Zynewave Podium

Zynewave has released version 3.2.1 of Podium Free, a free music production software for Windows.

Podium is a modern digital audio workstation (DAW) for Windows. It supports recording and editing of audio and MIDI, and hosts VST instrument and effect plugins.

Podium Free is a freeware edition of Podium. It is fully functional with only a few feature limitations. Download and installation does not require registration.

Changes in Podium Free v3.2.1

  • Podium Free is available as both 64-bit (x64) and 32-bit (x86) builds.
  • Support for Unicode file names and text input.
  • New “Control Surfaces” page in the Audio/MIDI setup dialog. Up to eight Mackie Control compatible devices can be configured.
  • Support for jBridge x86/x64 VST plugin wrapper.
  • The installer allows specifying separate installation paths for Podium Free and the bundled Zynewave plugins.
  • The installer includes an updated Podium Guide html document. Selecting context help in Podium will open this document instead of opening the online guide on the Zynewave website.
  • Included a new Podium Release History html document that can be opened from the Podium Help menu.
  • Reorganized the edit menu. Inactive menu commands that were previously hidden are now shown as grayed out, to make the appearance of the edit menu more consistent.
  • Added several new edit menu commands to the note, curve and arrangement editors. Some of the commands open dialogs for adjusting velocities, transposition, curve points and sound events.
  • Added several new mouse edit shortcuts to the velocity region. The shortcuts are listed in the popup help for the note velocity mode buttons.
  • Support for mice with 4-way scroll wheel.
  • Various bug fixes and minor improvements.

Podium Free is available to download for Windows.

Zynewave Podium

Zynewave has released version 3.0.0 of Podium, a professional music production application for Windows.

Podium is a modern production host that integrates audio recording, VST plugins and external MIDI and audio gear. An object based project structure allows for advanced media and device management.

Changes in Podium v3.0.0

  • Podium is now available in both 64-bit (x64) and 32-bit (x86) builds. Podium x64 requires 64-bit Windows OS and 64-bit VST plugins. The Zynewave zPEQ, zReverb and zPitch plugins are also ported to x64.
  • Added “Enable jBridge x86/x64 VST plugin wrapping” option to the preferences dialog. The jBridge third-party software can be used to load both 32-bit and 64-bit VST plugins when running Podium x86/x64 on a 64-bit Windows OS. Podium will detect if jBridge is installed, and invoke it when scanning and loading VST plugins that use a different processor architecture. It is not necessary to use the jBridger tool to create wrapped dll files.
  • Podium releases are now created with a different installer tool that supports x64 packages. The zip file download contains separate x86 and x64 installers. The new installer presents the Podium application and the Zynewave plugins as independent features. The plugins are by default installed as a subfolder under Podium, as it was done with previous installers, but you can now customize the folder to for example place the plugins in your main VSTPlugins folder.
  • Changed the version numbering from x.xx to the more common x.x.x scheme. The third number in the version text represents maintenance revisions.
  • Removed the date expiration in the Podium demo.
  • Fix: Solved an issue where inserting a VSTi inside of eXT2 would cause the Podium play cursor animation to stop.

Podium is available to purchase for Windows, priced at $50 USD (includes one year of free upgrades).

Zynewave Podium

Zynewave has released version 2.42 of Podium, a professional music production software solution for Windows.

Podium is a modern production host that integrates audio recording, VST plugins and external MIDI and audio gear. An object based project structure allows for advanced media and device management.

Changes in Podium v2.42

  • Zoom snapshots can be configured to partially recall horizontal and vertical zoom settings. Each snapshot is configured independently, making it possible to for example set up a group of snapshots for timeline zooming, and another group of snapshots for vertical zooming. The snapshot button right-click menu has four new options for enabling timeline offset, timeline zoom, vertical offset and vertical zoom.
  • Zoom snapshot buttons are organized in groups according to their configured options.
  • Added “load default snapshots” and “save as default snapshots” commands to the snapshot button right-click menu. Snapshot defaults are saved in the Podium.ini setup file. New arrangements will automatically be set up with the zoom snapshot defaults, including the initial timeline and vertical zoom range.
  • The zoom snapshot “+” button right-click menu has four new shortcut commands for adding snapshots with only a single snapshot option enabled.
  • The default Podium setup is modified to include a set of six default zoom snapshots for horizontal and vertical zooming.
  • Fix: Zoom snapshots were not copied when creating copies of an arrangement.

Podium for Windows is available to purchase for $50 USD (includes one year of free upgrades).

Zynewave Podium

Zynewave has released version 2.38 of Podium, a modern production host that integrates audio recording, VST plugins and external MIDI and audio gear.

Changes in Podium v2.38

  • Added font selection settings to the Appearances page in the preferences dialog. The font name can be entered directly in the text field or selected with the font dialog opened by clicking the browse button.
  • Added “scale font size to button size” percentage setting to the Appearances page. Entering 0% will keep font sizes at the minimum size no matter how large the button size is.
  • Object list images and button images have been redesigned to be unicolored. This avoids cases where images could be hard to distinguish with certain color setups.
  • Clearing the group or composite option on a track will automatically move all child tracks out of the group.
  • The serial number appended to sequence names are prefixed with a decimal point. This applies both to new sequence events added to a track, and phantom copies converted to unique copies.
  • Using the Insert key to add copies of selected events will be pushed forward on the timeline until reaching a position where there are no overlap with existing events.
  • Fix: Modified the code that saves the Podium.ini file. This eliminates the long delay that could occur on some PC systems when exiting Podium, or when starting a plugin scanning.
  • Fix: Shift+clicking would not override snap when dragging a segment selection or when dragging a marquee selection in the curve editor.
  • Fix: The “default sample rate” setting in the audio interfaces dialog can now be set before activating the ASIO driver.
  • Fix: Fade-in/out curves with a duration of 1 sample could result in level overload.
  • Fix: The Merge command did not properly handle merging sequences with different stretch factors.

Podium for Windows is available to purchase for $50 USD.

Zynewave Podium

Zynewave has released version 2.37 of Podium, a music production software solution for Windows PC.

Bypassed inputs only disables monitoring and not recording. The width of mixer meters resize with the zoom setting. Mixer faders can be adjusted with mouse wheel.

Changes in Podium v2.37

  • The input bypass button has been changed to only disable monitoring instead of disabling recording. An audio input that is monitored through external hardware can thus be silenced in the Podium mixer during recording.
  • If a track is record armed and an audio input is assigned, the track meter shows the input level instead of the track output level.
  • The background of input meters are tinted with the record color.
  • The width of the meters in the mixer will resize according to the zoom setting.
  • Mouse wheel can be used to adjust gain, pan, send and parameter faders in the mixer. Holding the Shift key will fine adjust. Gain faders are adjusted in 1 dB steps, and 0.1 dB fine steps.
  • Ctrl+clicking a parameter fader in the mixer will set it to the default value.
  • Fix: The UI changes in Podium 2.36 had a bug that caused the project browser to not properly update the object list.
  • Fix: In an arrangement with changing time signatures, enabling snap in an editor would offset the highlighting of the bar line.
  • Fix: Enabling bounce mode did not set the meter on the bounce track.
  • Updated the “Parameter Automation” chapter in the Podium guide.

Podium for Windows is available to purchase for $50 USD. Podium Free was updated to v2.35.

Zynewave updates Podium to v2.36

Zynewave Podium

Zynewave has released version 2.36 of Podium, a professional music production software solution for Windows PC.

The overall UI button size and roundness can be adjusted. Mixer strip widths can be zoomed from 20% to 300%. Bounce enabling a track will add a bounce option button to the effect chain.

Changes in Podium v2.36

  • Added an “Appearance” page to the preferences dialog. It includes new settings for default button size, button and and slider knob roundness, and various other options. The Podium default is updated to use a button roundness setting of 50%.
  • Added a shortcut for setting the default button size directly in the Podium UI: Place the mouse cursor over the project window menu bar, hold the Ctrl key down, and use the mouse wheel to adjust the overall button size. The entire UI will scale in realtime.
  • Removed the slider knob style options from the Colors dialog. These settings are replaced by the new Appearance page in the Preferences dialog.
  • The mixer horizontal zoom can now extend down to 20% of the normal strip size. When zooming below 100%, the various mixer controls will change position and size to accomodate for the narrow mixer strips. Double-click or Ctrl+click the zoom slider to set zoom to default. Double-click again to restore previous zoom setting. Dragging the mixer zoom slider will lock the zoom on the focus track.
  • The arrangement editor zoom and slide tools can be used on the mixer strips. To zoom in/out on a specific strip, hold Ctrl+Alt and use click+drag or the mouse wheel over the strip. To slide the strips, hold Shift+Alt and click+drag, or hold Alt and use the mouse wheel.
  • Redesigned various graphical details of the track inspector, track headers and mixer strips.
  • Optimized the code for realtime UI animation. The animation of the play cursor, meters and other indicators will continue when for example scrolling the mixer strips, dragging windows, opening menus in plugins, etc.
  • Simplified some UI features of the timeline ruler region. The previous separate menus for cursor, segment, punch and loop ranges are combined into one menu. The timeline edit mode is removed.
  • Bounce enabling a track will create a dedicated bounce track in the effect chain, instead of enabling bounce mode on an existing effect track. The bounce track will show up with a “Bounce” button in the chain, which can be clicked to open the bounce menu. The bounce extraction point can be set by dragging the bounce track up or down in the chain.
  • Changed the mouse wheel horizontal scroll shortcut from Shift to Alt, to match the Ctrl+Alt shortcut for horizontal zoom.
  • The track automatic solo can be toggled with Alt+click instead of Shift+Alt+click.
  • Added “show frame around focus track” option to the mixer region dialog.
  • Removed the outdated “use name of device assigned to track” option from the effect track properties dialog.
  • MIDI channel reset messages are only sent to MIDI interface channels that have previously been used. This reduces the total number of reset messages sent on playback start.
  • Fix: Dropping a device object onto a partially hidden effect chain panel on a track header could cause a crash.
  • Fix: Resizing the channel header panel in the sound editor did not update the wave display area.
  • Updated the “Tracks”, “Track Inspector” and “Mixing” chapters in the Podium guide.

Podium Free was updated to 2.34, featuring updates to the Podium guide and minor UI improvements.

Podium is available to purchase for Windows PC, priced at $50 USD.
