Following the enthusiastic response to the free VRAC plugin, Beatsurfing has introduced a fully featured instrument that transforms virtually any audio source into a playable and deeply customizable drum kit.
The original VRAC introduced a deliberately immediate workflow: load any sound, select a starting point and “drumify” it into kicks, snares, hats, claps and hybrid percussion. VRAC+ preserves this playful approach while expanding it into a complete 16-pad instrument. Producers can now capture and automatically slice source material, shape each sound in detail, perform complete kits and route or export the results directly into their projects.
“VRAC was about making something inspiring from any sound in seconds. With VRAC+, we wanted to keep that sense of discovery while giving producers the depth and control to turn those first accidents into a complete, mix-ready instrument.” – Jean Uenten, Chief Creative Officer at Beatsurfing
From any sound to a complete instrument
VRAC+ can transform personal recordings, existing samples, audio routed directly from a DAW or sounds from its included library.
Its Auto Slicer detects transients throughout the source audio, making it possible to move instantly between detected hits, adjust the slicing sensitivity or jump to a random slice. Users can work with samples up to 60 minutes long and record up to two minutes of audio directly into the plugin from a DAW track or live input. Each of the 16 pads can then be shaped using an expanded collection of sound models and dedicated controls.
VRAC+ features
- 16 playable pads.
- Automatic transient detection and slicing.
- Direct recording from a DAW track or live input.
- Per-pad sound design, velocity mapping and three-band EQ.
- MIDI Learn, automation and choke groups.
- Eight stereo output pairs for detailed mixing.
- Drag-and-drop export of individual sounds or the complete kit.
- A cinematic source library.
VRAC+ also includes a curated sound library developed with Brussels-based Foley artist Olivier Thys, whose work spans close to 300 film productions and has earned him two Magritte Awards for Best Sound. The library provides cinematic recordings and acoustic textures designed as raw material for VRAC+’s drumification engine, rather than as a conventional collection of finished drum samples.
VRAC+ for Windows and macOS (AU, VST/VST3 and AAX) is available to purchase for the introductory price of €49 EUR / $49 USD at Plugin Boutique and from the Beatsurfing store until August 31st, 2026 (regular 149 EUR/USD).
