Zynaptiq Unfilter

Zynaptiq has announced the release of Unfilter, an adaptive tonal contour linearization effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

UNFILTER is a real-time plug-in that removes filtering effects, such as comb filtering, resonance, or excessive equalization – effectively linearizing the frequency response of a signal automatically.

UNFILTER can also apply a detected filter response to another signal, or export it to disk as an impulse response file (WAV), and can perform mastering grade adaptive, free-form, and graphic equalization. Applications include removing room resonance, repairing poorly mic’d production sound or musical recordings, enhancing the intelligibility of speech recordings in film sound, broadcast, ENG and forensics, adapting multiple sounds to blend better with each other, adaptively re-balancing the frequency response of mixed music, general purpose high resolution automatic equalization, and creatively designing new sounds.

Unfilter features

  • Automatically detect and remove resonances, equalization, roll-offs and the effects of comb filtering from musical, location, dialog and surveillance recordings.
  • Apply the measured filter response to other signals to place them in the same “acoustic world”.
  • Export the measured filter response to or import it from a linear- or minimum-phase impulse response file (WAV).
  • Mastering grade adaptive, free-form and graphic equalization.
  • Extremely steep 96dB/octave shelving high-pass filter.
  • Output limiter for unsupervised use in batch processing applications.
  • Highly time-efficient workflow and UI.

The Unfilter plug-in for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/AAX) is available to purchase for MSRP $399 USD / 369 EUR incl. VAT.

Native Instruments releases PULSWERK Expansion for MASCHINE

Native Instruments Pulswerk

Native Instruments has announced the release of Pulswerk, a new Maschine Expansion designed for minimalistic house and techno.

Aside from its 30 drum kits, PULSWERK contains 20 unique Special Kits created exclusively with pitched sound sources. The Expansion also features an array of Multi-Effect Kits containing pre-sequenced, tempo synced effect chains and 60 new specially-designed MASSIVE presets. Combining these, PULSWERK provides an extensive toolkit for producers eager to turn deep sonic experimentation into finished professional productions.

PULSWERK’s 30 Drum Kits provide a selection of kicks, snares, claps, metallic sounds, and more specifically chosen to serve as a sonic foundation for the rest of the Expansion’s feature set. An array of Special Kits larger than that of any previous Expansion comprises chords, pads, drones, bleeps, and a variety of other pitched sound sources. Together, these sounds combine to give users a powerful toolkit for constructing polished, percussive grooves. The included patterns provide users with a creative springboard to quickly and easily start building tracks. PULSWERK’s sounds were meticulously designed with top-of-the-line software, hardware, and modular synthesizers, and drum machines – each running through high-end compressor and EQ chains carefully chosen to enhance the sound’s inherent character.

PULSWERK also features a set of pre-sequenced Multi-Effect Kits created from MASCHINE’s vast selection of on-board effects. These custom effect chains conveniently load into MASCHINE’s pads exactly like a drum kit.
Each chain automatically syncs to track tempo for evolving, beat-synced textures. These effect chains also boast powerful routing options, allowing users to route chains into new ones for a wide array of combinations. Designed for performance, key effect parameters are intuitively mapped to the hardware’s Macro knobs. Users can also automate effect performances and recall them for future production sessions and live improvisation.

PULSWERK was created by renowned sound designer Denis Gökdag – the creator of NI’s wildly successful MASCHINE Expansion TRANSISTOR PUNCH, and the name behind Surround SFX and Zynaptiq.

Pulswerk is available to purchase for for $49 USD / 49 EUR. A compact version of Pulswerk is also available for iMASCHINE in the in-app store for $0.99 USD / 0.89 EUR.

Zynaptiq introduces UNCHIRP and UNFILTER effect plugins

Zynaptiq Unchirp

Zynaptiq has announced that it will introduce the UNCHIRP lossy codec artifact removal and UNFILTER adaptive tonal contour linearization plug-ins at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, Hall 5.1 Booth A91 (April 10-13, 2013).

UNCHIRP is a real-time plug-in that removes the most objectionable artifacts associated with low bit-rate lossy audio encoding, de-noising, and other processes that operate in the frequency domain, commonly referred to as Chirping, Warbling, The Tweeties or Underwater-Sound. This type of artifact has so far been virtually impossible to remove due to its narrow-band and short-time nature. UNCHIRP salvages poorly encoded music, speech that has gone through a poor GSM/satellite uplink, footage recorded with consumer mobile devices, and material that has been de-noised too aggressively.

UNFILTER is a real-time plug-in utilizing a blind de-convolution process to remove filtering effects, such as comb filtering, resonance, or excessive equalization – effectively linearizing the frequency response of a signal virtually automatically. UNFILTER also removes slow moving flanger/chorus effects, and can apply a detected filter response to another signal, or store it for later use. Applications include repairing poorly mic’d production sound or musical recordings, adapting multiple sounds to be in the same acoustic “world”, removing “boominess” or resonance, generally re-balancing the spectral
contour of a signal or creatively designing new sounds.

“Weʼre excited to introduce UNCHIRP and UNFILTER.” Zynaptiq CEO Denis H. Goekdag said. “Re-recording mixers, music producers, dialog editors and sound designers will be thrilled to have these unique solutions in their audio toolkit.”

Zynaptiq will show UNCHIRP and UNFILTER as prototypes at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, Hall 5.1 Booth A91, April 10-13, 2013.

UNCHIRP will be available May 6th, 2013, and UNFILTER May 20th, 2013, from the Zynaptiq website as well as through select international resellers. Free trial versions will also be available.

Both plug-ins will come as AudioUnits, RTAS, AAX Native and VST for both Mac and Windows operating systems. Pricing is TBA.

Blue Cat Audio licenses audio plug-in technology to Zynaptiq

Related: , , , , , , , , , Posted in news on Nov 21, 2012 - comment 0 comments

Blue Cat Audio has announced that Zynaptiq is licensing Blue Cat Audio’s “Kitty” audio plug-ins development kit to port their UNVEIL plug-in to multiple platforms.

Zynaptiq Unveil

Zynaptiq’s recently announced UNVEIL 1.5 update is a major rework of their unique realtime de-reverberation and signal focusing plug-in. Based on artificial intelligence powered de-mixing, UNVEIL allows the user to attenuate or boost the amount of reverb contained in a mixed recording, and bringing out or suppressing inherent detail. Thanks to Blue Cat Audio’s technology, it is now available on both Mac and PC, in VST, Audio Unit, AAX and RTAS formats and includes multiple new features and enhancements.

“When we were evaluating our options for bringing UNVEIL to more formats and platforms, we were determined to settle for nothing but the very best solution.” said Denis H. Goekdag, CEO of Zynaptiq. “Well, we have found exactly that at Blue Cat Audio. Their Kitty SDK is highly functional as well as rock-solid, and their development team combines profound know-how with high efficiency and reliability – a perfect match for our state-of-the-art technology.”

“Zynaptiq is one of the most innovative audio companies out there,” says Guillaume Jeulin, founder and CEO of Blue Cat Audio. “It was natural for us to work together: our software development framework complements Zynaptiq’s unique algorithms. It gave them the opportunity to port their Mac-only Audio Unit plug-in to all major plug-in formats, on both Mac and Windows systems, in record time. We are proud to be part of Zynaptiq’s effort to make their incredible plug-in available on most Digital Audio Workstations (DAW).”
