and Slingerland.
