Tuğrul Akyüz of 2Rule has released an update to his 8-voice polyphonic hybrid software synthesizer plugin for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Version 3.5.0 of 2RuleSynth introduces four free global LFOs that can be routed to almost any control, each offering Rate, Sync, Divider, Amount, Offset, and Retrigger parameters, with settings stored directly in your presets. Alongside these, a new “Draw Your Own LFO” feature adds an MSEG waveform available across synth and effects alike, supporting Curve, S-Curve, and Step segments, plus snapping, undo, and eight starting shapes to build from.
A new Drift mode delivers smooth random modulation without stepping artifacts, making it well suited to modulating cutoff and panning. Monophonic playback also gets an overhaul with Retrig, Legato, and Legato + Filter modes: slurred notes no longer restart envelopes, and portamento now applies only to slurred notes.
Modulation behavior has changed so that it adds to your existing setting rather than replacing it, resulting in smoother sweeps with no automation written to your host; this movement is now visually reflected on knobs, envelopes, and the filter display. A new Reset All button lets you return every control to its default in one click, without affecting your saved presets.
On the preset side, the folder structure has been simplified and migrated automatically, factory presets are now correctly named, and restoring them no longer removes your own custom sounds.
Finally, several bugs have been fixed: the Pitch Shifter now passes audio correctly at unity pitch, MSEG segments no longer bend against mouse movement, the shape editor button no longer disappears after a preset change, and the LFO rate now correctly starts at 1 Hz.
2RuleSynth is available as a VST3 plugin for Windows and macOS. It is a “pay what you like” download, including free.
