Blue Cat Audio has announced that Zynaptiq is licensing Blue Cat Audio’s “Kitty” audio plug-ins development kit to port their UNVEIL plug-in to multiple platforms.

Zynaptiq Unveil

Zynaptiq’s recently announced UNVEIL 1.5 update is a major rework of their unique realtime de-reverberation and signal focusing plug-in. Based on artificial intelligence powered de-mixing, UNVEIL allows the user to attenuate or boost the amount of reverb contained in a mixed recording, and bringing out or suppressing inherent detail. Thanks to Blue Cat Audio’s technology, it is now available on both Mac and PC, in VST, Audio Unit, AAX and RTAS formats and includes multiple new features and enhancements.

“When we were evaluating our options for bringing UNVEIL to more formats and platforms, we were determined to settle for nothing but the very best solution.” said Denis H. Goekdag, CEO of Zynaptiq. “Well, we have found exactly that at Blue Cat Audio. Their Kitty SDK is highly functional as well as rock-solid, and their development team combines profound know-how with high efficiency and reliability – a perfect match for our state-of-the-art technology.”

“Zynaptiq is one of the most innovative audio companies out there,” says Guillaume Jeulin, founder and CEO of Blue Cat Audio. “It was natural for us to work together: our software development framework complements Zynaptiq’s unique algorithms. It gave them the opportunity to port their Mac-only Audio Unit plug-in to all major plug-in formats, on both Mac and Windows systems, in record time. We are proud to be part of Zynaptiq’s effort to make their incredible plug-in available on most Digital Audio Workstations (DAW).”

Zynaptiq acquires IP of discontinued products and dormant technologies from Prosoniq

Zynaptiq

Zynaptiq has announced it has acquires IP of selected Prosoniq products and technologies.

Zynaptiq GmbH and Prosoniq Products Software GmbH announce they have recently struck an agreement that grants Zynaptiq the exclusive and transferrable usage, licensing, modification and intellectual property rights to various Prosoniq products and technologies that were put on hold during the transition to MacOS X.

The agreement includes:

  • Rayverb, a real-time reverb processor that uses inverse ray-tracing technology. Rayverb allows creating a room model from an impulse response, and then enables the user to manipulate room characteristics such as size, material and geometry, morph between multiple room models and position the input signal anywhere within the modeled room’s sound-stage. Rayverb also allows exporting the manipulated room model as impulse response.
  • Magenta, a polyphonic real-time resynthesizer. Magenta allows a live input signal to be used as time-varying waveform for real-time resynthesis and sound tweaking. Options include advanced signal transformation like metallization, pitch quantization, pitch- & formant-shifting, and more.
  • PANDORA, a real-time voice separation/attenuation technology.
  • APEM, a de-reverberator based on artificial neural networks.
  • IRIDIUM, a de-noising technology based on pattern recognition and physical modeling.
  • as well as over 70 other algorithms, including mastering grade dynamics, equalization and saturation, audio morphing, re-synthesis, feature extraction and many other unique sound design algorithms. The transferred IP also contains an industrial strength batch processing framework.

Zynaptiq will provide existing users of the acquired titles with an upgrade path when software derived from or related to these products becomes available. Specifically, APEM users are eligible for a cross-grade path to Zynaptiq’s UNVEIL de-reverberation plug-in, and will be contacted by Prosoniq in the following weeks.

Zynaptiq releases Unveil de-reverberation and signal focusing processor

Related: , , , , , , , Posted in news on Mar 27, 2012 - comment 0 comments

Zynaptiq has announced the release of Unveil, a real-time de-reverberation and signal focusing plug-in, initially for Mac OS X in the AudioUnits (AU) format.

Zynaptiq UNVEIL

UNVEIL is a real-time, de-mixing based plug-in that allows attenuating or boosting reverb components within a mixed signal of any channel count, including mono sources, as well as modifying contained reverb characteristics.

Additionally, UNVEIL allows bringing the key features of a recording into focus, or moving them to the background, by attenuating or boosting perceptionally less important signal components. Based on Zynaptiq’s proprietary, artificial intelligence based MAP (Mixed-Signal Audio Processing) technology, UNVEIL’s applications include:

  • Audio engineers can attenuate reverb in recordings, gaining flexibility both in microphone placement as well as mix-down.
  • Film mixers and dialog editors can remove reverb from dialog and location sound, reducing the need for dialog replacement and foley, and match reverb amounts across different takes or perspectives as well as up-mix from stereo to quad by panning the reverb components to the rear and the dry signal to the front.
  • Music producers can turn drum-loops rich in reverb into dry recordings, and vice-versa.
  • Sound designers and foley artists can remove reflections and ambience from suboptimally captured sounds.
  • Mix and mastering engineers can bring key mix elements into focus by attenuating components commonly referred to as “mud”.

“Removing reverb from recordings has always been difficult, if not impossible. ” Zynaptiq CEO Denis H. Goekdag said. “Existing de-reverberation strategies either manipulate signal dynamics, require specific channel formats, are limited to certain signal types, or all of the above. Not so with UNVEIL, which effectively “listens” to your signal and discerns which parts of the signal are reverb, much like a human would, and then allows you to manipulate just those parts, even when processing mono sources. As it turns out, the process is not limited to processing reverb, but can bring out or move back the key elements of a recording nicely. Dialog editors, mix engineers for music and film, music producers as well as sound designers will make good use of this tool!”

Unveil features

  • Attenuate or boost the level of reverb components in mixed signals.
  • Modify reverb characteristics within a mixed recording.
  • Bring key features of any signal into focus by attenuating perceptively less significant components.
  • Works with any sample rate and channel count, including mono sources.

Unveil is currently available to purchase for Mac (AU) for the introductory price of 269 USD/EUR until June 1st, 2012 (regular 399 USD/EUR) Prices in EUR inclusive of 19% VAT.
VST and AAX support for both Mac and Windows platforms planned for later in 2012.
