Beatport, the world’s largest music store for DJs, has launched Latin Electronic as a standalone category. This update marks another major milestone for Latin American recognition within Beatport’s catalogue following the successful introduction of Brazilian Funk, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to documenting the most innovative sounds from across the globe.
As the future of electronic music continues to be defined by local scenes and cultural hybrids, Latin America has emerged as one of the world’s most fertile ecosystems for musical innovation. Driven by moombahton and other genres of Latin underground electronic music, Beatport’s Latin Electronic category highlights the dynamic club sounds and innovative producers at the forefront of these scenes.
“Today’s global club culture is increasingly inspired by the energy and creativity emerging from Latin America,” says Dj Fucci, founder of Mexico City label, WVWV Records. “Recognition of Latin Electronic on a world-leading platform like Beatport is a huge milestone in cementing the region’s influence and giving these sounds and artists the representation they deserve.”
The launch comes at a time of accelerated growth for the platform in the LATAM region. Beatport data reveals a 25% year-over-year increase in new user registrations since 2024, with paying subscriptions in Latin America surging by over 41% in 2025. This demand is clearly mirrored across Beatport’s social channels, where followers in Brazil and Mexico now represent over 12% of the platform’s total global social audience.
To celebrate the launch of the category, Beatport Live takes over Brutal MX in Mexico City on Thursday 28 May for a night of sonidero, perreo electrónico, dembow mutado and tribal guarachero. The lineup includes Colombian neoperreo star Luna Gil and Beatport Next alumni Dj Fucci, as well as Negraconda and Mosaico Sonidero. Tickets on sale now here. Limited press spaces also available, respond directly to grace.phillips@beatport.com to RSVP (first come, first served).
The Latin Electronic genre page is now live and can be explored here.
