apulSoft has announced the release of a new audio plugin that is designed to add 2nd–5th harmonics anywhere in the frequency range without introducing harsh distortion.
Ideal for enhancing bass, adding punch to drums, and helping synths cut through a mix, Opalize is based on a novel way of generating harmonics, created by Swiss mixer Joachim Budweiser.
Opalize is not a basic waveshaper. It lets you create the harmonics you want – wherever you want them – while preserving the integrity of your original signal. Add the second through fifth harmonics to any frequency range you choose. And yes – independently of input level, if you prefer. Opalize gives you harmonic control with a level of precision that has never been available before.
Opalize works best with monophonic or bandpassed signals – but still delivers compelling results on broadband material. It includes low-pass and band-pass filters to help isolate fundamental tones for optimal harmonic shaping. One band can track the pitch of a monophonic input and automatically adjust a low-pass filter in real time.
Opalize features
- Innovative harmonics generation with adjustable dynamics-independence.
- Add 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th harmonics to any signal.
- Generate even-order harmonics without DC-offset issues.
- Process up to 4 parallel frequency bands simultaneously.
- One band can follow the monophonic fundamental frequency.
- Smooth frequency analyzer display shows how harmonics are stacked per frequency.
- Minimal latency and phase-matched processing modes.
- Intuitive creation and editing of frequency bands directly on the analyzer display.
- Unlimited undo/redo for all actions.
- Built-in system-wide preset management with import and export of preset files, compatible across platforms and hosts using a human-readable xml file format.
Available for Windows and Mac (VST3, AU and AAX), Opalize is on sale for the intro price of $29 USD until December 7th, 2025 (regular $49.90 USD). A free demo version is available to try the plugin.
